CBS sitcom "The Bob Newhart Show" was a staple for American TV audiences of the '70s, thanks in large part to clever writing and Newhart's much-loved performance as psychologist and comedic straight man Bob Hartley. The show ran for six seasons from 1972 to 1978, but it had a surprisingly long pop cultural afterlife. Characters from "The Bob Newhart Show" have popped up in everything from "Murphy Brown" to "St. Elsewhere" to "Alf," though their most famous reappearance came in the jokey "Newhart" finale in 1990. In it, Newhart wakes up in bed next to his wife from the previous series and discovers that this entire sitcom was all an elaborate dream. "The Bob Newhart Show," it turned out, was his real world.

Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano says she has not watched Investigation Discovery’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and has not participated in similar ventures because the filmmakers are typically “outsiders” and “trauma tourists.”
The former Disney Channel star says on this week’s upcoming episode of the podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown that ID and other filmmakers had previously approached her about appearing in documentaries about kids TV.
“I’ve chosen not to speak about this with anybody, including ID, who originally came to me looking to see if I’d be interested in a doc like this,” said Romano, who has starred in Disney series Kim Possible and Even Stevens in the early 2000s. “I don’t know if it was this doc [Quiet on Set]. “Even Stevens” and “Kim Possible” actor Christy Carlson Romano revealed on “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) that she is not going to watch the Investigation Discovery documentary series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” because “it’s extremely triggering” and “I’ve made a choice for several reasons to opt out of watching that imagery.” She also said that she once turned down the network’s request for her to participate in a similar kind of doc. “Quiet on Set” explores misconduct and abuse allegations behind the scenes at Nickelodeon in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The cast also includes Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, who are reprising their iconic characters to continue the cinematic mythology of the previous movies. New to the cast is Joshua Jackson.
Plot details are being kept under the doji, but it is known that the new installment will bring the story to the East Coast and focus on a teen from China (Wang) who, as per Karate Kid lore, finds strength and direction via martial arts and a tough but wise mentor (or two).

Watch any American cartoons (and/or play some video games) made in the 2000s-2010s and you'll notice some familiar voices across the shows. One voice you're bound to hear is that of John Dimaggio.
Born and raised in New Jersey, with the accent to prove it, the 6'4 Dimaggio has a deep voice that's as imposing as his frame. Don't think that he lacks range, though. He can play lovable heroes (Jake the Dog in "Adventure Time" or Aquaman in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") and tough guys who are more emotional than they let on (Marcus Fenix in "Gears of War" or the short-tempered humanoid tiger alien Rath in "Ben 10"). He's just as good at playing villains, if not more so due to his baritone. Dimaggio's bad guys range from serious bad news to incompetent comic relief (Dr. Drakken in "Kim Possible").
He's also been in most of the "Transformers" films,...

When Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's animated sci-fi comedy "Futurama" began to be developed in the late 1990s, it was not treated with the respect one might expect for a follow-up to "The Simpsons." Where Groening's previous cartoon dealt in the classic sitcom setup of a dysfunctional family, "Futurama" was a harder sell, set in the year 3000 but in a world that largely looked like the late '90s. Only with aliens and spaceships.
Fox, the channel on which the show premiered, should have been a good home. After all, "The Simpsons" was an incredible success, at that point entering its 10th year on the network. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels had produced the excellent "King of the Hill" for Fox, giving the channel another animated sitcom hit. Seth McFarlane's "Family Guy" was in development around the same time. All of these shows would become part of Fox's...

Twelve years have gone by since the last time a new Final Destination movie was released – which is way too long without a new entry in an awesome franchise that had a nice “one every three years” pattern going on for a while. Thankfully, Final Destination 6 is in the works. Last September, it was announced that the film will be directed by the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie. Now it has come to our attention that Final Destination franchise producer Craig Perry has teased that a standout death sequence in the film will be set in a tattoo / piercing parlor!
Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing Final Destination 6 with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Perry.

“The Beyonder is just wacky, silly, fun,” says Laurence Fishburne of his smooth supervillain in this exclusive clip from the next episode of “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.” The character makes his debut in the Disney+ series on Saturday, Feb. 25.
“He comes to Earth in search of the smartest person who can teach him what humanity is all about. And it happens to be Lunella,” he says of the 13-year-old main character, who’s voiced by Diamond White. The genius tween and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur, work together to protect New York City’s Lower East Side.
“I love ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ for the same reasons I loved everything about Marvel comics since I was a kid,” says Fishburne. “The writers were writing what was happening outside the window in New York City, where I grew up.”

Fans of people cheating death and Rube Goldberg machines get ready because we're eatin' goooooood tonight! Earlier today it was announced that the "Final Destination" franchise was getting a new installment, with the directors of 2018's "Freaks," Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, tapped to bring "Final Destination 6" to life.
The directing duo has a fascinating background, having co-directed the live-action "Kim Possible" movie for Disney Channel, with Lipovsky directing "Dead Rising: Watchtower" and "Leprechaun: Origins." The Disney connection seems weird until you realize Lipovsky got his start as a kid actor in plenty of family-friendly horror fare like "Goosebumps" and Disney's "So Weird," while also appearing in "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" (which is extremely exciting news for me and like ... six other people on the planet). Regardless, the two made something really special with the sci-fi horror film "Freaks," which put them on the radar of the New Line...

“Peak TV” is ubiquitous these days, but pop culture may be approaching a new saturation point: Peak TV rewatch podcast.
The rapidly growing audio genre has skyrocketed in the past few years, with popular shows like “The Office,” “New Girl,” and many more dissected episode-by-episode in weekly podcasts hosted by the original shows’ stars. These podcasts are big business for companies like iHeart, where ad revenue is up, reportedly close to 80 percent, thanks to a perfect storm of nostalgia, exploration, and plain old love of TV.
Will Pearson, Chief Operating Officer of iHeart Podcasts, remembers being in multiple conversations about potential rewatch podcasts when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. It was one of the co-hosts of “Fake Doctors, Real Friends,” a “Scrubs” rewatch podcast, who suggested they kick this genre into high gear.
“It was Zach [Braff] that pointed it out,” Pearson told IndieWire via Zoom. “He was saying, ‘People are stuck at home.

Alright, high-five: Patrick Warburton made a surprise guest appearance on “The Bachelorette” as contestant Zach Shallcross’ real-life uncle.
The actor, known for portraying Elaine’s (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) quirky boyfriend Puddy on “Seinfeld,” was first seen in a promo for Monday night’s episode, which saw star Rachel Recchia join the final four (including Shallcross) for hometown dates. "Kim Possible" was only the second animated series made for Disney Channel (after "The Proud Family"), and it quickly became one of the cable channel's most popular shows. It's easy to see why: It had action, it had comedy, and it had one of the coolest Disney pets ever.
One of the minds behind the show, co-creator Mark McCorkle, has been in the industry long enough to see it go from being dominated by toy commercials to exploding with original (and not-so-original) ideas and genres. He's worked on everything from "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" and Hasbro's "Cops" to "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" and "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command."

Updated with Saturday schedule: After a two-year in-person hiatus due to Covid, San Diego Comic-Con is raging back with a big footprint by streaming, TV and, well, as far as big screen feature films, let’s just say they’re creeping back.
Marvel will make some big waves with its upcoming new movies (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Disney+ series (She-Hulk), but it will keep some powder dry for D23 in early September. Dwayne Johnson will be booming with New Line/DC’s Black Adam, along with Shazam: Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi. However, while Sony will be skipping as the Spider-Verse animated sequel is set for next year. Paramount will be giving fans an early look at Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. And there’s Kevin Smith with Clerks III.

Twenty years ago, “Kim Possible” creators Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle introduced the world to a high school cheerleader who saved the world in her spare time alongside her best friend Ron Stoppable and his naked mole rat, Rufus.
The series turned the damsel in distress trope on its head, putting a heroine on the small screen at a time when most of the world-saving characters we knew were men (and they still are). Schooley and McCorkle told TheWrap that the original inspiration for the iconic character came from their daughters.
“When we were growing up, we would have these action heroes that we would worship. We looked at them and said, ‘Well, you know, it was always effortless for them.’ And it’s like, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice to have a heroine where it’s effortless like that?’” McCorkle said. “There’s never a point where it’s like,...

Tisha Campbell, Essence Atkins, Tahj Mowry, Isaiah Mustafa, and Beth Grant have all been cast in ABC’s multi-cam comedy pilot “Black Don’t Crack,” Variety has learned.
The group joins previously announced series star Sherri Shepherd. The show follows three former sorority sisters who lost touch after college and reunite during a pivotal point in their lives. The show marks a reunion for Mowry and Atkins, who previously starred together in the Disney series “Smart Guy.”
Campbell will play Tasha Marks, described as a hip and fabulous Atlanta restaurateur who starts trends instead of following them. She holds nothing back and is brutally honest (sometimes to a fault) with her friends, but has been avoiding a truth in her own life. She’s achieved the perfect professional life and insists that she needs no man in her life to interfere with the career she’s worked so hard to create.

The Animation Guild, IATSE Local 839, will host a Zoom webinar Wednesday night to offer tips to recent college graduates on breaking into the animation industry during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Guild officials say the animation business has been “thriving” during the pandemic, while most other sectors of the industry have been completely shut down. “Over the last two weeks, animation studios and productions, including Bento Box, Disney TV, Cartoon Network and Rick & Morty have posted hiring notices,” the guild told Deadline.
“The coronavirus has affected recent graduates tremendously, not only robbing them of the traditions that mark the completion of a degree but making the transition into the workforce more challenging,” the guild said. “Many of the resources available to them in the past – portfolio reviews, student galleries, recruiting events – have been cancelled. This webinar will provide much-needed insights as graduates prepare to start their careers in the field of animation.

A few months ago we learned that Disney was going to be developing a live-action film adaptation of their classic animated series Kim Possible. The movie will air on the Disney Channel and today we've learned the two actors who will play Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable. Those young actors are newcomer Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs).
Kim Possible centers on a typical high school girl who, in her spare time, saves the world from evil villains. Along with her hapless sidekick Ron and his naked mole-rat Rufus, Kim took on power-hungry villains like Drakken and Shego. The comedy/adventure series ran for 87 episodes and aired two original animated movies.
Judy Taylor, Senior VP of casting and talent relations at Disney Channel had this to say about the casting in a statement:
"Sadie delivers Kim's confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she's an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit.
