“Prison Break” is getting another sentence, as a new series set in the world of the beloved Fox drama is being developed by Hulu, Variety has confirmed.
“Mayans M.C.” co-creator and showrunner Elgin James is writing the show, which is in early stages of development, via his Sierra Drive banner. The new installment, via 20th Television, is not expected to feature the characters at the center of the original jailhouse drama, Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell).
James executive produces alongside Dawn Olmstead, “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. In addition to the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff “Mayans,” James also co-created with Stephen Merchant the Amazon Studios/BBC One series “The Outlaws,” starring Christopher Walken.

I confess to having difficulty understanding Corinth’s curious repackaging of three monochrome 1950’s science-fiction films. Pulling together this triad of films – all previously issued as single disc releases from the label’s Wade Williams Collection - seems to make sense on one level. We’ll discuss later on. But for the record this DVD of Drive-In Retro Classics: Science Fiction Triple Feature brings together such disparate Silver Age favorites as Kurt Neumann’s Rocketship X-m (1950), Nathan H. Juran’s The Brain from Planet Arous (1958) and Robert Clarke’s The Hideous Sun Demon (1959).
Though he didn’t have anything to do with the production of any of the films listed above, Wade Williams has served as curator of the analog and digital legacy of many ‘50s sci-fi and horror titles. Though Williams would aspire as a filmmaker himself, the titles...

"What if he escape from a zoo, or something?" Lionsgate has released a trailer for Lena and Snowball, a charming lion cub drama based on a true story. This seems to be a cheesy American remake of the French film Mia and the White Lion, about a young woman who befriends a lion cub living in Africa. This one has a similar story. Lena tries to keep playful Snowball out of trouble, but the clumsy poachers who kidnapped the valuable cub, and the cruel trophy collector who paid for him, are desperate to get him back. That sounds like an entirely uninspired story. Melissa Collazo stars in this as Lena; she's joined by Robert Knepper, Wade Williams, Branscombe Richmond, Ansuman Bhagat, and Elliott Sancrant. This looks way too much like it's trying to capitalize on the "Tiger King" buzz, and retell a story in a more cheesy way than actually...

The Film Detective announces the restoration and re-release of the first and one of the most sensational accounts of the vicious “Helter Skelter” murders, The Other Side of Madness (1971).
Available on limited-edition Blu-ray or DVD Nov. 10—marking the 50th anniversary of its original release—The Other Side of Madness was the first cinematic depiction of the Manson murders, filmed so astonishingly close to the time of the events that the Manson trial was still in progress. Portrayed as a modern “noir,” it proved so shocking to audiences at the time that the film was banned in Los Angeles.
Selections from the original motion picture soundtrack, written and performed by Charles Manson, will be offered on a limited-release Bonus CD (2,000 copies made) included with the purchase of the collector’s deluxe anniversary edition Blu-ray or DVD. When the B horror movie Chain-face Clown was released in 1985, no one knew the film would one day become a classic. Well, at least by a select group of horror movie fans. Rob Zombie has officially blown the lid off 3 From Hell, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Kicking off the week in style, Zombie sent horror fans into a tizzy just yesterday with the delightfully gruesome teaser trailer, which offered a sneak peek into the twisted world of his follow-up to The Devil’s Rejects. And though many are already sold on the idea of 3 From Hell, the musician-cum-filmmaker has since announced that a new, extended preview will be released next month – just in time for the film’s theatrical release in September.
That’s right; we can expect 3 From Hell to hit the big screen in three months’ time, by which point we should have a better understanding of Zombie’s master plan for Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie).
Here’s a little status report, courtesy of the director’s Facebook...

Following on from Rob Zombie’s social media countdown, the first 3 From Hell trailer finally arrived yesterday and though it certainly provided our best look yet at the upcoming sequel to 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects, it still didn’t reveal a whole lot.
Running for just under a minute, it provided a tantalizing tease of the chaos to come but crucially, left out any real plot details. As such, fans have a lot of questions and now, Zombie’s taken to Facebook to answer some of them. Among other things, he’s addressed when, exactly, 3 From Hell takes place, with many wondering how much time has passed since the last film.
As it turns out, not long has passed at all, with the director explaining that his latest effort takes place immediately after The Devil’s Rejects. Of course, Zombie followed that up by addressing the next most pressing question: how did Baby,...

Following on from Rob Zombie’s social media countdown, the first 3 From Hell trailer is finally here, offering our best look yet at the upcoming sequel to 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects.
It’s been a long journey for Zombie’s latest feature, with principal photography wrapping back in April of last year. In the months since, the director has stayed active on social media with updates and set pics, though has largely kept plot details to himself. It must be said, cult horror director Rob Zombie has been doing a pretty effective job at keeping us in the loop and invested in the production of the upcoming 3 from Hell, all while keeping plot details tantalizingly vague.
The steady stream of information continues today with another Instagram post featuring a trio of smartly dressed men on the set of the long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses and 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects. Seen in the gallery below, it came accompanied with the following caption: Another Three From Hell exclusive! The suits are always dealing with The Rejects insanity. Featuring in this shot Kevin Jackson, Wade Williams and @jeffdanielphillips.
Since it’s already been heavily implied that a legal trial will be a key point of focus in the movie, it’s safe to assume that these men will be dealing with the criminal case of 3 from Hell‘s titular psychos.

So despite their breaking all sorts of box office records, are you feeling the slightest twinge of Superhero fatigue? Well, what’s the perfect cure for that ailment? Why another superhero flick, of course. And a Marvel one at that. But there’s a big difference, a twist that sets this flick apart. You see, it’s not a Marvel Studios production, like Black Panther and his Avengers pals. This movie’s part of the licensing deal between Marvel and Fox that began with 2000’s X-men, which “spun-off” three solo Wolverine features, along with the 2016 surprise smash that showcased this hero. That entry also broke new ground, by taking its comics-based subject out of “family friendly” PG-13 territory, and going full “R” for raunch and racy, which may have inspired last year’s reported final Wolverine flick, Logan, to do the same. With this character the “R” could stand for “rib-tickling”, raucous,...

Do rediscovered ‘lost’ movies always disappoint? This Depression-era pre-Code science fiction disaster thriller was unique in its day, and its outrageously ambitious special effects –New York City is tossed into a blender — were considered the state of the art. Sidney Blackmer and a fetching Peggy Shannon fight off rapacious gangs in what may be the first post-apocalyptic survival thriller.

Regardless of whether or not you liked the film, Deadpool and 20th Century Fox delivered the best marketing campaign in years, from initial teasers right up to the Cialis spoof for the Blu-ray release, which came out this week.
Let me say up front that I was never a fan of the Merc with a Mouth from his introduction in 1991 through his overexposure in the comics the last few years. He’s the answer to DC’s Ambush Bug and breaks the fourth wall so often that you just can’t take or his adventures seriously. Seeing him operating an Avenger today is staggering since it forces him to be a grounder player which operates against where he works best.
The film recognizes this and treats him as a live action Wile E. Coyote so there’s a manic feel from the first frame to the last. Everything is there short of the Acme anvil.

The commissioning of television projects is always a gamble. A pitch that sounded like a guaranteed win can all too easily become the first casualty of pilot season, if the magic formula of talent – both onscreen and off – is not achieved. In these uncertain economic times, when regular broadcast channels are competing more and more with original content produced by streaming platforms, such as Netflix and Amazon, an aversion to such risk could well explain the current trend of revisiting past glories. As The X Files gears up for a limited season, and a 24 spin-off is rumoured, TVLine has exclusively revealed that the popular Fox series Prison Break is also officially in development for a limited series.
Prison Break began airing in January 2006, and quickly found a fan-base with its increasingly claustrophobic tale of conspiracy, political intrigue and family drama. Starring Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell as his brother,...

Stars: Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, John Cusack, Armando Riesco, Shannon Woodward, Chris Riggi, Scott Coffey, Darin Scott, Reed Birney, Catherine Lloyd Burns | Written by Andy Cochran | Directed by Scott Coffey
Helmed by actor-turned-director Scott Coffey, who many may recognise from 80s films such as Some Kind of Wonderful and Space Camp, Adult World is another in a long-line of American indie dramas – you know the type: the ones that mix witty dialogue and a hip soundtracks in the hopes of creating something loftier than the rest. This particular example follows Amy (Roberts), a naive college graduate who believes she’s destined to be a great poet, who begrudgingly accepts a job at a sex shop while she pursues a mentorship with her idol, reclusive writer Rat Billings (Cusack).

In Draft Day, on the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to rebuild his team when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL. Recently, Wamg sat down with Kevin Costner in a press conference where he spoke to members of the media about his new role in Draft Day, Field Of Dreams, and how affected he was by Rock Hudson in Giant. Check it out below!
There’s a line in the movie where you say, “What do you want?!” Is this a direct reference to Field Of Dreams where you at one point said, “What do you want?...

The 2014 NFL Draft. The culmination, for most players, of a lifetime of playing football – hundreds of NFL hopefuls waiting to hear their names announced during one of the seven rounds of the draft.
The 2014 NFL Draft returns to primetime, with the first round taking place Thursday, May 8, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday, May 9. Rounds 4-7 will be held Saturday, May 10.
On Tuesday night, St. Louis Rams players, Robert Quinn, Rodger Saffold, Chase Reynolds, Johnny Hekker, Greg Zuerlein, and Mason Brodine, came out for the special advance screening of the new NFL Draft based film, Draft Day.
When asked what their favorite Sports films were, Quinn paused and said, “It’s a toss up… Remember The Titans and The Replacements,“ while Saffold said, “easy, Hoosiers.” Speaking of basketball, both picked the University of Connecticut Women’s basketball team to win, “with no problem.”

With 2013 being the 75th anniversary of Superman and Man of Steel scheduled to come out this summer it was a forgone conclusion DC would release their emblematic direct to home media animated feature this year. DC certainly has been more successful than their marvelous competition at translating their classic stories to this format. Superman: Unbound however, ends up being a mediocre entry for this franchise. With a limited scope and a stereotypical plot it adds nothing to the Superman mythos. It feels less like an extended feature and more like a pilot episode of an upcoming television series. The animation and voice acting are both handled with care, but neither is given that much to work with. The...

This is the animated movie adaptation of Frank Miller’s legendary comic book, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. The book was originally four issues which can be broken down roughly as Batman fights 1) Two-Face, 2) Mutant Leader, 3) Joker, and 4) Superman – in Part 1 we get 1) and 2) though it isn’t just fighting as we see Bruce’s journey back to being the Dark Knight after a 10 year break. It is an incredibly faithful version of Miller’s story, often praised as the greatest Batman story ever told, and it’s because of this faithfulness to the original book that it’s impossible to talk about this film without comparing the two. It’s strict adherence to the book might be the reason why the film was released in 2 parts so as not to leave anything out without making it an over-long watch (though, yes, I do know it...

Keep your Batman fix going.
Batman fans were both (mostly) elated and dejected with The Dark Knight Rises, which added a new chapter to director Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, but also ended the franchise as a trilogy. Stepping in to fill the void is Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1, which was released on DVD and Blu-Ray last month.
Based on the seminal comic book arc by Frank Miller (Sin City, 300), The Dark Knight Returns is set in dystopian future Gotham, where Batman (voiced by Robocop's Peter Weller) has retired after the death of his second Robin, Jason Todd. With crime ruling the streets, Batman returns to face Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face (voiced by Wade Andrew Williams, who plays the warden of Blackgate prison in The Dark Knight Rises), armed with a new Robin, thirteen-year-old Carrie Kelley (voiced by Modern Family's Ariel Winter). Chicago – Is it possible that not all comic books are ones that can be adapted? Couldn’t some of them only really work on the page where the reader can fill in the grit and grime of a dark story like Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” in ways that a literal reading in animated form just can’t do? You see what i’m getting at. I love the source material for “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns — Part 1” and there are enough interesting ideas that survived intact the journey from page to screen but the adaptation of Miller’s work doesn’t hold a candle to just reading the original.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
It’s interesting to see how clearly one can draw a straight line from Miller’s wildly influential vision of a Gotham desperately in need of a hero to Christopher Nolan’s take on the subject in “Batman Begins,...

Years in the making, Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns was never intended to rewrite the rules for the Caped Crusader or become the template for a generation of storytelling. It was, though, the culmination of a series of events that occurred at DC Comics and in Miller’s professional development that nicely dovetailed together. The right book, character, and creator all arrived at the right time, when an audience was ready to accept the radical re-imagining.
Ever since the four-part story heralded the arrival of the Prestige Format and was the first entry in the current field of graphic novels, The Dark Knight Returns has been an influential touchstone to storytellers. Its use of character, page construction, color, and theme showed that four-color heroes can be used for darker concepts, exploring new ideas. Last week, Joss Whedon returned to our screens with the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Cabin in the Woods, with which Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) made his directorial debut to brilliant critical acclaim, with a script he co-wrote with Whedon.
This week, Whedon returns once more to our home entertainment systems with the release of The Avengers, the year’s biggest film to date, and the third-highest-grossing film of all time.
