The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" gang has been at fault for quite a few deaths over the years -- from a guy shooting himself in a Russian Roulette game arranged by Frank, to Mac and Dee letting a kid drown at a water park. If you count animals, Charlie's got the highest body count in the gang, as he's murdered not just the many men rats in Paddy's Pub, but the women and children rats too. Then again, the implied horrors that went on in Frank's old sweatshop might put Charlie's rat genocide to shame.
But for Glenn Howerton, who plays the psychopathic Dennis Reynolds, one of the deaths that haunts him was only kind of the gang's fault. In a 2017 interview he talked about how he regretted killing off Roxy (Alanna Ubach), a successful yet unstable sex worker whom Frank tries to marry in season 7. She unexpectedly...

The Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, is set to return for second season this summer, and in anticipation, the show has shared (Dennis Reynolds voice) two trailers offering different looks at the brewing conflict in Westeros.
The new season finds House Targaryen in disarray and on the precipice of a civil war: With Queen Rhaenyra and the Black Council on one side, and her half-brother, King Aegon, and the Green Council on the other. As such, the new trailers — aptly titled “Green” and “Black” — tease the two sides of this story,...

Look, it’s simply true: even the silliest little goose you know could be hiding murderous tendencies. And if television is meant to reflect aspects of our real lives, why wouldn’t psychos slip under the radar in some of our favorite comedies?
On this week’s episode of Guide to the Unknown, Kristen and Will explore the crimes and theories of The Scranton Strangler of The Office and Dennis Reynolds of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, two welcome sources of darkness griming up otherwise goofy shows.
The Office might be best remembered for Michael Scott and Dwight’s most quotable moments, but another character has a certain corner of the internet by the throat: The Scranton Strangler. It’s a world-building reference that was introduced as a joke when Andy wants to gift Pam and Jim a framed copy of the front page of the newspaper on the day...

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is a beloved show with millions of adoring fans, but you don't get to be one of the most boundary-pushing comedies on air without ruffling a few feathers. Although the gang is larger than life, many of the characters draw inspiration from real people, particularly in their names. A few of the main and recurring characters in the show are named after real-life people like celebrities, close friends of the series creators, or the actors that portray them. Unfortunately, not everyone was flattered by their namesake.
The proprietors of Paddy's Pub are pretty darn despicable, but some of the show's minor characters are even less likable. The McPoyles are among some of the most repulsive characters in the show, and their sweaty, unibrowed, incestuous family often finds itself at odds with the gang. The family name, which evokes unpleasant words like "boil" and "spoil," was...

The cast of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has a bone to pick with the Emmys: They want an award.
Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito took the stage Monday night to present the award for Outstanding Talk Series.
“What an honor it is to be here at the 75th Emmy Awards,” Olson began.
“Wait, what?” Howerton interjected. “Seventy-five years? The show’s been on for 75 years? We’ve been on the air since 2005. I’ve never been here.”
“Have you guys been doing this every single year without us?” Day then asked.
“They do. They get dressed up. They give each other awards,” McElhenney said. “And 16 seasons we’ve never even presented before.”
Day then asked DeVito if the Emmys have ever given him an award, to which the man behind Frank Reynolds casually said, “Yeah.”

Glenn Howerton has never won an Emmy. He’s never been nominated for an Emmy. To anyone who invested in the awards race — or anyone who’s seen more than a few episodes of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” — these facts are both obvious and outrageous. Rob McElhenney’s landmark FX sitcom has been infamously snubbed by the Television Academy throughout its record-breaking run. In 16 seasons, the series has been recognized three times, and each time, it was in the same category: Stunt Coordination.
No disrespect to Marc Scizak’s worthy accomplishments (and credit to the Emmys for honoring stunt work in the first place), but “It’s Always Sunny” deserves so much more. Where’s the Best Comedy Series nod for TV’s longest-running live-action sitcom? Where are the writing nominations for scripts like these? And where’s Glenn Howerton’s G.D. trophy?!
Well, this might be his year.

With director and co-writer Matt Johnson’s feature film Blackberry getting an extended, limited series treatment on AMC this week, the entertainment world is abuzz with Oscar (and now Emmy) talk about the film’s scene-stealing co-star, Glenn Howerton. As real-life financial bulldog and eventual Blackberry CEO Jim Balsillie, Howerton shaved the religiously maintained mane of hair he’s sported as narcissistic Dennis Reynolds for 16 seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, that actorly sacrifice just one indicator of how the perennially ambitious, often typecast actor viewed Balsillie as the role destined to bring Howerton a measure of the success he’s always sought.

We expect the gang from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" to do outrageous things, but the last thing we expect is for them to do something incredibly heartfelt and sincere. And yet, in the incredible season 13 finale, that's exactly what happens. Struggling to find a way to come out to his father, Mac performs an elaborate dance routine that symbolizes his inner turmoil. A lesser comedian might have gone with the obvious punchline, making the dance go horribly wrong and look poorly executed. Instead, this eternally boundary-pushing show managed to subvert audience expectations yet again and deliver a breathtaking number. So how did Rob McElhenney, an actor and series co-creator with zero dance experience, manage to pull off such an impressive feat?
Now, this dance number wasn't the first time McElhenney went to physical extremes on "Sunny," transforming his body in a major way for the sake of a bit.

It wouldn’t be odd to call Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) the Patrick Bateman of sitcom television. As the savviest member of the gang in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he’s witty, intelligent, and has the character traits of a would-be serial killer. Dennis is also incredibly vain — with an abundance of confidence regarding his charm and abilities — yet can rapidly turn insecure in certain situations beside particularly intimidating or famous people.
In addition to his comedic genius, Howerton is exceptionally gifted at delivering public meltdowns and giving us unforgettable moments that have become classics in the show’s history by now. Here, we gathered 10 of them that stand out for several reasons.

Everyone in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a terrible person, but the worst of them all is undoubtedly Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton). Over the course of 16 seasons, the sitcom has relentlessly illustrated how much of a narcissistic sociopath he is, whether it’s through frame banging or “allegedly” murdering his ex-wife. Yet perhaps the most memorable instance of Dennis acting absolutely depraved appeared in the Season 5 episode “The D.E.N.N.I.S System.”...

Hey jabronis — listen up! "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is returning for season 16 this summer, and series creator and star Rob McElhenney has teased a very special crossover via social media. The gang from "Always Sunny" broke bad long ago, so it only makes sense that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul of "Breaking Bad" stopped by the "It's Always Sunny" set. McElhenney posted a photo of the gang hanging out at Paddy's Pub with Cranston and Paul, who played the meth kingpins of Albuquerque on the hit AMC series and in the well-executed but unnecessary Netflix follow-up film, "El Camino." There are no details about the episode yet, and it's entirely possible that the guys only appear for one scene and McElhenney is just messing with us, but there are plenty of possibilities for this incredible crossover.

Adam Brody is teaming up with Kristen Bell.
Netflix announced that The Oc alum will star in the untitled series from Erin Foster.

Brody will play Noah, a charming rabbi who is stuck in his ways and used to playing things safe.
He starts to stumble when he meets a brutally honest and provocative Joanne, totally upending his safe life plan.
Aside from the above, details are scarce about the project, so we'll need to wait until more information is revealed.

When "Guardians of the Galaxy" came out in 2014, people only really knew Chris Pratt as the lazy-but-lovable Andy Dwyer from the NBC series "Parks and Recreation," but soon everyone would come to associate him with Peter Quill, Aka Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Originally, Pratt almost didn't make the cut, as writer and director James Gunn wasn't sure that the guy known for being an affable goofball could pull off Star-Lord's sarcastic edge. In fact, he had a very different actor in mind: "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star Glenn Howerton.
Howerton is best known for playing "Sunny" character Dennis Reynolds — a not-so-secret sociopath who considered being compared to a serial killer a compliment — so he's about as far from Pratt's vibe as possible. For many die-hard It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans, it was disappointing to discover that Hulu (Netflix in the UK) has removed many of the episodes from their platform. Glenn Howerton is forever known as the psychopath, Dennis Reynolds, on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. However, the actor is set to break out of the shadow of the five-star man. It was previously announced Howerton would be joining Jay Baruchel in BlackBerry, which is the story of the Canadian corporation that created the revolutionary precursor to smartphones. Matt Johnson of Operation Avalanche will be stepping in the director’s chair for this project. Entertainment Weekly has given us the first look at Howerton in all of his bald glory as the CEO, Jim Balsillie.
Howerton describes his character as “a very savvy businessman who jumped into this venture when it was really just a bunch of tech guys who had no idea what they had on their hands. Jim had the relationships; he had the contacts, he had the personality and the drive to really push it forward.

No sitcom embodies the spirit of Philadelphia sports fans more than It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The raucous, ill-mannered gang bleeds for Philadelphia sports — particularly the Phillies in the MLB, and the Eagles in the NFL. They’ve concocted riot punch, climbed through sewer tunnels, and racked up parking fines when the Phillies won the World Series, and rode in questionable transportation to watch the Eagles play in the 2018 Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.
All that makes sense when the cast is playing their characters from the show given how Philly-centric the series is. But a few of the stars are Philadelphia fans in real life, too. While It’s Always Sunny capitalized on the sports teams’ successes in the past, their real-life counterparts were pretty thrilled about it, too. Here’s who will be celebrating the Eagles’ return to Super Bowl 57.

As the longest running live-action comedy series in American television history, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has been pushing the boundaries of taste, depravity, and hilarity for 15 seasons. If you're somehow still unfamiliar with its debauched genius, it follows a group of friends -- Charlie (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), twins Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton), and the Reynolds' father, Frank (Danny DeVito) -- who own a Philly pub. However, while Paddy's hosts many of the gang's antics, you're far more likely to find them embroiled in some deranged scheme than pulling pints behind the bar.
With so many episodes of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" to choose from, every fan probably has their own list of favorite moments. However, while each of its stars steal scenes, it's Howerton's pitch-perfect portrayal of preening megalomaniac Dennis that may be the show's finest creation. With such a wealth of brilliantly unnerving content to sift through,...

It’s always sunny in Ireland?
The first official trailer for Season 15 of FX Network’s It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia offers some clues as to the latest misadventures of the Paddy’s Pub gang, and the series certainly doesn’t seem to be playing it safe a decade and a half into its record-breaking run.
As previously announced, the comedy will address the “strange new world” of the Covid era, and the trailer illustrates just that. We see someone – looks like Glenn Howerton’s Dennis Reynolds – doing a good impression of the QAnon Shaman, while Frank (Danny DeVito) admits to a previous and unsavory acquaintance. Mac (Rob McElhenney) considers the priesthood, Dee (Kaitlin Olson) can’t quite grasp the lessons of MeToo and Charlie still loves cheese and ghouls.

The dysfunctional quartet of friends will continue to be just as irreverent as ever, for at least four more seasons. In May, Fxx renewed It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for a 15th season. Today, it was announced that the comedy show had been renewed for seasons 16, 17, and 18 as well. This will conceivably keep it on the air into 2024

They say that reality is stranger than fiction. While there’s definitely some truth to that old adage, reality is thankfully not often stranger than FX’s long-running classic comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Through 14, soon-to-be 15, seasons, the codependent Paddy’s Pub gang have engaged in some truly outrageous behavior. From staging an entire musical around an incident of possible child abuse to thoroughly ruining the life of poor Rickety Cricket, Dennis, Mac, Charlie, Dee, and Frank usually stand alone when it comes to Philadelphia madness.
But that, of course, was all before the miracle of Four Seasons Total Landscaping. Just in case you missed it (which you almost certainly did not), back in early November, as President Trump’s legal team mounted a doomed campaign to overturn the results of the election, his personal attorney (and breakout star of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) Rudy Giuliani decided to hold a press conference.

“Dee Day” is a pretty strange episode of television, even by “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s” warped standards. There’s a racist play featuring brown face, an involuntary make-out scene between two platonic friends, an ongoing vomit bit, a mystery lurking in the background about a secret plan, and it’s all wrapped in a simple sitcom premise: It’s Dee Day, which means everyone as to do what Dee (Kaitlin Olson) says, no matter how uncomfortable, unwanted, or weird.
Written by Megan Ganz (who last penned one of “Sunny’s” best recent episodes), “Dee Day” utilizes many of the series’ comedy go-to’s: satire, physical humor, shocking behavior, random running gags, and an utter lack of shame from anyone involved. But it’s also really, really weird, and that in itself has been a key element to the FX sitcom’s longevity. Without episodes like “Dee Day,...

Glenn Howerton has some deep thoughts on A.P. Bio Season 2, disgraced Harvard professor Jack Griffin, and yes, It's Always Sunny.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia producer and star Glenn Howerton has become known for playing a certain type of TV comedy archetype - though that's bound to happen when an actor spends 13 years playing the same character. Over those 13 (soon-to-be 14) years, Howerton's Dennis Reynolds has gone from garden variety asshole to a level of serial killer-esque sociopathic, the likes of which television comedy has never seen.
One would think that in choosing his next TV project, and first one available to wider audiences on a traditional network, Howerton may have wanted to switch things up. But disgraced Harvard professor Jack Griffin on NBC's A.P. Bio is another little comedy sociopath in waiting. According to Howerton, however, there is a very distinct method in portraying his various characters' madness.

Fans of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia saw a lot less of Glenn Howerton's character, Dennis Reynolds, in the 13th season of the FX comedy series, but the show's star and co-creator told The Hollywood Reporter In Studio that that could change in the upcoming season.
"We're in talks about season 14 right now. The writers room on that is going to start in a couple months," Howerton said.
Does that mean we'll be seeing more of Dennis in the near future? "That's the plan," he teased.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is coming back for a record-breaking Season 14 on Fxx.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is going to live well into its teens.
In 2016, Fxx renewed its underdog sitcom for two more seasons including It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 14. Season 14 is almost an incomprehensibly long time for a show that began with three friends, a video camera, and some pocket change. But hey - quality is quality. Season 14 will take It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia into the TV record books. It will tie The Adventures of Ozzie and Hariet for most seasons of a live-action sitcom. Granted, Ozzie and Hariet had many more episodes but that's still quite an achievement.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Season 13 premiere, Episode 1, “The Gang Makes Paddy’s Great Again.”]
One would think growing up is a good thing, at least when it comes to work, romance, and self-esteem, but that’s clearly not the case if you’re part of the gang at Paddy’s Pub — or those watching them. The Season 13 premiere, “The Gang Makes Paddy’s Great Again,” goes out of its way to prove why the long-inept but endlessly happy five-some can only stay that way if Dennis Reynolds remains their leader. Without him, they might actually become better people.
Good thing he’s back.
In what amounts to the series’ 135th episode, writer David Hornsby and producers Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton pointedly took their time finding a rhythm. The Season 13 premiere amounts to a lesson in comedy dynamics, and begins by introducing Dennis’ would-be replacement: Cindy, played by Mindy Kaling, is the new bar manager, and she’s really hit the ground running.

Fxx has released a spooky new trailer for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 13. The promo is called "Paranormal Paddy's" and it's obviously a parody of the hit horror film Paranormal Activity. Things Get Ridiculously Wild For The Gang in Trailer For It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 13
Fxx has released the full trailer for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 13, and as you'll see... things for the gang get absolutely bonkers! Dennis Reynolds is hanging around after all.
During an appearance at the TCA summer press tour on Friday, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” cast members Charlie Day, Danny DeVito, Rob McElhenney, and Kaitlin Olson revealed that Glenn Howerton will in fact appear in most of the episodes of the show’s upcoming thirteenth season.
“We went through all sorts of ideas before we knew that Glenn was coming back,” McElhenney said. “He’s in pretty much every episode.”
“He’s in the majority of them,” Day chimed in. Day also revealed that the team behind the show got creative with ways to shoot around Howerton’s absence, such as doing an all-female reboot of a past episode of the series.
Fxx had previously announced that Howerton wouldn’t be as big a part of Season 13 of the series.

Everyone at Paddy’s raise a glass, because Dennis Reynolds is coming back!
Well, Glenn Howerton is going to return, along with the rest of the cast of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” when the series launches its 13th season this September on Fxx. So Dennis is coming back — but he’s not coming back. Allow us to explain.
At the end of Season 12, the most selfish member of the self-centered crew decided he was leaving the gang and moving out of the City of Brotherly Love to be closer to his estranged son in North Dakota. And, thanks to a crazy-long hiatus (Season 12 ended in March 2017) and extreme evasiveness from Howerton and company, fans have been wondering if and when (and how) Dennis was going to be included when the show returned for its upcoming 13th year.

When It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns for its 13th season on Wednesday, September 5, Glenn Howerton’s creepy Dennie Reynolds won’t be at his usual Paddy’s Pub stool or even in his video-equipped bedroom.
Here’s how Fxx made the announcement of the show’s return: “The Gang Returns… mostly…. in the 13th season of the Fxx original comedy series It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Mac (Rob McElhenney), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Frank (Danny DeVito) return to their duplicitous, scheming ways at Paddy’s Pub, while Dennis (Glenn Howerton) takes on the new role of father in North Dakota.”
When last seen, Howerton’s Dennis had told the gang that he was leaving to take part in the life of his newly discovered infant son. In real life, Howerton is now starring in NBC’s A.P. Bio, which has been renewed for a second season.

FX has unveiled the debut date for Kurt Sutter’s “Mayans M.C.” The cable channel has also set the returns for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “American Horror Story.”
Comedy “Mr Inbetween” does not yet have a specific date, but it will start in September, FX said. So will all these other ones.
In “Mr Inbetween,” Scott Ryan plays “Ray Shoesmith,” a father, ex-husband, boyfriend and best friend: tough roles to juggle in the modern age. It’s even harder when you’re a criminal for hire, per FX’s teaser description.
The six-episode season, written by Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton, also stars Damon Herriman, Justin Rosniak, Brooke Satchwell, Jackson Tozer, Nicholas Cassim, Chika Yasumura and Matt Nable. “Mr Inbetween” was shot in Australia and is produced by Blue-Tongue Films and Jungle Entertainment, in association with FX Productions, Screen Australia and Create Nsw.
