When Tom Hardy first appeared as the fan-favorite Eddie Brock/Venom, it was largely the ideal combination. The grit, acting chops, and intrepid energy that Hardy brought to the character meant that Sony immediately had a hit on their hands.
While Venom was rated PG-13, it did not need to showcase a large amount of violence and gore in order to attract audiences. That was a job done by the film’s narrative, and the evergreen, oft-hilarious charm of Tom Hardy.

Regardless, Sony did what Sony does, and showed every intention of turning the Hardy-led movie into a full-blown franchise. Our favorite extraterrestrial symbiote, in an unfortunate manner, gave birth to an offspring in the form of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady / Carnage. However, things did not work out as well as the first time around.

The Dance Moms stars have a love-hate relationship with the pyramid. Abby Lee Miller notoriously ranked her Aldc dancers on her infamous pyramid during the Lifetime show’s run. She would start at the bottom and work her way to the top, while her dancers waited to see where they would place. The soundbite has since become a viral TikTok meme. Now, the stars of the reality series are putting some much-needed fun into the pyramid ranking. Dance Moms alums Kalani Hilliker, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, and Kendall Vertes stopped by TV Insider’s studio to chat about the Dance Moms reunion and do a pyramid ranking of notable dance movies. Right away, the girls place the 2000 cult classic Center Stage at the bottom of the pyramid. “You were good, but I’m waiting for you to be great,” Kendall says, echoing Abby’s words. Is the beginning of the end of ESPN+ in sight? The streamer faces a lot of existential questions these days, but few answers were available in Tuesday’s quarterly earnings report from Disney. The report detailed that in the first three months of 2024, ESPN+ lost 400,000 subscribers, now totaling 24.8. At the end of Disney’s fiscal first quarter, ESPN+ had 25.2 million subscribers. Declines for sports-specific and live TV streaming services are anticipated during the first three months of each calendar year with the conclusion of the college football and NFL seasons.
The company’s flagship streamer Disney+ added 7.9 million domestic customers during the quarter, bringing its new total to 153.6 million. Its general entertainment streamer Hulu also added half a million new subscribers, raising its overall customer base to 50.2 million, its largest total in service history.

It’s a zoo out there. In 1990, the New York Yankees were a disaster; these were not the Derek Jeter years.

How Politics Affects Superhero Flicks: ‘Venom 3’ Changed Release Dates Due to Elections, Reports Say
A few weeks ago, it was announced that the latest Ssu entry, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ will be released on October 25, which is quite a shift from its previous release date, scheduled on November 8, 2024.
Shifting release dates are nothing new for movies but in most cases, the movies in question get delayed and not advanced, which was quite a surprise. Fans did not however question at the time, and now the latest report from Variety, points in the direction that the movie shifted its release date due to upcoming US elections.
During election seasons, particularly around major elections like presidential elections, media coverage can dominate public attention. Movies may choose to avoid releasing during this time to ensure they don’t compete for audience attention with election-related news and events. Marketing costs a pretty penny, sometimes further bloating the development costs, so it doesn’t make all that much sense...

Politics’ Impact on Superhero Movies: Reports Claim ‘Venom 3’ Shifted Release Dates Due to Elections
Several weeks ago, it was revealed that the newest Ssu installment, ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ would hit theaters on October 25, a notable change from its original November 8, 2024 release date.
While changes in release dates are common for movies, they typically involve delays rather than advances, making this shift quite unexpected. Fans didn’t raise questions initially, but a recent report from Variety suggests that the movie’s change in release date is due to the upcoming US elections.
During election seasons, especially around significant events like presidential elections, media coverage tends to dominate public focus. Movies may opt to delay their release during this time to avoid competing for audience attention with election-related news and events. Marketing expenses can be substantial, adding to the overall production costs, so it’s not always practical to vie with one of the country’s most prominent marketing and public relations machines.

The ambitious new sports streaming joint venture from Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery has the potential to be a market-changing product when it launches. The platform will feature complete livestreams of 14 channels, as well as all the content from ESPN+, in a sports-focused bundle that will cost much less than a standard cable or satellite subscription. Now, government officials are taking note of the platform, and two congressmen have asked the CEOs of the three companies involved to appear and share more details about the service, and for the Department of Justice to be involved as well.
Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-ny) and Joaquin Castro (D-tx) have submitted an open letter to the three CEOs asking for more details. The congressmen write that they’re “concerned” the platform will...

The banner outside the Majestic Hotel said it all.
“The Last Dance” read the message on the banner from Turkish-based television sales group Global Agency, a farewell gesture to the international TV market MIPTV, a fixture on the industry calendar since its launch in 1965, which will wrap its final edition this Wednesday.
The billboard summed up the wistful mood of many industry executives who made the final trip to the Mediterranean to say farewell to Mip.
“It feels like a funeral march,” quipped one German channel boss, as he strolled down the streets past the mostly empty restaurants and cafes. In MIPTV’s heyday, when more than 10,000 international executives crammed into Cannes for the annual Spring market, it was a battle to find a free table.
Those days are long gone and Mip’s demise, as a TV market designed for the pre-streaming era, was a long time coming. Event...

Veteran names like Palmer, Selva, Siciliano and Stark are out at NFL Media, which could soon fall under ESPN’s purview.
NFL players who get cut often cite the fact that the league is a business, first and foremost. This week, some high-profile NFL Network personalities found the same hard truth staring them in the face, as the league decided it was time to move on from Andrew Siciliano, Melissa Stark, James Palmer, and Will Selva. Normally these personnel cuts wouldn’t attract much more than well-wishes for the departing talent, but in this case, there is room to speculate that the moves are designed to help the NFL streamline its media operations in preparation for a big deal with Disney and ESPN.

Speaking with Axios, ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said that he believes the two leagues will continue negotiating as a single unit.
ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro doesn’t want the WNBA to be the one that got away. He also doesn’t expect the league’s games to be going anywhere; the WNBA played 25 games across ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 last season, and though it’s in line for a big raise from the $60 million per season that it currently collects from its broadcast partners, Pitaro confirmed to Axios recently that he does not believe the league will change its negotiating style or partners before signing its next contract.
The WNBA has been negotiating its deal jointly with the NBA, but recent reports have suggested it may try to break away and make a deal of its own. The WNBA’s current deal with broadcasters expires concurrently with the NBA’s after the 2024-25 season.

Despite some of the Ssu movies getting mixed or negative reviews (like Morbius), the Ssu keeps going and now has many live-action and animated projects in the works, focusing on Spider-Man’s side characters and villains. ‘Madame Web’ came out on February 14th and didn’t do well, with Dakota Johnson criticizing its development publicly.
Upcoming releases include ‘Kraven the Hunter’ on August 30th, 2024, and ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ which changed its release date to October 25th instead of November 3rd. ‘Venom’ is the most successful franchise in the Ssu, so it’s not surprising that there are reports of Feige wanting to bring him into the MCU.
Even though “The Last Dance” marks the conclusion of Venom’s current story, it doesn’t signal the end of Venom-related projects. Recently, there have been discussions about an animated R-rated Venom project in the works. Now, a prominent source, CanWeGetSomeToast, has...

It is already known that fans will definitely get a third Venom movie as actor Tom Hardy stated in August 2018 that he had signed on to star in three Venom films. So far, we have got two movies and both of them had a decent box office run. Although the movie is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu), it has been hinted in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage that the franchise might get integrated with Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A still from Venom (2018)
Recently, Sony announced the third film’s title, Venom: The Last Dance, a phrase which is often used to describe the last act. Sony also revealed that the film is all set to hit the theatres on October 25th, 2024. In a recent interview, industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed his opinion on the film’s title, suspecting that the film’s going to be a “symbiote mayhem.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, or Ssu, is growing bigger, and it all started with the movie ‘Venom’ in 2018. College Football Playoff Contract With ESPN Not Finalized Yet; Cfp Rep Says Reporting Is 'Incorrect'
Recent conference realignment has thrown a wrench into broadcast negotiations as playoff structure must be determined before TV contracts.
In the words of iconic ESPN college football analyst Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend.” Despite reports earlier this month that Disney and the College Football Playoff Committee had reached a six-year to ESPN’s exclusive broadcast agreement for the Cfp playoffs, Yahoo! Sports is reporting that this is not the case. According to documents secured by the outlet, the appropriate playoff executives have not even reviewed a draft of the new proposal and any reporting that suggests that a deal is done was not accurate.
Key Points: Despite reporting last week that an extension has been reached a Cfp rep says that is “incorrect.” Previous reports indicated that ESPN had secured the playoff rights through the 2031-32 season. Recent conference realignment has made finalizing broadcast deals difficult. Sign Up Now $10.99+ / month espnplus.
