The invitation read “dress code: Fashion,” and guests at the second annual Fashion Trust U.S. Awards didn’t disappoint – with Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jessica Biel, Andra Day, Awkwafina, Heidi Klum, Janelle Monaé and Kelsea Ballerini showing up in head-turning looks.

When Mr. & Mrs. Smith was announced as a TV series for Prime Video in 2021, there were plenty of reasons to be skeptical about the project.
It was based on a movie of the same name that did reasonably well but isn't especially well-remembered.
The announced starring duo of Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge was intriguing, especially considering that both performers were credited as creators.
Both had a history of starring in and creating successful series, including Glover with Atlanta and Waller-Bridge with Fleabag. Plus, Waller-Bridge served as the showrunner in the first season of Killing Eve, another prestige series about an assassin.
But then Waller-Bridge dropped out of the project just a few months after it was announced due to "creative differences," with Maya Erskine replacing her as the show's female lead. Glover and Francesca Sloane are credited as the co-creators.

The Fast and Furious franchise has been around since 2001, wowing audiences with its thrilling car chases, street racing, heists, and so much more. Starting the movie series with The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and others, it kickstarted a franchise thay has endured for more than two decades. Its latest addition was Fast X, which saw the return of many actors, including Dwayne Johnson, who had bid goodbye to the franchise some years back.

Two days ago, I mentioned to the loved ones I was spending Christmas with that I knew exactly where I was 25 years earlier. On the evening of December 25, 1998, I was sitting in a movie theatre, taking in an opening day screening of director Robert Rodriguez‘s alien invasion horror film The Faculty (watch it Here). Now, two days after the film’s 25th anniversary, scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed on his Patreon page that Rodriguez is producing a remake of The Faculty!
That’s all of the information that’s available at this time. The Faculty is getting a remake and Robert Rodriguez is on board as producer.
Rodriguez directed the original The Faculty from a screenplay by Scream writer Kevin Williamson (working from a story by David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel). The film has the following synopsis: To the students at Harrington High, the principal and her posse of...

This episode of Revisited was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Adam Walton and Chris Bumbray, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Over-the-top action sequences. Bone-crunching fights between titans of the action genre. A popular horror director getting his chance to make a massive-budget blockbuster. Fast & Furious 7 (watch it Here) brings all of those elements to the table. But it’s primarily remembered for being a production that was disrupted by tragedy. And we’re going to look into how it all played out in this episode of Revisited.
Universal Pictures doesn’t have a lot of major blockbuster franchises. In 2012, Jurassic Park had been dormant for a decade and the Bourne Identity movies had lost Jason Bourne. So they really only had Fast and Furious. It makes sense that while they were sending the sixth movie out into the world,...

Updated to clarify entity that was fined: The UK production entity behind 2021’s Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga has been fined £800,000 ($1 million) after one of its stuntmen suffered brain damage after a fall during production.
Joe Watts suffered a broken skull after falling eight metres onto concrete and landing on his head, in an accident during the filming of Fast 9 at Warner Bros’ studios in Hertfordshire, UK, in July 2019.
The BBC reports that a judge considered Watts “lucky to be alive,” after hearing that his safety line became detached during a stunt that was rehearsed but changed during filming. The court heard that the safety line was not checked between takes. District Judge Talwinder Buttar, sitting at Luton Magistrates Court, criticized the decision to alter the stunt “at the last minute,” adding that the matting underneath should also have been adjusted.
The prosecution was brought by the Health and Safety Executive,...

A new NYPD detective will be joining the force on the upcoming 23rd season of Law & Order. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Veep alum Reid Scott has joined the upcoming season as a new series regular on the NBC police procedural, portraying an as-yet unamed NYPD detective.
Scott will feel the void left by former series regular Jeffrey Donovan, who recently exited the show over creative differences. Donovan portrayed Det. Frank Cosgrove in seasons 21 and 22 of the mothership Law & Order drama from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment.
This marks the second detective change on the revival. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Det. Kevin Bernard from the series’ original run, left after Season 21 and was succeeded by Mehcad Brooks, who joined the cast in Season 22 as Frank’s new partner Jalen Shaw.
The Law & Order cast also includes Sam Waterston as Da Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nolan Price, and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.
Law & Order, which premieres its 23rd season on January 18, 2024, is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Scott recently starred in the fifth and final season of Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after recurring in Season 4. He can currently be seen starring in the “Daphne” episode of FX anthology series American Horror Stories. He earlier starred on another Emmy-winning comedy, HBO’s Veep, for seven seasons. Scott just wrapped production on the Amazon film Idea of You, starring opposite Anne Hathaway and directed by Michael Showalter. Reid also stars in, and executive produced the pandemic comedy Who Invited Charlie? opposite Adam Palley and Jordana Brewster, as well as the comedy ensemble Wildflower. Scott is repped by Gersh, Impression Entertainment and Ggssc.

The Fast & Furious movies saga, a robust international action series created by Gary Scott Thompson, has proven to be much more than its humble beginnings as a street racing storyline in 2001. Who would have predicted the evolution from gritty street races to the cinematic spectacle of dragging bank vaults across the asphalt, airborne cars, submarine escapes, and speculative alien encounters? However, following the franchise’s timeline can feel like being in a high-speed chase.
To experience the Fast & Furious events as they chronologically unfold, the journey begins with the first two installments: The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Unexpectedly, the third in the series, Tokyo Drift, doesn’t follow immediately after, as it’s set further down the timeline. Instead, viewers should pivot to Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6 before returning to Tokyo Drift.

Given how outlandish and enormous the "Fast & Furious" film series would eventually become, it's a little mind-boggling to remember that Rob Cohen's 2001 original, "The Fast and the Furious," was little more than a mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff. The story goes that star Paul Walker, having enjoyed working with Cohen on the 2000 college thriller "The Skulls" was asked what his dream action project would be. Walker said that he wanted to appear in an action movie mashup of "Days of Thunder" and "Donnie Brasco." That is: something with fast cars, but also a cop who goes undercover to infiltrate the criminal underground. The subsequent screenplay, written by Gary Scott Thompson, drew inspiration from a 1998 article in Vibe Magazine all about the New York underground racing scene. David Ayer was brought in to work on a draft, and he changed the setting to Los Angeles and made the cast more diverse.

On Entourage, the central tension always involved the question of whether Vince was gonna do the movie. Only there was never really any tension, because of course Vince was gonna do the movie — or, if he didn’t, things would in some other way work out just fine for him, E, Turtle, and even Johnny Drama. Yet for a show with no real stakes and only a modest level of humor (especially if you weren’t amused by Ari screaming actionable insults at Lloyd), it ran for eight seasons. And a movie!

By now, the beats of an aspiring-musician saga are as familiar as those of a fairy tale. There’s the hungry young artist who seems marked for stardom long before the rest of the world has caught on. There’s the crappy starter apartment, and the glitzy industry parties, and the boardroom meetings with labels who don’t quite get it. There’s the moment when the hero hears his own song on the radio, and the moment when he caves to the temptations of fame, and the moment he’s made to decide to be true to himself.
Sometimes, in the darker iterations of this story, there’s also the spectacular crash after the meteoric rise; in the more thoughtful or incisive versions, there might be conversations about the limitations of his art or the compromises it demands or its impact on the world. But Neon is not that tale.

Do you know what we don’t get enough in movies? Vehicle-based heists. I jest of course but Overhaul (originally titled Cargo Maxima in its native Brazil) feels very much like yet another entry in the Fast & Furious franchise… Well, before it dropped the “and the” from the title! Yes, this is a throwback to the more basic, less “out of this world” antics of the early Vin Diesel films, when it was all about the car racing/cop chase action rather than unbelievable superhero-esque antics of Dom and co. in the more recent franchise entries.
The plot is pretty simple. Truck racer – yes you read that right – Truck racer, Roger Matos (Thiago Martins) is suffering in both his personal and professional life and when his father dies...

The plot is pretty simple. Truck racer – yes you read that right – Truck racer, Roger Matos (Thiago Martins) is suffering in both his personal and professional life and when his father dies...

Lauren Sánchez was honored at This Is About Humanity’s 5th annual fundraising soirée on Saturday, where she gave a special shout-out to fiancé Jeff Bezos during her speech.
This is About Humanity is an organization dedicated to raising awareness and support for separated and reunified families at the U.S.-Mexico border, and the group toasted Sánchez after she donated over $1 million to its cause. Universal Pictures announced this morning that Fast X, the tenth main installment in its long-running action saga Fast & Furious, will head to Peacock September 15th following a theatrical run that kicked off in May.
Coming to the platform the same day are three other installments: Fast and Furious 6, Fate of the Furious, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. And then, there’s Furious 7, which will be available for streaming there starting October 1st.
Fast X again reunites us with globe-trotting street racer Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew, who, ever since their saga started on the streets of L.A.’s underground racing scene, have overcome impossible odds to outsmart, out-nerve and outdrive every foe. Yet when the team took down a nefarious kingpin back in Brazil, they had no idea his son Dante (Jason Momoa) was watching from the shadows. More lethal than any other enemy they’ve faced,...

Intro: Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner head down to Rio for the fifth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise. The most popular of the sequels, this one reunites Dom and Brian with several friends from previous films. Brings Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson into the ensemble. And takes the whole series in a new direction. The movie is Fast Five, and it’s about to be Revisited.
Set-up: Justin Lin thought he was done with the Fast and Furious movies after directing two of them. But while doing press for the fourth film in the series in 2009, he met a lot of passionate fans who had him re-thinking his plan to step away. And then Universal not only promised that the filmmaker would be able to do something different with the fifth film – they demanded that it be something different. After two sequels apart, the Fast and Furious family is reunited in the fourth film. Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, the gang’s all here. And yes, they’re racing cars once again… but this time the stakes are life or death. We’re going back to 2009 to talk about Fast & Furious (watch it Here) for this episode of Revisited.
Universal tried something different with the third film in the Fast and Furious franchise. Rather than make it a direct follow-up to the previous films, they brought in new characters. Teenagers they thought would be more appealing to the youth market. They got a decent movie out of it, but not a lot of pay-off. Tokyo...

Narrowing down the best movies in any genre is tough, but for lesbian films you have to begin with a reductive question: What is a lesbian film? What, in fact, is a lesbian?.
Must the film focus primarily on a gay storyline, or can it feature strong lesbian characters doing something entirely different than just being lesbians? Is subtext enough, or must the sapphic be explicit? How much cinephile wrath will rain down on us for the absence of a certain recent Oscar winner?
Compared to the stand-outs of queer television, the best lesbian movies have relatively little time to convey their perspective on the vast, varied, (sometimes) vaginal lesbian experience. And yet, ultimately, the best lesbian films honor not just their own perspectives, but also the glory and traditions of all of queer cinema. Strong women, high entertainment value, and bold visuals reign supreme.

It's been nearly 20 years since Gabrielle Solis ogled her teenage gardener, John Rowland, in the 2004 premiere of ABC's hit dramedy "Desperate Housewives." But on Friday night, it was like no time at all had passed when Eva Longoria and Jesse Metcalfe reunited on the red carpet for the premiere of her directorial debut, "Flamin' Hot." The former costars greeted each other like old friends and gamely posed for a series of nostalgic photos.
Longoria and Metcalfe smiled, laughed, and even held hands during their red carpet reunion. The sweet snaps are a reminder that even though the former costars often go long stretches without seeing one another, they always show up for each other when it matters the most. For instance, when Metcalfe appeared on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2020, Longoria was quick to support her pal.
"She's always been a very supportive and loving friend," Metcalfe told Hello! at the time.

When it comes to planning a "Barbie" double-feature, the popular, oft-memed choice has to be Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer." After all, his historical epic is opening in theaters on the same day as Greta Gerwig's candy-colored take on the popular toy, so it makes sense for dynamic movie lovers to balance out one with the other. But the new issue of Total Film features an interview with the cast of "Barbie" that has me brainstorming yet another aesthetically opposite double feature: "Barbie" and "Fast X."
The Margot Robbie-led film might seem like it doesn't have much in common with the long-running action saga, but the two productions actually shared something major: a production location. Robbie told Total Film that during the five-month "Barbie" shoot on the Warner Bros. lot in the UK, one production was actually neighbors with the other. "You've never seen so many grown men find excuses to come to set,...

Vin Diesel loves when the “Fast & Furious” family comes together.
Diesel spoke with Et’s Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, where he reacted to the shocking “Fast X” credits scene, which features Dwayne Johnson’s return to the franchise as Agent Luke Hobbs.
Following a social media spat between Diesel and Johnson, Johnson vowed in 2021 that there was “no chance” of him returning to star in a “Fast & Furious” movie — with plans instead to spin off his and Jason Statham’s characters in a series of “Hobbs & Shaw” films.
However, the “Fast X” post-credits scene features Jason Momoa’s villain calling Hobbs to tell him he’s coming for him next — all but confirming Johnson’s return for the 11th “Fast” film.
“We have such a great cast,” Diesel shared when asked about the surprise return.

By now we should all know what to expect when we go to see a Fast and Furious film. They give us over-the-top, oftentimes ridiculous, action set pieces, and in between those set pieces will be Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) talking about family. Many people seem to have turned away from that ridiculousness, from the crazy, gravity and logic-defying moments each film gets, and instead call the films pointless. For myself, I accepted what these films are a long time ago, and if like me, you have accepted what they are too, then there is fun to be had.

The 10th instalment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise was off to the races this weekend, knocking “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” out of first place and easily claiming the No. 1 spot at the box office. “Fast X” earned $67.5 million in ticket sales from 4,046 North American theatres, according to estimates from Universal Pictures on Sunday.
It’s on the lower end of openings for the series which peaked with “Furious 7’s” $142.2 million launch, the sole movie in the series to surpass $100 million out of the gates. “Fast X’s” domestic debut only ranks above the first three. The last movie, “F9”, opened to $70 million in 2021.
But this is also a series that has usually made the bulk of its money internationally, often over 70%. True to form, overseas it’s on turbo drive. “Fast X” opened in 84 markets internationally, playing in over 24,000 theatres, where it earned an estimated $251.4 million.

Vin Diesel isn’t ready to call it quits officially just yet!
Diesel spoke with Et’s Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, and he played coy when asked exactly how much more fuel the Fast and Furious franchise has in the tank.
While fans already know that the new Fast X isn’t the end of the road — as Diesel announced at this year’s CinemaCon that an 11th film is slated for release in 2025 — many are wondering just how many more installments could be expected.
For Diesel, this is a delicate subject — specifically because of how much love there is for the franchise as a whole.
“The last time I told my daughter [it] was the last one, all I saw was tears,” Diesel said with a small laugh. “So I gotta be really careful [about] who and what I say.

When Rob Cohen made "The Fast and the Furious" in 2001, he couldn't possibly have known that it would eventually spawn one of the largest film franchises of all time. The original film was downright modest, even wispy, when compared to some of the more recent chapters in the overblown "Furious" franchise. In it, an LAPD cop named Johnny Utah ... er, I mean Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) goes undercover in the strange and ultra-cool world of surfers ... er, I mean L.A. street racers to track down and arrest their ringleader Bodhi ... er, I mean Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) for a recent rash of high-profile thefts. Michelle Rodriguez appeared as Letty, Dom's girlfriend, and Jordana Brewster played Mia, Dom's sister and Brian's would-be paramour.
Over the course of the film's many sequels, Letty and Mia would eventually play larger and larger parts in the story and finally be allowed to do more than fall in love,...

This post contains spoilers for "Fast X."
Walking out of Louis Letterier's "Fast X," you may find yourself reminded of the sensation you felt leaving Denis Villeneuve's "Dune," when it became abundantly clear that, despite that film's title, only half of the story was being told. Fans knew long in advance that both stories would be split across multiple films, but it's one thing to read about that beforehand and another to viscerally experience it when the credits begin to roll.
Still, even though the Fast and Furious movies frequently flout the laws of physics in a way some may argue borders on science fiction, I'd argue "Fast X" actually shares much more DNA with Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Infinity War" than it does with Villeneuve's epic. "Infinity War" and "Fast X" were both billed as the first of a two-part conclusion (or is "Fast X" now the first of a three-part conclusion?...
