While some have fallen short, there are lesser-known gems from the 2000s worth revisiting, especially now that they are available for streaming on Prime.
What Is This Show About?
One such gem is The Dead Zone, a TV series that aired on the USA Network for six seasons before its cancellation in 2007 due to the Writers Guild of America strike.
Loosely based on Stephen King's 1979 novel, the series centers on Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall), who awakens from a six-year coma with a unique ability: any contact with objects or people triggers visions of the past or future. This phenomenon is believed to be the activation of a previously unused part of his brain, the "dead zone," compensating for the damaged areas.
Johnny uses his newfound abilities to assist local authorities in solving cold cases while grappling with apocalyptic visions involving politician Greg Stillson (Sean Patrick Flanery). The series also features Nicole de Boer,...

Paramount+ premiered the werewolf horror series “Wolf Pack” back in January 2023, and TV Line reports tonight that the series has already been cancelled after just one season.
Sarah Michelle Gellar made her return to horror in the series.
TV Line reports, “Last summer’s dual Hollywood strikes were the final nail in Wolf Pack‘s coffin. According to sources, a potential second season would not have been ready for nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 1.”
“Wolf Pack,” written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills.
Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

Since her work on “The Dropout” has already brought her an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award, Amanda Seyfried only needs a Screen Actors Guild Award in order to complete her major industry TV prize sweep. Based on the fact that no woman who has been nominated for all four awards and won the Emmy first has failed to win the other three, her path to victory is arguably clearer than that of any other 2023 SAG Award contender. If she is successful on this final bid, she will be the 12th woman to win both a lead Emmy and a SAG Award for the same TV movie or miniseries performance.
Lead actresses make up the largest subset of non-continuing program Emmy-to-sag Award champions, followed by lead actors with seven examples, supporting actors with three, and supporting actresses with two. The group of female stars Seyfried is looking...

After nearly two decades of having her individual performances overlooked by Screen Actors Guild Awards voters, Amanda Seyfried has finally earned solo recognition from the organization thanks to her work on Hulu’s “The Dropout.” Her Best TV Movie/Miniseries Actress bid for the show comes 10 years after her only other SAG Awards outing as a “Les Misérables” film ensemble member. Given that she has already collected an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award this season, she stands a strong chance of becoming the sixth female star of a non-continuing program to complete a modern industry awards sweep.
“The Dropout,” which is adapted from Rebecca Jarvis’ six-part podcast of the same name, tells the true story of how former chemical engineering student Elizabeth Holmes (played by Seyfried) fraudulently collected millions of dollars to fund her health technology company, Theranos. What eventually led to her 11-year prison sentence...

Let’s hope this really is a done deal: All My Children‘s Lindsay Hartley has revealed via Twitter that Darnell Williams (aka Jesse Hubbard!) is set to join her when (or if?) the soap relaunches on The Online Network next year.
Prospect Park has yet to officially confirm the news, but should it prove true, Williams’ casting would bring to three the number of Pine Valley faves following the former ABC soap to the web. (Cameron Mathison previously signed on.)
Sadly, Jesse will be without his Angie (at least the original one) in the new P.V., as Debbi Morgan...

Over the years, the Emmys has demonstrated an affinity for certain familiar genres in the races for Best Comedy and Best Drama: the family sitcom (“The Cosby Show,” “Modern Family”), the office comedy (“The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “The Office”), the police procedural (“Hill Street Blues,” “NYPD Blue”) and the courtroom drama (“The Defenders,” “The Practice”). And the races for Best TV Movie and Miniseries have been filled with historical biopics (“Eleanor and Franklin,” “John Adams”) and literary adaptations (“Roots,” “Nicholas Nickleby”). But Emmy has continually turned a blind eye to science-fiction and fantasy programs. They represent some of the most popular and acclaimed shows in television history, but only one has ever won an award for Best Series (“Lost,” in 2005), and a scant few have prevailed in the Movie/Min...

With all the new shows that the networks put out it can be hard to tell which ones will be sure fire hits and which ones just won’t click with anybody, not no way not no how. So I decided to look at the new shows this season, the ones that are still around anyway, and look at the new stock that are doing surprisingly well and the ones that shouldn’t be too surprising are hits. And I’d like to give a shout out to Trauma. Sorry Trauma, but it looks like the world doesn’t need yet another medical show, but at least Mercy seems to be hanging in there for the moment.
The Surprising:
1. Cougar Town- I’m sorry but I thought this show had disaster written all over it. Mostly for the fact that its main focus is to just jumping on a...

Got a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Just want to say hi? You can send any/all of the above to ausielloscoop@ew.com Question: G'day! How about you share some Glee scoop? —Vivian Ausiello: Okay, mate. There's a crazy-ass rumor going around that Will will discover Terri's faux baby plot, dump her, and then, in a moment of passion, get her pregnant for real! The really crazy-ass part? Sources confirm that two of those three things are true! And the other one? Not so much. Question: I loved the Rachel-Puck hook-up in last week's Glee!

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Be sure to check out the new release dates listed at the end of this week's post. The release date for that 70th Anniversary DVD and Blu-ray edition of The Wizard of Oz has been announced. The Seventh Seal and Bergman Island (Criterion Collection) I just reviewed the Blu-ray edition of this release and it is an absolute must buy. Not only do you get one of the greatest films I have ever seen in an absolutely stellar presentation, but you also get the fantastic 83-minute documentary Bergman Island. The film is also being released on two-disc special edition DVD, but that release doesn't come with Bergman Island included, which is why I certainly recommend the Blu-ray edition if you are so equipped. You can read my Blu-ray review right here for further product description, but if I were...
