It’s already been a pretty bleak start to Chicago P.D. Season 11 for Intelligence—and there’s more to come—so what these police officers really need is a chance to celebrate and have fun. The upcoming Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) wedding could be just that. Listen, Intelligence’s Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) may not be the same man he was when we first met him on Chicago Fire, but he’s still done some questionable things over the years and we know just how dark he can get on P.D., especially after 11 seasons. Well, it sounds like more of that is coming. “We’re only on Episode 7—there’s only 13—but I think we’re turning to the big bad of the season,” Marina Squerciati recently told TV Insider while discussing the Kim Burgess-centric “Safe Harbor,” which ended with her and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) once again engaged. “I think there’s going to be a serial killer, and we’re going to see a bit of the old Voight rage come back. So that’s really going to take control right now.” She continued, “We just started it, so I don’t really have much to say.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 3 “Safe Harbor.”] Marina Squerciati shines in this Kim Burgess-centric Chicago P.D., which ends on a moment that fans have been waiting for—and this time, it’s for good, the star says. Burgess takes the lead in an investigation into a shooting at a migrant camp at a precinct in another district, and she’s the one to uncover that an officer was behind it—to cover up a rape—and bring him in. She’s also willing to blur the lines when she uses her money to buy a witness fake immigration papers (the woman was taken away by Ice before she could hand them over). At the end of the episode, Burgess joins Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) in their bedroom and notes that women like the ones connected to the case are just fighting for what they have now. “Promise ...

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from tonight’s episode of Chicago P.D. titled, “Safe Harbour.”
Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) had her work cut out for her in tonight’s episode of NBC’s Chicago P.D. As the only Spanish speaker available to take on a case involving a murdered Venezuelan refugee, Burgess is all in but soon discovers a potential suspect is closer than she realizes.
Although the episode could’ve done a much better job in handling the controversial conversation around immigration—take a drink every time they use the word “illegal”—Burgess captivates in those moments where, instead of judging her fellow humanss, she goes into action while being sensitive to the plight of the refugees using humanity as her preferred weapon.
“Safe Harbour” opens with the slaying of a Venezuelan refugee who was shot to death in a drive-by shooting by an unknown assassin.

A new season of Chicago P.D. has begun, showing a disjointed Intelligence team struggling on the job.
The first episode focused primarily on Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and a case she stumbled upon.
Sergeant Trudy Platt loaned out Upton to work on a pilot program prioritizing mental health on calls.
Having Intelligence split up for part of the episode made it easier on the writers since Officer Dante Torres was out of the office.
Officer Adam Ruzek was also still on leave as he tried to recover from being shot in the Season 10 finale.
The second episode for Season 11 circles back to Ruzek, who gets caught up in a new case.

Chicago P.D. is back, but one familiar face was missing during the show’s season 11 premiere on Jan. 17. Benjamin Levy Aguilar, who has played Officer Dante Torres since season 9, was conspicuously absent from “Unpacking.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago P.D. Season 11 premiere “Unpacking.”] Intelligence needs to find a replacement for Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) in the Chicago P.D. Season 11 premiere, but Voight (Jason Beghe) refuses. And while his reaction makes it seem like he may not be ready to replace a fallen team member, it’s simply because he doesn’t want anyone except for Ruzek, who did survive that bullet in the Season 10 finale and is now trying to make his way back, but it’s going to take some time. Elsewhere in the premiere, to say Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is struggling would be an understatement. Not only are she and Halstead getting a divorce (she’s the petitioner), but she misreads someone she thinks is the prime suspect while riding along with the crisis prevention team. When Voight checks on her in her new place at the end of ...

Is Intelligence about to lose one of its own when Chicago P.D. returns for its 11th season? That’s what the NBC drama left us wondering, with the Season 10 finale wrapping up Ruzek’s (Patrick John Flueger) undercover assignment. The white supremacists, including Richard Beck, were stopped, yes, but his grandson, shot Ruzek. Wanting to protect her son, the kid’s mother took him and fled, leaving the officer bleeding out. It took much too long for our comfort for Ruzek to finally reach Burgess (Marina Squerciati). He was alive when he was taken to the hospital, but it’s unclear what happened after he went in for surgery. And with the ongoing writers and actors’ strikes, it’s going to be some time before we find out how that cliffhanger is resolved. In fact, those strikes could very well factor into what we see in the Season 11 premiere, as will the fact that,...

A pair of former production assistants-turned-assistant directors have created a nonprofit in hopes of providing financial aid to PAs who’ve been put out of work due to the strike.
Katie Hacker and Andrea Block argue that most PAs don’t qualify for most of the strike relief that’s available out there — not to mention how they are already the lowest paid crew members on TV and film projects. Once work resumes, the women argue, Pa paychecks will be much smaller than those of the rest of the crew — making it harder for them to recover from the strike.
That’s why Hacker and Block formed the Go for PAs Alliance in July.
“Our entire industry is in this together, and we feel strongly that the little guys should not be ignored in this conversation,” the women, both of whom went through the DGA training program, said in a statement.

Being at the bottom of the Hollywood ladder, production assistants are often overlooked and particularly vulnerable — especially in hard times like the current Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Several cast and production members at Chicago P.D. are stepping in to help the 13 set and office PAs on the popular NBC series, pitching in to give each of them $1,500. And it continues to provide viewers with often topical storytelling, edge-of-your-seat action, deep-dive character arcs, and adrenaline-racing thrills.
Viewers can't get enough of following the Intelligence Unit, headed by the polarizing and, at times, dodgy Hank Voight.
Throughout the series, we've seen various policing styles and an evolution in how things are done, particularly as the series has needed to evolve with the oscillating viewpoints on policing.
Chicago P.D. has always been timely, and it has made it the perfect fit for the One Chicago franchise, focusing on policing and immersing us into the streets of Chicago while still, at times, crossing paths with those of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire as well.

No Troma remake should attempt to match Troma at its revolting, boundary-demolishing, trigger-happy game. Take 1980’s Mother’s Day, for example. Troma Entertainment ringleader Lloyd Kaufman let his brother Charles Kaufman shoot a rape-revenge exploitation sleazefest no mamma would applaud. Darren Lynn Bousman’s 2010 remake abandons Tromaville signatures almost entirely for a mean-mugging reinterpretation rooted in more straightforward thriller formulas because few indie studios are willing to push as far as Troma — especially in today’s acutely more socially attentive climate. You could get away with Mother’s Day (1980) in the 80s, especially with its cereal bowls filled with consumerism commentaries, but even today’s midnighter-loving moviegoer is looking for something more evolved.
Then again, Troma’s catalog might be the most fertile soil for remakes, given how even midrange studio pocket change would be a budgetary increase. Troma Studios has earned its legacy as an independent horror tentpole, but...
