Find a place to display your beaver prominently and order some Titan condoms from Amazon because Pamela Anderson is joining Liam Neeson for The Naked Gun reboot. While today’s Deadline article fails to mention who Anderson is playing, we assume she’ll play the romantic lead opposite Neeson’s Frank Drebin Jr. Lisa Marie Presley played the love interest of Leslie Nielsen’s Lt. Frank Drebin in the original comedy film, resulting in some unforgettable and hilarious moments and sight gags.
After filming 110 episodes of the jiggly action TV series Baywatch, Pamela Anderson is no stranger to comedy. In addition to running in slow motion alongside David Hasselhoff, Yasmine Bleeth, Jeremy Jackson, and more, Anderson starred in Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie. The Naked Gun reboot carries a lot of pressure from fans of the Leslie Nielsen-led trilogy, but I’ve got a great feeling about this inspired casting choice.

Sometimes your entire world can change in a single moment. For a young Tia Carrere’s world became more excellent one trip a local grocery store where the parents of a man who was producing a movie saw her and told her about this movie their son was shooting. This would lead Tia Carrere to land a role in the film Aloha Summer. She says she was super nervous because she had never acted before and hadn’t even thought of it as an option in her life but she did it! Ms Carrere grew up wanting to be a singer…. and she did that too!
After rocking everyone’s world in the Wayne’s World cinematic universe film franchise, Tia Carrere became a household name in the early nineties while also standing toe to toe with some of the biggest names in the business. But after a few bad turns...

Here's something you probably didn't expect to see today: A trailer for a Chinese remake of the '90s horror B-movie classic "Anaconda." Yes, really. And, to be perfectly honest, you're probably not prepared for just how bonkers this thing looks. Of course the original movie is pretty bonkers on its own, but this is taking things to another level. Before we discuss this further, it's probably best you watch this insanity for yourself. Check it out above.
So yeah ... much to discuss, much to process. First and foremost, the broad beats of the plot appear to be in line with the original film, with some extra stuff thrown in there. Most notably, there appears to be a lot more giant snake action. The original "Anaconda" had an animatronic snake that was very tough to work with, which limited director Luis Llosa a bit. Here? It's just lots of pretty decent CGI craziness.

Devastating news for fans of canine cameos: Messi, the scene-stealing border collie from best picture nominee Anatomy of a Fall and unlikely star of the 2024 Oscar campaign season, will not return to Los Angeles for Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Though reps for the Academy did not comment, a source at the Neon-distributed film says the French pup’s recent Hollywood sojourn, during which he overshadowed every human actor at the annual nominees luncheon, was a one-off. That means those A-Listers who didn’t get face time with Messi will just have to book a part in one of his future projects.
“All of this attention began at Cannes,” trainer and dog mom Laura Martin told The Hollywood Reporter in February, via translator Frederic Cassidy. Cannes is where Anatomy of a Fall started its run on the awards circuit, taking home the Palme d’Or, and where Messi got...

1980s television series Baywatch is getting the reboot treatment at Fox, and here are the details of the new show.
Baywatch is perennialy parodied in mainstream media. Whether it’s the melodramatic scripts or the iconic slow motion running, with the show became a byword for televisual cheese. Perhaps most memorably, it featured as a major plot point in 2006 film Borat, as the title character becomes infatuated with Pamela Anderson. It also formed part of 2019 Disney+ drama Pam And Tommy, which saw Lily James play Anderson as she deals with sexism on the Baywatch set
Nevertheless, the show was and remains hugely popular, launching the global careers of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. It followed a group of lifeguards as they patrol the beaches of LA County, and was sold right around the globe.
It ran in its initial form for 241 episodes over eleven seasons from 1989 to 2001, with a spin-off,...

Fox is taking viewers back to the beach with a reboot of an iconic '90s series.
According to a new report from Deadline, the network has joined forces with the indie studio Fremantle to bring David Hasselhoff's beach rescue drama Baywatch back to the small screen.
The remake is being described as an “action-packed” take on the original material, with Lara Olsen serving as showrunner.
It looks as though Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth, and the other stars of the original series are not involved with the reboot at this time.
But we wouldn't be surprised if the Hoff and company wind up making cameos.
Interestingly, the new version of Baywatch is one of two lifeguard dramas set to premiere on Fox in the year to come.
Following strike delays, Rescue: Hi-Surf is set to debut in the fall of 2024.

Slow-motion isn’t just for Zack Snyder films anymore! A Baywatch reboot is in the works at Fox, and the beach will never be the same again! Fox is requesting a sizable script and a penalty deal for the time-honored (and arguably horny) lifeguard drama, with Fremantle and Fox Entertainment co-producing.
We’ve known about a Baywatch reboot since April when Deadline reported Fremantle’s desire to bring fun in the sun back to televisions. At the time, Fox was developing another lifeguard drama, Rescue: Hi-Surf, from John Wells Productions. Rescue, a co-production between Warner Bros. TV and Fox Entertainment, is still going forward, with a fall 2024 launch as the project’s window. Regardless of prepping Rescue: Hi-Surf, Fox is ready to hit the sands with more than one lifeguard drama, hence the Baywatch reboot.

Could Kitt ride again? Scooper Daniel Richtman took to his Patreon to claim that not only is Universal Pictures developing a Knight Rider movie, but that John Cena is already attached to star.
Richtman added that Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows (The Package) are writing the script. The modern comic book movie era -- which began in, take your pick, 1998 with Stephen Norrington's surprise hit "Blade", 2000 with Bryan Singer's bonafide blockbuster "X-Men," or 2002 with Sam Rami's four-quadrant phenomenon "Spider-Man -- might've looked a lot different had certain key players signed on to write and/or direct different projects that were in the works at the same time as the films wound up turning superhero flicks into the dominant genre of the 21st century thus far (though that may be changing).
The period between the release of "Blade" and the shocking success of Jon Favreau's "Iron Man" was rife with maneuvering within multiple studios, particularly when it came to the Marvel Universe. 20th Century Fox controlled the rights to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, Sony owned Spider-Man, Universal had the Hulk and Sub-Mariner, and New Line battled like hell to make an...

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be winding down in earnest (films like "The Marvels" and shows like "Secret Invasion" aren't nearly as successful as their forbears), perhaps audiences may finally be able to speak about the series as it if weren't an inevitability. The MCU indeed stood like a mighty colossus over the entire film industry for the better part of 15 years, but there was nothing beyond our uncreative assumptions to indicate that it had to happen or that it would last forever.
Perhaps with that attitude gone, audiences will be able to see films like "Blade" as a stylish action/horror flick unto itself, and not a dry run for something better down the line. Perhaps the 1996 pilot for "Generation X" can be accepted merely as a low-budget, MTV-inflected take on the X-Men. And perhaps TV movies like David Goyer's 1998 actioner "Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D....

Nicole Newnham’s The Disappearance of Shere Hite is so packed with ideas, timelines, and input from various participants that a documentary twice as long would have been justified. Such is the significance of Shere Hite’s life and writings in the 1970s and ’80s on the subject of sex, particularly women’s bodies and how they typically achieve orgasm.
Hite’s 1976 book The Hite Report has become an all-time bestseller, in large part due to the controversy it sparked following its publication. While the film’s title initially suggests a mystery, Newnham’s remarkable use of archival footage, especially of Hite being ceaselessly berated on talk shows, composes such a clear and coherent portrait of her eventual exile from American culture that the film becomes a furious indictment of an openly repressive society.
While Newnham takes a mostly linear approach to explaining the trajectory of Hite’s research and fame,...

Growing up in a multicultural household, Fassbender was exposed to both German and Irish culture. Despite this, he was primarily raised in Ireland and considers himself Irish. He has an older sister, Catherine, who is a noted neuropsychologist.
Fassbender’s interest in acting was stirred at a young age. At 19, he left home to study at the Drama Centre London. However, he dropped out in 1999 to perform in the play ‘Three Sisters’ with the Oxford Stage Company.

One of the curious things about "The Twilight Zone's" enduring popularity is that Rod Serling's classic anthology series has been rebooted three separate times, and even spun off into movies, and yet the original series is still considered the gold standard. You'll hear "Star Trek" fans sing the praises of "The Original Series," sure, but you'll also find lots of them who think the franchise peaked with "The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine," or "Enterprise." But the reboots of the "Twilight Zone" aren't nearly as well remembered or celebrated as the original series, no matter how many great filmmakers or actors appeared in them.
Take the first TV reboot, for example. That version of "The Twilight Zone" aired for three seasons between 1985 and 1989 — peak, influential pop culture years — and featured episodes directed by cinematic luminaries like Wes Craven, Joe Dante, John Milius, Curtis Harrington, Bill Duke, Martha Coolidge,...

It’s hard to believe that The Young and the Restless has been delighting audiences for 50 years. The CBS daytime soap is one of the few that is still running after all these years, and it is more than just a show – it is a family. According to Reader’s Digest, well over 12,000 episodes have aired and it has become one of the longest-running series on television. There was plenty of celebration to mark both the momentous anniversary, and, of course, the fact that The Young and the Restless has stayed in the Bell family for 50 years.

After the roughly 15 years that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has existed as a franchise, it feels like the studio's movies can be neatly summarized into a few groups. You have your reliable crowd-pleasers and buzzy crossovers -- 2012's "The Avengers," "Infinity War" and Endgame," "Spider-Man: No Way Home," and the like -- that deliver more or less what audiences expected, offering something for everyone and raking in historic box office profits as a result. Then there are the polarizing ones, movies like "Iron Man 3" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," all of which alienated certain segments of the fandom because of controversial creative choices made by strong-willed directors who were never going to completely toe the company line.
But there's an even more interesting category of MCU film that feels like a perfect amalgamation of both. James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy...

In 2021, Wesley Snipes used an Esquire "What I've Learned" column to make a fascinating confession: "I've got to learn how to be a movie star."
Snipes was 58 at the time of the article's publication, and enjoying a career renaissance due to his portrayal of actor-director D'Urville Martin in Craig Brewster's uproarious "Dolemite Is My Name." Though he'd officially made his comeback as an aging gang leader in Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq" four years prior, Martin was the perfect vehicle through which Snipes could examine the frustration of an ambitious artist shunted from A-list roles to low-aiming exploitation flicks.
Snipes' Martin is a bitter, alcoholic filmmaker trying, and failing miserably, to make nightclub comic Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy) look like a Blaxploitation action star on par with Richard Roundtree. Martin is a defeated man, and it's hard not to sense Snipes reckoning with the sun setting on his own action-hero stardom.

We are back for a brand new Let’s Scare Bryan to Death, where we’re going to Massachusetts by way of Italy with Fabrizio Laurenti’s 1988 Witchery. Our selection this month comes from director/screenwriter Michael Varrati, whose work includes some amazing short films, a segment in the horror holiday anthology Deathcember, and multiple episodes of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula. Varrati brings a sharp, darkly comical perspective to his work and his love of horror shines through in his work.
Varrati’s pick this month was actually released in In Italy as La Casa 4 and is part of a disjointed series that actually starts with the first two The Evil Dead movies, renamed La Casa and La Casa 2 for Italian audiences. Witchery forgoes the Evil Dead cabin for a big, old house on an island that can only be accessed by boat and is said to be haunted by a witch.

As the saying goes “All good things must come to an end.” This doesn’t mean, however, that someone responsible for creating something special can’t dream about it going on forever. This was exactly the case for William Bell, the creator of the hit daytime soap, The Young and the Restless. Bell, who passed away in 2005, was proud of what he accomplished, and rightfully so. Now that the show is celebrating 50 years on the air, his daughter, Lauralee Bell, is talking about how her father never saw an end to the soap.

Ready to take a slow-motion run on the beach? Because “Baywatch” is coming back, TheWrap can confirm. Freemantle is developing a reboot of the memorable syndicated series and are out to several streamers and linear broadcasters. There are no creatives currently attached.
The original show, which resurrected the career of “Knight Rider” star David Hasselhoff (turning him into a sensation overseas) and popularized Pamela Anderson, first aired on NBC in 1989. It ran for a season on NBC before become a staple of syndication’s golden era, airing until summer 2001. “Baywatch” was essentially a prime time soap opera, based around a group of lifeguards – both the emergencies that they are faced with and their messy interpersonal relationships.
“Baywatch” inspired a spinoff called “Baywatch Nights,” running from 1995 to 1997. The original version of the show featured Hasselhoff, whose character was now part of a private detective agency (the show started life as a...

“There are currently no creatives attached to the reboot,” noted Deadline.
The series made international stars of the likes of David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
The idea for rebooting “Batwatch” has actually been kicking around for a few years; back in 2018, Fremantle International COO Bob McCourt told Deadline that a remake has “definitely been discussed,” despite the box-office failure of the 2017 “Baywatch” movie starring Dwayne Johnson.

If you thought the trend of rebooting once hot shows was dying down, we have some news for you...
As much as we would love to report it is, the trend seems more in demand than ever.
The latest series getting the update treatment is Baywatch.
Deadline reported this week that Fremantle is prepping an updated iteration of the late 1980s and 1990s series.
While the project is very much in its infancy, the company has had talks with broadcasters and streaming services, no creatives are currently attached.
The original series failed to catch on when it launched in 1989 on NBC and was canceled after a single season.
But the show got a second chance at life in syndication and later became the most-watched series in the world.
It's interesting that giving a project time to find an audience actually leads to results.
You'd think the networks would have been...

Time to suit up and head back to the beach! Deadline reports that Fremantle is developing a reboot of Baywatch, the classic 90s action drama which starred David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and more.
It’s still early days as no creatives are attached to the Baywatch reboot, but Fremantle has had early talks with networks and streaming services about the project. Baywatch was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann, and followed a group of lifeguards who patrolled the beaches of LA County. The show was originally produced for NBC but was cancelled after just one season. The producers believed in the series enough that they bought back the rights and produced a syndicated version of the series. The bet paid off big time as Baywatch became one of the most-watched shows in the world and ran for ten more seasons. The show also spawned a spinoff series,...
