The Greatest Love Story Never Told (2024)
Not jumping the negativity bandwagon, but...
This documentary is a little without substance, the acting is poor, the screenplay is thin, there's no spontaneity, everything sounds fake and not genuine. It can be skipped without giving you major FOMO. It's not a great fun film to watch and there's not much to take away from it either. The title seems made up as well and has little to do with the contents. Perhaps it was chosen to lure women who are into love stories. But it doesn't make justice to the contents, it's a bit fake and nothing in this film sounds very spontaneous to be honest. One great example is the scene where J Lo claims that she used to run up and down the block with a messy hair when she was 16 (for which J Lo was exposed). Her hair was actually pretty neat in a school picture she took at the time. The school was also not exactly a school for not haves, the premises were literally a mansion, and tuition ran at about $12K a year per some estimates and testimonies. Girls were not the excluded low class type, it was an all-girls school and I assume none had to work for a living based on their good looks. The bad tongues have that J Lo leveraged that urban legend portrayed in her Jenny from the Block hit as way to garner more fame and popularity, but the story is far from truth in actuality (she was never humble). Now, should I be bashing this film? I don't know, but maybe the fact that J Lo has so many horror stories about how she treats people who she deems beneath her will make me feel less guilty.
Porky's (1981)
I think the reason most people loved this movie in the 80's
It's cause there weren't many other sources of porno to turn to (at the times it was mostly magazines sold at the news stands with a black plastic blocking the cover). And teens are not judgmental or very righteous for that matter. You could see this as just a xvideos video with a longer story. Actually, in some other countries, similar semi-porn movies were also being made, such as the pornochanchada from the late 70s and early 80's in Brazil.
I think it did a good job also of disappointing the hypocrite Catholic church, so that was a bonus.
However it came with quite a lot of prejudice and hurtful phrases, which for the 80's was just business as usual. Although the 80's were great for music and art, it was a horrendously prejudiced time.
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 (2012)
I watched most episodes on a plane trip and loved it
This show is amazingly creative, the text is fabulous, the jokes are always
hilarious, and I love the dark and politically incorrect humor.
Chloe is hilarious, so is June, they have incredible chemistry together and
I was sad to see this show had only 2 seasons.
Of course this show won't be for you if you're easily offended by political incorrectness, mean protagonists (though deep inside they're not 100% evil), and if you expect seriousness and realism in a movie. This movie is almost cartoonish.
And some characters are obviously not very interesting, such as the Asian lady who's fanatic about Chloe (perhaps lesbian?), but you have to overlook them.
