The year 2023 witnessed some grand records of epic proportions at the box office. While the phenomenon of Barbinheimer dominated much of the summer last year, the Japanese kaiju flick Godzilla Minus One won hearts for its impressive storyline, brilliant visuals, and a heart-wrenching tale.

It’s quite hard to believe that we have lived through a time when wearing masks and being vaccinated was as necessary as oxygen to breathe. The Covid-19 pandemic shut down various systems and threatened to disrupt entire industries. So, when Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal envisioned a Game of Thrones spinoff show focusing on the Targaryens, they knew they had to act fast and see what becomes of it. Matt Smith was one of the first actors they thought of.
HBO was not too keen on monopolizing the Westeros universe. They felt that the story needed new angles and perspectives. Subsequently, HBO canceled the other spinoff titled Bloodmoon after it reportedly went over budget. House of the Dragon was a saving grace since it would give fans something refreshing while ensuring success for the channel.

The San-Ti may not be arriving on Earth for another 400 years. But, thankfully, you don’t have to wait that long for more 3 Body Problem.
On Friday, May 31, during the official Television Academy 3 Body Problem panel at the Netflix Fysee space at Sunset Las Palmas in Los Angeles, executive producers, showrunners, and writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) and Alexander Woo confirmed the mind-bending sci-fi drama will return for Season 2 and 3.
Benioff, Weiss, and Woo shared that they’re excited to finish telling the story that they intended. “We included a lot of what we loved from the [novels by Cixin Liu] in Season 1, but the vast majority of reasons we wanted to make this show are in Season 2,” said Weiss. “We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really,...

Showrunner Miguel Sapochnik was sort of a bridge between the shows Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. He knew the ins and outs of the Westerosi narrative and oversaw the production of both shows. He even directed six episodes of Game of Thrones.
However, a recent report suggested that Sapochnik has left House of the Dragon because the show decided not to invite his wife into the production team. He has been a great asset to House of the Dragon team since he knew how to bring such a grand show to life with resonance.

Succession meets Game of Thrones in the documentary series Ren Faire, which premieres Sunday on HBO.
Lance Oppenheim directed the three-parter about the battle to take the reins of the Texas Renaissance Festival, the largest ren faire in the world. At outdoor festivals of this ilk — in case you’re unaware — performers suit up in medieval attire, musicians tootle on flutes and strum lyres, fire eaters consume flames, and fans devour massive turkey drumsticks and fistfuls of kettle corn.
The Logan Roy – or, if you prefer, King Aerys II – in this scenario is aging potentate George Coulam, founder and ruler of the Texas ren faire. He’s a colorful character, to say the least, and if you doubt that, consider how he describes himself on his website: “George Coulam is a healthy 6’2”, 173 lbs., 86-year-old sexually active Caucasian male entrepreneur.”

Enough has been said and written about the notorious Game of Thrones Season 8 throughout the past five years. Anticlimactic, disastrous, “we have hundreds of thousands of fan signature on a petition to reshoot this sh*t with a proper ending,” and many other names it has. Neither fans nor actors liked what Benioff and Weiss did with the iconic TV show’s finale, but what’s done is done.
By the way, not everyone hated the ending. There’s at least one star who loved it!
The Grey Worm Loved the GoT Finale
Once Season 8 was out, the Internet was flooded with pictures of Game of Thrones actors looking devastated after reading the finale script. Over the years, some of them actually spoke up against it; others didn’t. But very few GoT stars openly admitted to liking the ending, and their thin ranks just received another soldier!

Since the days of finger painting stories on cave walls, storytellers have known the secret of telling a quality fable. If your characters have flaws, they will resonate, even the villains.
One-dimensional characters just don't cut it, even if they're relegated to a distant, supporting role.
Some pundits are decrying the use of the deeply flawed character as an overdone trope that should die an ignominious death.
Yet, here we are, with the most acutely compromised characters reigning supreme on our TV screens and reverberating throughout our social interactions.
The art of creating the 'grey' character isn't going away any time soon, as this list of 13 deeply flawed characters clearly demonstrates.

Science fiction and fantasy have inspired dozens of great television scores through the years, from “Battlestar Galactica” to “Game of Thrones.” Three more streaming series continued that tradition this season: “Silo,” “Fallout” and “3 Body Problem.”
Atli Örvarsson’s music for “Silo,” the Apple TV+ dystopian drama set in a bleak future where everyone lives in underground silos, was initially inspired by the setting. “It’s a mechanized world,” he says. “The technology you see is very, very old; the computers look like they’re from the ’80s, so there was always this idea that even the electronic sounds should be primitive, not slick.”
So he relied on Korg and Moog synthesizers from earlier eras, along with an unusual keyboard: the magnetic resonator piano, which uses electromagnets to create unusual sounds from the strings inside the instrument. “There’s a steampunk feel to the design of the show, and this is the ultimate steampunk instrument,...

When Emilia Clarke Said That The Avengers Movies Were Silly & Then Joined The MCU With Marvel’s Secret Invasion( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emilia Clarke is not an unknown name. She became popular as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, aka Daenerys Targaryen. She became a household name because of the gory HBO series based on George Rr Martin’s works. She recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, with Secret Invasion, but a few years before the Marvel series, the actress made a not-so-likable comment about Marvel movies, such as the Avengers films. Scroll below for more.
Clarke appeared in the leading role in the miniseries Secret Invasion. She plays Gi’ah, daughter of Talos, who works for Gravik [leader of rebel Skrulls], but things change by the end of the series. The show did not get such a good response from the fans. The critics rated it 52% on Tomatometer, and the Audience Score is 46% overall on Rotten Tomatoes.

Superheroes have always been among us: their job is to rush to the rescue in emergency situations, risking their own lives.
Although projects about firefighters, paramedics and rescuers are quite popular, there are not that many of them — here we have collected nine of the best that will bring you both tears and laughter.
1. The Smoke, 2014
The leader of the White Watch firefighters team is Kev. He is a good man who has been dedicated to his heroic profession since he was 18 years old. One day, his life was ruined by the negligence and deceit of his boss. Kev barely survived a terrible fire that left him with burns all over his body. But despite the tragedy, the man found the strength to return to work and continue saving lives.
The Smoke is a realistic series about the work of firefighters: how hard, painful and scary it is to save people.

The relevance of Game of Thrones in modern pop culture has, by definition, changed and revolutionized the concept of entertainment television and epic storytelling. Although the era of limited vision and critical thinking might be taking a back seat, the unpredictably unsatisfying ending to Season 8 of the HBO series still exists under heightened scrutiny and constant debate.

Nowadays, it seems like a quaint notion that a television series might stay on the air long enough to run out of ideas.
But almost fifty years ago, even a successful show like Happy Days wasn't immune to using outlandish stunts to bolster ratings.
And thank goodness for that, or we might all have been deprived of the cultural touchstone that is Fonzie jumping the shark.
Fonzie Jumps the Shark (And Enters History)
The phrase "jump the shark" has become shorthand for the moment when a television show loses its creative way and begins a downward spiral in quality and popularity.
However, when the actual shark jump happened in the "Hollywood: Part 3" episode of the show's fifth season, Happy Days hit number one in the Nielsen ratings.
The series aired for another six well-received seasons and even had successful spinoffs in the sitcoms Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy.

Taylor Sheridan may have earned his name as one of the best writers cum filmmakers of all time, but unfortunately for him, he hasn’t always sported the privilege of getting his work to remain natural and up to his choices, undeterred by others’ opinions. For instance, one of his most personal works had to face a serious change because of the same, as opposed to his wishes.

This work was his fan-favorite and critically appreciated blockbuster Western/crime from 2016, Hell or High Water, and the major change it had to go through was related to the title Sheridan had originally decided for it. Eric Kripke’s The Boys has forever changed the superhero genre as it featured an unorthodox take that was immediately appreciated by the fans. The popularity stemmed from deviating from the original concept of how superheroes should be noble and save the day. However, Kripke defenestrates that notion as he makes the heroes become villains. As a result, the show became an instant hit and the new favorite show of the viewers.

Adapting the work of anyone’s favorite book, comic, etc. is always a damning task. So rarely will the writer nail everything that a fan loves about the work…and that’s just what fans want: everything to be right. But that’s virtually an impossible feat – and George R.R. Martin is sick of writers even trying, saying they “never make it better.”
In a new blog posted titled “The Adaptation Tango”, George R.R. Martin took adaptations to task, calling their scribes out for feeble attempts at making the project their own. “No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and “improve” on it. “The book is the book, the film is the film,” they will tell you, as if they were saying something profound.

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is filmed in Northern Ireland. The casting for the main actors was previously announced, but Martin has now revealed that many other important characters have been cast. However, HBO isn’t ready to reveal the names of these new cast members yet.

A new app wants to become the “Netflix of AI,” allowing users to watch one of its AI-generated animated series on-demand. Not yet moved? The Showrunner app then allows the viewers to use AI to create their own episodes of the show.
AI production company Fable Studios has today launched the app in its Alpha stage to the public. With it, they’re releasing the first two episodes of an animated series created with Showrunner’s AI tools, a tech-industry satire called “Exit Valley” that looks quite similar to the animation style seen on “South Park” or “Rick and Morty.”
The first episode, which you can watch here, imagines Gold Rush-era ancestors of Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, and the Winklevoss twins fighting to the death over the valuable element in a satirical take on the cutthroat battle over Facebook. Even their “South Park” is…not quite “South Park.” And...

After directing Thor: The Dark World, filmmaker Alan Taylor moved on to Terminator Genisys. Released in 2015, it's widely considered the worst movie in the sci-fi franchise's storied history. Meant to serve as a reboot, it introduced a new timeline created when Skynet attempted to kill Sarah Connors as a child.
In the movie's big twist, we learned that Skynet had transformed Jason Clarke's John Connor into a Terminator-hybrid. Joining him in the cast were Emilia Clarke as Sarah, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as a T-800 dubbed "Pops."
Despite being heavily featured in bizarre promo photos, House of the Dragon star Matt Smith made a relatively minor appearance as the advanced T-5000 Terminator who embodies Skynet, and it sounds like shooting his scenes was a bemusing experience for the British actor.

Matt Smith is one of the most prominent actors on the cast of House Of The Dragon, a Game of Thrones spinoff set in the Seven Kingdoms. He is known to series lovers as the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who and as Prince Philip in Netflix’s The Crown. Smith initially had some doubts about playing Daemon Targaryen in the spinoff series as it came soon after the finale season of Game of Thrones.

Smith was concerned that audiences were already familiar with the story of House of the Dragon. He came to understand that the spinoff series was independent of its predecessor and told things on a bigger scale. The second season of the series will focus on the much anticipated Targaryen Civil War between Rhaenyra’s team black and Alicent’s team green.

Star Wars will be getting a new show next month called The Acolyte. The mystery thriller show is reportedly set before the events of the Star Wars films (even the prequels) and follows the murder of multiple Jedi Knights. Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland acts as the creator and showrunner of the Disney+ series.
While the show has been in the making for the past four years, it has reportedly cost Disney a lot of money. According to a new report, the eight-episode series cost the studio $180 million, which is a lot considering the show features none of the characters previously seen in the franchise. Even the Ewan McGregor starring Obi-Wan Kenobi had a budget of $90 million.

5 Things That Did Not Work for Jennifer Lopez’s Atlas(Photo Credit –IMDb)
A megastar, a big budget, a tried and tested genre – Netflix’s Atlas had all the right elements for a blockbuster, so how did the makers still miss it? One of the most anticipated streaming releases of the year, the film fell short of all expectations.
Ever since Atlas was released on Netflix, the film has been panned by critics. What was promised to be an action-packed visual spectacle, turned out to be a dud. So what did go wrong with the Jennifer Lopez movie? Among the many factors behind Atlas’ failure, these 5 things certainly did not work for the film.
1. Predictable Plot
From the trailer, it looked like Atlas would have something new to offer in the sci-fi genre; but instead, the film felt like a rehashed version of all the robots vs humanity movies we have watched before.

George R.R. Martin, whose “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels were very successfully turned into HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” does not like how nearly all literary adaptations come out on screen.
Hollywood has “gotten worse” when it comes to honoring source material, Martin said.
“Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and ‘make them their own,'” Martin wrote in a blog post. “It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen, or… well, anyone. No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and ‘improve’ on it.”

Primarily known for their work on Game of Thrones before, the dynamic duo of producers Benioff and Weiss is now largely celebrated for their new Netflix series 3 Body Problem. However, D&d don’t intend to rest on their laurels: they’re already beginning work on a new project, tapping into an entirely different genre this time.
Forget low fantasy and sci-fi, Benioff and Weiss are heading for historical drama!
What Is Death by Lightning About?
3 Body Problem clearly endeared the Game of Thrones creators to the idea of working with Netflix as their next TV show Death by Lightning will also be made under the black-and-red banner. The upcoming series will take a step back from creative fiction like fantasy and sci-fi, focusing on historical drama, instead.
Spoiler alert: Death by Lightning is largely not about someone dying from lightning.

Even nearly five years later, folks are still salty about the conclusion of “Game of Thrones.” The series’ final season nearly destroyed the show’s legacy, and that was mainly due to the fact that the books have yet to be written and the show felt compelled to cram so much plot into a handful of episodes. According to the showrunner of “House of the Dragon,” there’s no need to worry about the series’ conclusion.

We’ve known from the start that director Zack Snyder intended to released extended director’s cuts of his movies Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) and Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here), which were rated PG-13 in their shorter form. At the start of this month, we learned that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One has been given a R rating for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language. Now the Motion Picture Association ratings board has revealed that the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part Two has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, strong sexuality, nudity and some language.

On “House of the Dragon,” HBO’s fantasy epic that takes place two centuries before “Game of Thrones,” Matt Smith plays Daemon, a warrior prince who exists among fire-breathing reptiles and palace intrigue. But if his character were ever to leap deeper into the supernatural, Smith has some ideas about where he could go. “I think Daemon would make a really good vampire,” he says. “I can imagine him wandering the earth alone for all eternity.”
He certainly has the coloring: Pallid and platinum-blonde, Daemon looks as if he could have arrived in the forbidding and dark world of Westeros all the way from Transylvania. But he might be too hotblooded to play the vampire. And “House of the Dragon” — a prequel to the Emmy-gobbling, earth-shattering hit “Game of Thrones,” set during the reign of the incestuous Targaryen dynasty — is unlikely to pivot into creature horror.

The popular Game of Thrones franchise is one of the best-known and most popular adaptations in history. But it is just a drop of water in a vast ocean of adaptations that have been present since the earliest days of cinema. Now, for years, people have been debating whether adaptations are good or not, whether they can properly present a work or not, or whether they can elevate it. While most people will agree that an adaptation cannot be as good as the original, there are examples where an adaptation elevated the original work, like in the case of Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs, where the movie remains far superior to the novel.
Author George R.R. Martin, the author of Game of Thrones, has recently provided his own opinion on the matter and has aligned himself with those who think that adaptations don’t really do much for the works in question.

George R.R. Martin has been very critical of unfaithful adaptations of literature over the years, and in a recent blog post, the revered author once again vented his frustrations towards this practice. The Fire & Blood author slammed screenwriters and producers for being eager to make the stories their own by straying away from the original without improving upon them.
But despite his reasonable pushback towards this industry practice, Martin once again found himself in the crosshairs of fan outrage following the delay in his The Winds of Winter.

Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has a bone to pick with film and TV adaptations of books that, according to him, fail to live up to their original source material. In a new blog post, the author expressed disappointment in film and TV adaptations failing to emulate the books properly.
Martin, whose Game Of Thrones books birthed a successful HBO series, did not name the shows or movies that failed to do justice to the source material. However, he did recall a panel with Neil Gaiman, the creator of the comic book series Sandman, which Netflix adapted into a series.
While recalling the experience, George R.R. Martin stated, “If anything, things have gotten worse.”
