George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga returned to the wasteland and the grungy dystopian environment fans loved in 2015’s Fury Road. Alyla Browne and Anya Taylor-Joy took over the role of young Furiosa from Charlize Theron and the film explores her origins and adventures over 15-20 years.

As it is a prequel, many characters from Fury Road return including Immortan Joe and Nathen Jones’ Rictus. One of the scenes involving the latter and young Furiosa was particularly creepy in the film (deliberately). It seems some fans have personally expressed their anger to Jones for doing the scene. He recently addressed how audiences should separate reel characters from real life.

Thanks to photorealistic tech advancements, George Miller evolved his approach to VFX on the “Mad Max” franchise in the nine years since “Fury Road.” Which is why he was much more comfortable using CG in post on “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” His thrilling stunt-driven chase sequences were shot in-camera with as many practical effects as possible, but CG enabled him to achieve greater dynamic energy while enhancing his stylized world-building.
Back from “Fury Road” was production VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson of Dneg, who was eager to play with a bigger digital toolbox. This not only encompassed more realistic fire, water, dust, and smoke but also allowed the VFX team to extend the Wasteland desert landscape and skies and embellish the newly created Gas Town and Bullet Town environments. Plus, they were able to replace or augment the iconic vehicles (especially the multitude of motorcycles) for the action set pieces.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga recently crashed into theaters, marking our return to the Mad Max Universe. However, an homage to Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid series has sparked debate. Is the Dune star Oscar Issac the best fit to play the titular Solid Snake?
In a blink-and-you-miss-it scene, Praetorian Jack, as portrayed by Tom Burke, dons black face paint which produced a striking similarity to Snake’s bandana. The mixture of stealth-like cinematic combat and makeup instantly caught the attention of movie-goers.

Let’s face it, Quentin Tarantino’s truth bombs have always been intricate and delightful as the legendary director hardly refrains himself from making bold comments on anything related to movies. About 8 years ago, the director gave an eye-opening statement on movie ticket prices and it appears to be relevant even today.

Tarantino has a long and glorious career to his credit. Since his directorial debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, the director has given several acclaimed titles to global audiences. His unapologetic movies which often wrapped with the raw tale of the narratives on screen, elevated his legacy but in this process, Tarantino’s observation and experience in filmmaking gave him the insight to understand the ups and downs of the movie business.

George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is the newest addition to the Mad Max franchise, and the film has never looked as grim and exhilarating at the same time in the series’ history. The film is a treat for every viewer who craves action and an immersive storyline at the same time. Despite the current film being a prequel series, Miller has not held back in creating a violent world as he goes all out in creating a post-apocalyptic world.

The prequel to the 2015 film, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is a film directed by George Miller starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. It’s another mesmerizing chapter of the Mad Max saga that has continued to captivate audiences since its debut in 1979.
The original Mad Max, apart from skyrocketing Mel Gibson to fame, revolutionized American B-series cinema by creating a futuristic yet low-budget movie – a germination of ideas that other productions were quick to take advantage of.
Then came 2015 when George Miller decided to resurrect this title, providing a completely fresh experience while still abiding by the essence of the 70s movie. Now, we have this second installment, maintaining the original spirit but splashes even more action onto the screen – just what the audience craves.

Nine years after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road and nearly 45 years after his original Mad Max movie debut, George Miller brought Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The movie has raised eyebrows for the spectacular action sequences and the gravity of the origin story of the title character after the movie’s premiere at Cannes.

Cannes audiences also honored the Miller-directed movie starring Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiorsa with a seven-minute standing ovation. Further, the critical accolades were an indicator of the fact that Furiosa would be the next big hit in the franchise. However, the expectation of the movie took a U-turn when the movie debuted in the theaters on 23 May.

At the time of writing this, Sony has just announced the PlayStation State of Play for May 2024. With the summer showcase season, just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how Sony lays out their upcoming slate for the next few years.
Add to that the fact that this is Sony’s time to really shine and show everyone why PlayStation is king. With Xbox failing to deliver the goods as of late, and a lack of first party PS5 titles confirmed, now seems like the perfect time for the PlayStation State of Play to drop.
So below, each member of the FandomWire Gaming team has made a prediction for what they expect to see during the event respectively. I will list these below followed by a bit of commentary on how likely I believe each prediction is:

Tom Burke says he requested media training from the BBC to help him handle questions about J.K Rowling’s strident views on transgender rights.
Burke is currently on the publicity trail for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, but he has recently filmed Season 6 of BBC/HBO series Strike, which Rowling pens under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
The actor told The Independent that he asked for media training ahead of an interview with the publication, during which he was careful to remain neutral on the trans debate.
“I’ll preface all this by saying, what I want for that situation is for it to mend,” he said. “I want those disparate groups to find resolution. I don’t want to say anything in the wrong context, or at the wrong time, which is going to make the situation worse, because it’s not nice, right? There’s so much antipathy going on.

The violent Wasteland of George Millers Mad Max franchise isn't exactly bustling with sympathetic characters, and even the titular protagonist is really more of a reluctant hero doing what he can to survive.
2015's Fury Road did introduce a slightly more selfless take on Max (Tom Hardy) along with a genuinely heroic figure in the form of Furiosa (Charlize Theron), and in addition to charting the origin of the Immortan Joe's Imperator (now played by Anya Taylor-Joy), Miller's prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, features the debut of the thoughtful, compassionate Praetorian Jack (Tom Burke).
Spoilers follow.
Furiosa forms a close (possibly romantic) bond with Jack when she joins his crew, but their relationship comes to a tragic end when Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and his men ambush the War Rig at the Bullet Farm.

Warning: Spoilers ahead. The final moments with Furiosa and Praetorian Jack add significant emotional depth to the narrative. In the run-up to the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, one character was kept more under wraps than the others: Tom Burke’s Praetorian Jack. There was good reason for the secrecy. The new character is introduced about halfway through the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel film as the War Rig driver, known in the Citadel as something of a legend, having done more runs on the Fury Road than anyone else. Tom Burke knows how to play a toxic character, as proven by his work in films like “The Souvenir” and “Mank.” One might think playing a nice guy would come as an enjoyable change of pace for him, but when that nice guy is in a film like “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” keeping up with the pace can be its own separate challenge. In a recent interview with GQ, Burke recalls how, despite excitement around the possibility, he initially thought the role of Praetorian Jack — mentor to Furiosa — wouldn’t be one that fit him all that well.
“I thought, I’m not going to get that job,” said Burke, “but wow, that sounds amazing. Cut to my manager saying, ‘George Miller wants to have a chat with you.’ And I was like, ‘When? What’s he seen? ‘Souvenir?’’ I mean look, I’m proud of ‘Souvenir,’ I’m proud of ‘Mank,...

If you'd expected Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga to race away from The Garfield Movie with ease at the U.S. box office this long Memorial Day weekend, guess again. According to Deadline (via SFFGazette.com), they're in a dead heat of $31 million over four days and $25 million over three days.
One will ultimately emerge with the win but, as we write this, it's simply too soon to tell.
Critics sunk their claws into The Garfield Movie, something that's evident from its 37% Rotten Tomatoes score. In contrast, Furiosa is "Certified Fresh" at 89%.
Unfortunately, no matter who wins, it appears theaters will once again lose. This is the lowest opening for a Memorial Day weekend in 29 years (when Casper opened with a mere $22 million in 1995).
Where did it go wrong? The trade believes Warner Bros. Discovery waited too long to start hyping Furiosa, with the last leg of the marketing campaign...

One of the most anticipated prequel films of all time has to be George Miller‘s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. After the initial announcement back in 2010, the anticipation for the film only grew after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, and nearly 9 years later the film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it will exceed everyone’s expectations.
Based on the characters from Mad Max: Fury Road by Miller, the prequel film is directed by Miller from a screenplay co-written by Nico Lathouris and Miller and it follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is snatched from Green Place of Many Mothers and handed over to the great biker horde’s warlord Dementus as they make their way through the Wasteland and come across the Citadel ruled by Immortan Joe. As Dementus and Immortan...

The prequel film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it is as brilliant and bombastic as the original film. Obviously, we are talking about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to George Miller‘s 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by Miller from a screenplay by Nico Lathouris and Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is taken from Green Place of Many Mothers and tries to survive in the wasteland while trying to get back home but the war between great biker horde’s warlord Dementus and Immortan Joe makes it harder. Replacing Charlize Theron from Fury Road, Anya Taylor-Joy takes over the role of Furiosa in the prequel film and it also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, and Nathan Jones. So,...

This article contains Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga spoilers.
It all begins with a a peach. That is the first thing audiences are asked to bear witness to at the start of George Miller’s long-awaited Furiosa. And it’s this simple luxury for which young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) will soon be cast out of paradise. Never one to make a play toward subtlety, even when he strives for plenty of nuance, Miller knows exactly what kind of loaded comparisons he’s demanding audiences to make. A girl; a red, ripe piece of fruit; and a forbidden act that invites lifelong punishment. Despite being only a child, Furiosa’s action will cause her to be stolen from her mother (Charlee Fraser), her sister, and the beloved Green Place. She will then spend the next 20 years desperate to get back to that land, but as viewers hopefully remember from Mad Max: Fury Road,...

From the very beginning, the story of Furiosa is one filled with grief, pain, and loss. As we find the jaded road warrior getting constantly tested by the brutal wasteland in the worst ways possible from a young age, moments of respite seem increasingly sparse and limited. Getting entangled in the cycle of violence and longing for her homeland ever since her mother’s death, there has been really only one phase in Furiosa’s life when she could have dared to hope for a better future for herself, and that was when Praetorian Jack came into her life.
A standout character in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Praetorian Jack shares certain similarities with Max Rockatansky as an everyman protagonist while being distinctive enough to form a separate identity of his own. Jack’s relationship to Furiosa contributes to certain growth in her character by providing her with some closure,...

Australian filmmaker George Miller has been described as both a genius and a visionary. He seems to know how to make a great project and his fame began in 1979, when he introduced the world to the first movie from the Mad Max franchise, a cult classic series that initially starred Mel Gibson in the titular role before he was replaced by Tom Hardy in Fury Road. As we all know, the franchise continued with a fifth movie, a prequel titled Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which explores the origins of Imperator Furiosa, a character introduced in Fury Road. The movie received a long-standing ovation at Cannes this year, and it was finally released in cinemas on May 23, 2024.
Is the movie any good? Should yo go watch it? The early Cannes reviews were all for it, but we can now confirm that the movie is an absolute hit with both critics and fans,...

Furiosa’s world is not a romantic place. George Miller’s post-apocalyptic Wasteland is barely habitable and fit for the toughest of survivors only. The young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) must learn this fast in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga when she is snatched from her idyllic home. Her mother tries desperately to rescue her and very nearly manages but instead is caught, tortured, and killed by Dementusm (Chris Hemsworth) and his men in front of her daughter. Dementus wants to know where Furiosa’s home is. But Furiosa knows she can’t tell him, even if it means watching the person she loves most in the world burned, maimed, and murdered. That is what love gets you: vulnerability and pain. And so the young Furiosa becomes the property of Dementus, and is later bartered to Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme) who...

Fan-favorite “Mad Max: Fury Road” character Furiosa gets her story expanded with the prequel film “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” Anya Taylor-Joy takes the reins from Charlize Theron as the title character but there are many new and familiar faces popping up throughout the movie. Let’s meet them all.
Here’s the official logline: “As the world falls, young Furiosa (Taylor-Joy) is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. She will spend the rest of her life battling to get back home.”
Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa “Furiosa” (Warner Bros.)
Anya Taylor-Joy takes over the role of Furiosa from Charlize Theron in this prequel. In “Furiosa,” the titular character struggles to escape after being kidnapped by a warlord and falling in with Dementus’s biker hoard.
Taylor-Joy’s career has exploded in the last few years.

Plot: Stolen from her people as a child and forced to witness her mother’s execution, young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) sets out on an epic quest for vengeance against the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth).
Review: George Miller’s Mad Max series contains not one but two of the most incredible action movies ever made. Sure, there’s Fury Road, but there’s also The Road Warrior. Both are masterpieces of their genre, so the bar has been set pretty high for Miller’s return to the Wasteland. The early reviews seem overly concerned that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga isn’t a replay of Mad Mad: Fury Road, with it telling an epic, fifteen-year tale, the likes of which has never been attempted in the series before. From the 1979 original onward, all the movies told relatively compact stories, so Miller and co-writer Nico Lathouris deserve praise for doing something different.

This weekend brings the action-packed odyssey of "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" to theaters for all to witness and enjoy. While the movie acts as a prequel to incredible "Mad Max: Fury Road," it does differ from George Miller's fast-paced franchise revival from 2015 by spanning years, even decades, as we learn the origins of Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) and see how her quest for vengeance against the maniacal Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) becomes tied up in the legacy of Mad Max and the Wasteland's wars.
But where "Furiosa" matches "Fury Road" is in the unbelievable, adrenaline-fueled vehicular mayhem and brutal combat between both humans and customized cars, trucks, and pretty anything with wheels. However, the prequel does enhance one particular element of the "Mad Max" franchise, and it's a detail that almost made it into "Fury Road."

Chicago – It’s no “Fury Road,” but “Furiosa” is a suitably high octane summer blockbuster that delivers the eye popping action that Mad Max fans come for. The film is a prequel to that Oscar winning film, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over for Charlize Theron as the one armed, shaved headed all around world-class bad ass.

The film starts with a pint-sized Furiosa picking a piece of fruit in a lush landscape known as The Green Place. She’s abducted by a biker gang and taken back to Dementus’ fiefdom. Furiosa is held captive by Dementus and then essentially traded to rival warlord Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme) after Dementus lays siege to Gastown, one of the three fortresses of the wasteland, along with Immortan Joe’s Citadel,...

Never knowingly upstaged, George Miller’s latest Mad Max film features the franchise’s biggest stunt yet. Here’s how the Furiosa team pulled off the War Rig chase.
“If we were gonna make an action film”, production designer Colin Gibson said of Fury Road, “This was gonna be the last great action film”.
Six Oscars, $400m and almost a decade later, Gibson found himself and the Mad Max team back in the desert. Their mission? Make the last great action film. Again.
True to the series’ unsubtle ideology, almost everything about Furiosa is bigger. It’s 28 minutes longer, for a start, more a decade-spanning odyssey than Fury Road’s comparatively low-key 3-day car chase.
Its biggest stunt sequence, too, dwarfs anything in the last film. Shot over roughly 78 days (accounts vary on the exact number) with 200 stunt performers trying very hard not to get run-over or blown up, Furiosa...

Set before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, a young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) is stolen from her homeland of The Green Place by a group of post-apocalyptic bikers who follow a maverick leader called Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). Handing her over to the citadel years later, Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) works her way up the ranks to get revenge on the man who took her mother’s life.
If you were a frequent moviegoer in 2015, chances are you had a front-row year for the objective masterpiece of that year — Mad Max: Fury Road. In fact, the film has been so well received that demand for more in the nine years since has been at a consistent high, finally manifesting itself in the form of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga roared through Cannes before it launches in theaters Friday after nearly 10 years in development. The prequel film builds on the Australian wasteland universe established in George Miller’s four other movies of the franchise: Mad Max (1979), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).
In Fury Road, which became the first in the franchise to receive Academy Award nominations (winning six out of ten awards), Charlize Theron portrayed Imperator Furiosa. Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the titular role in this next installment, which shows her backstory of getting kidnapped by Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and his Biker Hord. At 10 years old, she is forced to grow up fast, and while she fights for survival, her only wish is to return home and reunite with her family.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a triumphant return to the harsh, exhilarating world of the Mad Max franchise. Directed by George Miller, this prequel to Fury Road dives acts as an origin story of the Imperator Furiosa (played impeccably by Anya Taylor-Joy throughout) delivering a truly stunning array of action set pieces and an emotionally charged storyline.
The film traces the origins of Furiosa, exploring her transformation from a young captive to a relentless warrior. Taylor-Joy brings a fierce and wonderfully nuanced performance that captures both the vulnerability and strength of this fearless protagonist. Her journey is one of survival, empowerment, but mostly vengeance at any cost. It is the desperate cry of a child snatched from everything she knows and taken to a place where all hope has died.

Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed she pushed George Miller to film a brutal moment in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga that symbolized “female rage,” but the scene did not make the final cut.
The actress told GQ that she created a scene in which Imperator Furiosa cuts out the tongue of Dementus (Chris Hemsworth), with the magazine describing it as Taylor-Joy’s effort to “out-crazy” Miller.
The gory moment did not make Miller’s final edit, but Taylor-Joy said she had kept a prosthetic memento of Dementus’ tongue, which sits in a little plastic box in her home.
“It was really important to me that the confrontation between Furiosa and Dementus be a physical one, and that it was hard-won,” she said. “It needed it; she needed it. I think there is something in seeing this person turn to something more carnal within herself.”

Although the English actor’s career began on television, Tom Burke has worked extensively in movies and TV shows. Over the years, the actor has had increasing credits on the big and small screens. His passion for acting was developed at an early age, having been born into a family where both parents (David Burke and Anna Calder-Marshall) are actors. Burke also has influences from his godparents, Alan Rickman and Bridget Turner. As proof of his growth through the years, Tom Burke is cast in an iconic role in George Miller’s $168 million budget spin-off/prequel movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Yes, there were more flame-throwers, but working on Furiosa was pretty similar to starring in Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir, says the actor. So how does he duck the crossfire that comes with playing Jk Rowling’s Strike?
When Tom Burke was cast in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to the crash-bang spectacular Mad Max: Fury Road, he sat his 77-year-old mother down in front of the television and showed her the previous film in that post-apocalyptic series, just to give her some idea of what he was letting himself in for. Afterwards, she looked concerned. “Will you be mainly inside or outside?” she asked.
Any parent would worry. As Praetorian Jack, he helps the young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) take revenge against the pharaoh-like warlord (Chris Hemsworth) who killed her mother. Jack’s job is to sit at the wheel of the War Rig, one of those whopping...

The concerns that met the trailer––suggesting Miller had traded in his predecessor’s practical effects for CGI––are, I’m sorry to say,...
