Glen Powell is an American actor, writer, and producer who is involved in almost every part of filmmaking. Recently, he’s been known for his roles in ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Anyone But You.’ One of his big breaks came in 2016 with the movie ‘Hidden Figures,’ where he played astronaut John Glenn. This film, which shows the contributions of African American women mathematicians at NASA during the Space Race, was a big hit.
Powell started acting much earlier, appearing in a ‘Spy Kids’ movie when he was 13. Now, after finally making it big in Hollywood, the actor is stepping back and ready to give it all up.
Previously, the actor said he was ready to retire from acting and didn’t want to be in Marvel movies or films aimed at winning Oscars. However, in a recent interview with GQ, he said he’s willing to make an exception.

Glen Powell’s journey to fame wasn’t a smooth one, but it’s a testament to his perseverance. Despite having roles in popular movies and TV shows, it was his portrayal of Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick that truly made audiences notice him. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter about the struggle he faced while waiting for the movie’s release during the pandemic. As studios moved towards streaming, Tom Cruise insisted on a theatrical release, causing financial strain for Powell. I’d never made any significant amount of money on a movie, including ‘Top Gun,’ and I was depleting a...

Glen Powell told some of his best Tom Cruise stories as part of a cover story interview with GQ UK magazine. The two actors became close friends during the production of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Powell originally auditioned for the role of Rooster, but he was beat out by Miles Teller. Cruise liked Powell and offered him the role of Hangman, but Powell had some notes.
“What we were talking about is, how can Hangman service the story and give the flavor of the original ‘Top Gun’ that you need?” Powell remembered saying to his A-list co-star. “I said my piece to Tom about what I do and what I do well, and he listened. Tom’s a listener. He listens to the crew members, he listens to his collaborators, and he hears people.”

Glen Powell may have a lock on a slew of beloved 1970s and 1980s franchise reboots, but the actor almost traveled to a galaxy far, far away a decade ago.
Powell told GQ UK that he was amid the final casting round to play Han Solo in “Star Wars” prequel film “Solo” circa 2018.
“I can joke about it now, [but] I blew that final audition,” Powell admitted.
Ansel Elgort also auditioned but it was Alden Ehrenreich who was instead cast in the lead role. The feature, directed by Ron Howard, bombed at the box office.
“It’s haunting when you blow those moments,” Powell added. “But that’s one of the parts of [the Hollywood myth] that’s not true. That was always somebody else’s ride to go on. You know what I mean? It was never yours to go on. If you put your time in, you’ll get your ride.”

Top Gun: Maverick was not only a treat to the film industry but to the eyes as well thanks to Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and of course, Glen Powell. The actors put their best foot forward into making the film what it is and somewhere along the way, we fell in love with every single face we saw on the screen. Whether it was the film’s intense, emotional, or fun scenes like the one on the beach, everything was crafted to perfection.

Well, this certainly was a cinematic rollercoaster that pushed the boundaries of pop culture crossovers. In a spectacular fan-made video that’s nothing short of peak cinema, we recently witnessed the indomitable Gus Fring (portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito) striding through the mayhem with his signature calm, while a pantheon of heroes tried to hinder his progress.

When Marvel launched its universe with Iron Man, the industry was divided into two eras defined as pre-mcu and post-mcu. Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau changed Hollywood for good and never batted an eye while doing so. It was only fair that the audience got on board with the program and rode the Marvel wave until it crashed into a storm of its own making, drowning everyone and everything in its path.

What are the greatest action movies of all time? It’s a controversial question, isn’t it? Any time any publication or site puts out a new list of what they consider the best action movies of all time, it can’t help but generate a ton of controversy. Nevertheless, we here at JoBlo have decided to throw our hats into the ring with a list we really hope generates some nostalgia among our viewers but also encourages them to seek out the movies on this list that they may not have seen. As everyone knows, Tom Cruise leads an action-packed life akin to that of a movie star. The actor enjoys a good thrill, and he performs almost all of his own stunts. And it was his dedication that led him to accept one of his most prominent roles, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, in the 1986 action flick Top Gun.
So, in the case of this Paramount Pictures film, the actor had an unusual demand that ultimately saved the film from disaster. Well, after a less-than-ideal experience working with director Ridley Scott on the movie Legend, Cruise was understandably cautious about committing to a new project.
When producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer approached him with the script for Top Gun, Cruise liked it but felt that it “needed some work”.

Garfield — the lasagne-loving, Monday-hating, greedy, grumpy cat originating in Jim Davis’ long-running comic strip — is an awkward fit for a kids’ film. He’s a cynic forced to be a family-friendly goofball, a sarcastic hero being sold to an audience of under-tens with an undeveloped sense of sarcasm, a square pessimist peg in a round optimistic hole. It has been tried unsuccessfully before, in 2004’s Garfield: The Movie and its sequel — those films most notable for the fact that Bill Murray signed on to voice Garfield because he mistakenly (he claimed) thought one of the Coen brothers was behind it.
This latest attempt details how Garfield first met his human ‘pet’, Jon (Nicholas Hoult), and became estranged from his father Vic (Samuel L. Jackson), before the stubborn housecat finds himself on a madcap heist adventure. Whether or not you think this is an origin story that needs to be told...

Top Gun: Maverick‘s Glen Powell has been in the spotlight a lot lately for his projects and the projects that he’s been announced to be in. He’s got both Hit Man and Twisters this year alone. In 1988, Bruce Willis committed a most grievous offense against entertainment journalists: he proved them wrong. Really wrong. Laughably wrong.
The newly minted star of ABC's "Moonlighting" drew the ire of just about everyone in Hollywood when 20th Century Fox paid him a whopping $5 million to star in the action film "Die Hard." This rankled rival studio executives, who only shelled out that kind of cash for long-established leading men like Warren Beatty and Robert Redford. While Willis might've been a minor media sensation due to "Moonlighting," with his surprise Billboard smash "The Return of Bruno" and his omnipresent Bartles and Jaymes wine cooler commercials, he had yet to prove himself worthy of a $5 million big-screen payday.
Before "Die Hard," Willis had scored a solid theatrical hit with Blake Edwards' dismally unfunny "Blind Date." This was the extent of his motion picture oeuvre when Fox declared him a massive marquee name.

Glen Powell arrives at lunch through a back door toting a container of bone broth he isn’t eager to look at, much less consume. He’s more a “chicken-fried-steak-in-Austin kind of a guy,” he insists, but he’s signed on to star in an A24 revenge thriller and he’s supposed to drop 15 pounds in a matter of weeks. It means he won’t be ordering the midday margarita that Ron Perlman is nursing at the next table. Reluctantly, Powell requests a green juice.

Of all the titles credited to Robert Downey Jr.’s name to date, perhaps the one that perfectly aligns with his real-life personality is that of Tony Stark in his Iron Man saga. But while that is still regarded as one of his best performances to date despite him last playing it almost half a decade ago, his iconic portrayal of the fan-favorite character wouldn’t have been possible due to one movie.

This one movie was none other than his 2005 masterpiece Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which pretty much brought his career back on track.
