In the era of #MeToo, Time’s Up and a time when women are being treated unfairly in the workplace, The Assistant couldn’t be released at a more relevant time — and the fact that it takes place in Hollywood makes the story too on the nose.
Written and directed by Kitty Green and starring the indelible Julie Garner, the drama follows one day in the life of Jane (Garner), a recent college graduate who has hopes of becoming a film producer. She recently landed her dream job as a junior assistant to a powerful entertainment mogul (is this beginning to sound familiar?) Most of her day is spent doing what many expect from an assistant job: she makes coffee, orders lunch, takes phone messages, takes messages, loads paper in the copy machine — it’s your basic gofer work. But as we see her go through her day, she begins...

"Someone has to save our people." Greenwich Ent. has released a full official trailer for Yaron Zilberman's film Incitement, which was Israel's submission to the Oscars. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and we posted the teaser trailer a few months ago. The film chronicles the events and experiences that turned a promising law student into a delusional ultra-nationalist. Convinced he must stop the signing of the peace treaty in order to fulfill his destiny and bring salvation to his people, a devoted Orthodox Jew named Yigal Amir sees only one way forward - assassinate the Prime Minister. Described as a "gripping and unnerving look through the eyes of a murderer who silenced a powerful voice for peace." Starring Yehuda Nahari Halevi as Yigal, Daniella Kertesz, Sivan Mast, Amitayyaish Ben Ousilio, Amat Ravnitzki. This is an excellent trailer, the grainy footage in 4:3 mixed with archival footage makes it extra compelling.

Exclusive: Here’s a first teaser trailer for Incitement, Israel’s international Oscar hopeful which last month scored a U.S. deal for WestEnd Films with Greenwich Entertainment.
Writer-director Yaron Zilberman’s (A Late Quartet) Toronto and London Film Festival drama-thriller chronicles the year leading up to the assassination of Israel’s prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. Set against the backdrop of Rabin’s efforts to end the Israeli-Palestian conflict, the film is told through the journey of the assassin, Yigal Amir (played by Yehuda Nahari Halevi).
The film examines all the forces that acted on him, from his personal quest to become a hero in the eyes of his peers, and the rejection he faces from his love interest, to the intense incitement of politicians and religious leaders.

Premiered at Tiff 2019, Israel Film Festival Los Angeles, this film both incites and indicts violent reactions.
The Opening Night film of the Israel Film Festival Los Angeles, Incitement, was the winner of the Ophir Award for Israel’s Best Feature Film in 2019 and thereby is Israel’s Official Selection to the 2019 Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. Its world premiere was at the Toronto International Film Festival 2019.
Yaron Zilberman spoke at the Israel Film Festival’s Opening Night and acknowledged that the past 15 years were the greatest in Israeli film history.
Even if this film was not funded by the Israel Film Fund which operates independently of the government, the greatness of the industry today is attributable to the recently retired head of the Israel Film Fund, Katriet Schory who has fought his own government for creative freedom for its filmmakers and greenlit some of the strongest most compelling films of any country.
Directed by Yaron Zilberman and written by Yaron Zilberman and Ron Leshem, Incitement stars Yehuda Nahari Halevi, Amitay Yaish Ben Ousilio, Sivan Mast, Yoav Levi, Daniella Kertesz and Anat Ravnitzki.
Incitement is a film that was sure to incite the current Israeli government. In fact, Israel’s culture minister, Miri Regev claimed that the film — which received no state funding — maligned current prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu by suggesting he played a part in the incitement, through its footage of him speaking at a right-wing rally where protesters branded Rabin a “traitor”, a “murderer” and a “Nazi” for having signed a peace agreement with the Palestinians.
A psychological thriller, Incitement chronicles the year leading to the assassination of Israel’s prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. On the backdrop of Rabin’s efforts to end once and for all the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the film is told through the journey of the assassin. It examines all the forces that acted on him, from his personal quest to become a hero in the eyes of his peers, and the rejection he faces from his love interest, to the intense incitement of politicians and religious leaders. The film is a cautionary tale to what happens when leaders use politics of violence and hate.

In a passionately divided democracy, the hate-filled words of politicians, cultural influencers and the right-wing media incite an extreme nationalist to commit murder. Although this plot summary sounds as if could be ripped from recent U.S. headlines, “Incitement” is actually a provocative drama from Israeli helmer Yaron Zilberman (“A Late Quartet”), which looks at what inspired the devoutly Orthodox law student Yigal Amir to kill Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The assassination took place on Nov. 4, 1995, as Rabin was trying to orchestrate a comprehensive peace settlement between Israelis and Palestinians that involved giving up territory controled by Israel since the Six Day War, and his death effectively derailed the prospect of peace.
While “Incitement” is a compelling watch, with archival footage neatly woven in, and offers a salutary warning about how easily democracies are endangered, this psychological profile of a political assassin nevertheless falls into a kind of moral trap.

Despite Paramount Pictures removing the World War Z sequel (along with the new Friday the 13th movie) from their release schedule early this year, hope for the Brad Pitt project stayed afloat, with filmmaker David Fincher reportedly still interested in taking the directing reins on the follow-up to 2013's World War Z. In a recent interview with Empire, Fincher addressed the status of the World War Z sequel, confirming his interest and giving fans of the first film a glimmer of hope, even though the film is in the early stages of reanimation.
Fincher was recently a guest on Empire's podcast to discuss his new Netflix series Mindhunters, but he also touched on the long-gestating World War Z sequel, saying (via Collider):
“I worked on a show for HBO that didn’t see the light of day and at the same time was doing [Mindhunter], and then did [Mindhunter], and I...

Following the revelation that the new Friday the 13th movie has been canceled after Paramount Pictures removed it from their release schedule, some are fearing that the World War Z sequel might suffer a similar fate after vacating its 2017 release slot, but it appears that director David Fincher is still interested in keeping the living dead project alive.
According to THR, David Fincher remains “very creatively interested in directing the movie” after Paramount took the sequel to 2013’s World War Z off of their release schedule, presumably to set it for a later release in 2018 or ’19. World War Z 2 was initially slated to come out on June 9th of this year.
Back in August, it was first reported that Finhcer was in early discussions with the film’s star and producer Brad Pitt to helm the sequel after J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) departed the project. Fincher has previously worked with Pitt on Se7en,...

The human race is obsessed with what happens when we die, depending on your beliefs there is heaven or hell, an afterlife or even just nothing. AfterDeath raises a few questions of where we go, and raises some thought-provoking issues about the process of moving on… When five people find themselves trapped in an abandoned beach house they soon realise they are dead. With “limbo” slowly closing in on them and a demonic shadow attacking them based on their sins, where are they bound? Heaven or Hell?
AfterDeath doesn’t push religion on you and in a way this may be a weakness. For the most part though, the characters are pretty much clued in on the fact that they are dead and will either be going to heaven or hell.

You all should be well aware by now that World War Z went through some major changes after producers were not happy with Marc Forster's cut of the film. The brought in screenwriter Damon Lindelof, who viewed the film, and then made some suggestions that completely changed the third act. The main changes take place when Brad Pitt's character, Gerry Lane, boards a plane in Jerusalem with the injured female Israeli soldier Segen (Daniella Kertesz). In the theatrical version, the plane is rerouted by the United Nations, is attacked by zombies in mid-flight, and crashes in crash land in Wales. Gerry and Segen are the only two survivors and head off to a World Health Organization building nearby. But in Matthew Michael Carnahan’s draft of the script, the plane isn't attacked by zombies or rerouted by the U.N., but instead lands safely in Russia. There, the country is in bad shape,...

World War Z sequel planned? (Photo: Brad Pitt turns into a zombie-targeting axe-murderer in World War Z) Following the early success of Marc Forster and Brad Pitt’s zombie movie World War Z, Paramount Pictures "actively will turn to developing a sequel," claims The Hollywood Reporter, citing studio vice chairman Rob Moore. However, the Reporter article features no Moore quotes explicitly stating that Paramount has actually given the go-ahead to World War Z 2 — or whatever a World War Z sequel would be called. Co-produced by Paramount and Skydance Productions, the $220-$230 million-budgeted zombie movie (minus rebates and tax breaks, its official budget goes down to $190-$200 million) debuted this past weekend in North America and 25 international territories, collecting an estimated worldwide total of $112.21 million: $66.41 million in the Us/Canada (behind Monsters University‘s $82.42 million) and an estimated $45.8 million internationally (behind Man of Steel‘s $89 million and Monsters University‘s $54.5 million...

World War Z won’t win many if any awards but if there was a prize for a film being more satisfying than it ever had any right to be it would certainly be a contender. A director whose only big budget film was the insanely messy and at-times incoherent Quantum of Solace, on-set troubles which led to stories of director and star barely being on speaking terms and a third act which was found to be too poor to use after it was written, green lit and shot which in turn has had co-producer and star Brad Pitt earning his money by journeying across the Us and the UK introducing screenings in a PR blitz to...

Rated PG-13
Many of us have been waiting for this day for quite some time. It began for us when we read Max Brooks’ brilliant diary/novel describing the post-apocalyptic events of a worldwide zombie war and its ongoing effects. When we learned that it was being adapted into a big screen rendition anxiously passed the time by watching The Walking Dead television series in order to keep our zombie Iq’s sharp and we continuously trolled the internet for all the late-breaking news surrounding the production of this film. We waited a long time for this as this is our D day, or more appropriately, our Z day - and I have to warn you that I’m about to issue a huge spoiler. Read no further if you dare,...

I wasn't a huge fan of World War Z (review Here) but not because it seemed in any way patched together (which many feared it would after the re-shoots) in fact I thought the climactic scenes in the research center were probably the strongest in the movie. My biggest problem was just how by-the-numbers it all seemed. This movie contained not a single surprise for me, but reading through Movies.com's report on the original ending I can see not only why re-shoots were called for, but that there was a much ballsier, more compelling film in there somewhere. The theatrical ending of World War Z sees Gerry (Brad Pitt) and Segen (Daniella Kertesz) manage to find a cure (or sorts) to the Zombie outbreak, and travel meet Gerry's family, where everything ends with hugs and kisses while we await the inevitable sequel. Safe, but exactly very surprising right? But...

World War Z weekend box office: Monsters rule, but zombies are the big surprise hit (photo: Brad Pitt in World War Z) World War Z, Brad Pitt, and his living-dead pals have turned out to be the big (happy) surprise at the North American box office this weekend, June 21-23, 2013. In case Friday’s estimates are on target, the $190-$200 million-budgeted World War Z should collect $57-$60 million by Sunday evening, or about $10-$15 million more than many pundits had been expecting. Yesterday, World War Z opened with $25 million — about $5 million above early estimates — from 3,607 locations according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. That figure includes $3.6 million from Thursday evening screenings. In case there’s a Saturday surge for Marc Forster’s Paramount-distributed PG-13 zombie movie, World War Z could actually go quite a bit beyond the $60 million mark. That’s good news for the studio and for producer Brad Pitt,...

New World War Z movie served up great action, thrills, suspense & more. Paramount Pictures released their new action/thriller flick "World War Z" into theaters this weekend. I just watched it,and thought it was excellent, serving up a ton of intense action, thrills, suspense, and more as the zombies were heavy on the attack. I also really dug the plotline. The movie stars: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox, and David Morse. In the new flick, former Un employee ,Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), and his family seem all and well in Philadelphia until total chaos immediately breaks out on the city streets, followed by an onslaught of wicked zombies that quickly spread the disease to anyone they bit within minutes, causing a massive epidemic. Eventually, Gerry and his family narrowly escaped, and fled to an apartment complex to get rescued by a helicopter that...

World War Z box office vs. Monsters University vs. Man of Steel (photo: Brad Pitt in World War Z) The North American box office will be huge this weekend, June 21-23, 2013. You’ve surely read that elsewhere, and it’s no exaggeration. The combined gross of the top three movies alone — Monsters University, World War Z, Man of Steel — should hover around $180 million. Now, what remains to be seen is if there’ll be any dollars (whether Canadian or American) left for the dozens of other movies on North American screens. It’s like having huge supermarkets making little neighborhood stores disappear from view. But hey, that seems to be exactly what the moviegoing public wants. According to early, rough estimates found at Deadline.com, Disney / Pixar’s Monsters University will easily top the domestic box office following a Friday gross around $25-$28 million, in addition to $2.6 million from Thursday evening screenings.

Director: Marc Forster Writer(s): Matthew Michael Carnahan (screenplay & screen story), Drew Goddard (screenplay), Damon Lindelof (screenplay), J. Michael Straczynski (screen story), Max Brooks (based on the novel by) Starring: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, Fana Mokoena For many, reading Max Brooks’ World War Z was a redefining moment in how we view zombies. Far more than filler for movies that intend to pack as many head-shots and gore into 85 minutes, these zombies were unromantic, brutally lethal, and took their toll in every corner of the world, from the otaku so embroiled in his online life that he misses the apocalypse almost altogether, to the soldier on the front line, to the "survivors" that turn to cannibalism. Brooks' beautifully researched and realized collection of vignettes contained never before seen scope on the what if of a zombie apocalypse, and brought the threat, chillingly, into the readers’ own hands.

Brazil protests lead Brad Pitt to cancel World War Z promo trip in Rio Brad Pitt has canceled plans to come to Brazil to promote World War Z, which opens in that country on June 28, 2013. Pitt was expected to arrive later tonight, June 21, with daughters Shiloh and Zahara, according to the Rio de Janeiro daily O Globo. The reason for Pitt’s cancellation are the “Brazil Protests,” a wave of demonstrations that last night brought approximately one million Brazilians to the streets, protesting against police brutality, government and corporate corruption, dismal public services, and billions of public money being spent on state-of-the-art facilities for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games while the country’s health and education infrastructure is crumbling. World War Z distributor Paramount Pictures has made no pronouncements regarding Brad Pitt’s decision, adding only that director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace, Finding Neverland) will also no...

With the release of Brad Pitt’s new film, we invite you to enter to win a copy of the World War Z soundtrack. The score is available now on Warner Bros. Records, featuring music by Marco Beltrami.
Beltrami, who brought the unique sounds of clacking teeth and wailing sirens to his score for World War Z, based all the melody, harmony and rhythm of the score on the U.S. Emergency Broadcast System signal siren, and then incorporated non-traditional percussive elements, like the sound of animal skulls teeth being mashed together, creating an atypical sonic palette, blending the rhythms of bone-on-bone with a full orchestra.
Read Wamg’s interview with Marco Beltrami Here.
Answer the following:
The prolific, Italian-born film composer got his start with the teen horror franchise “Scream.” Marco Beltrami has had two of his scores nominated for Oscars.

World War Z is easily the best time I’ve had at the movies so far this summer. Yes, I’ve heard all the stories about the huge production going over budget and all the reshoots and multiple script doctors, but for me, none of that was evident in the finished product.
Not being a fan at all of the zombie genre that has become so popular of late, I saw this more as a “global disaster” movie that had huge portions of the population affected and infected by a worldwide pandemic.
Brad Pitt is Gerry Lane, a former Un field investigator that now enjoys life as a family man with his wife (Mireille Enos) and daughters. In a hot second he goes from that tranquility to having to save his family and basically the rest of the world from marauding zombies. The infected folks are quite frightening as they...

"World War Z" promised to be some sort of ultimate zombie movie experience, and it's hard to call it that. But the first 25 minutes or so of this "Contagion"-meets-"28 Days Later" thriller will leave you breathless. And the rest of it serves up novel and often entertaining solutions to the various "zombie problems" that this overexposed genre presents.
Marc Forster ("Quantum of Solace") hurls us straight into the action. Barely five minutes into the film, ex-u.N. trouble-shooter Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), his wife (Mireille Enos) and two kids are trapped in Philadelphia traffic when all heck breaks loose. Whatever hints there have been about this "rabies" outbreak on the news cannot prepare them for the melee a tidal wave of the undead unleash.
They dash through an onslaught of zombies, streets of mayhem, stores filled with looters. Parents act like parents (To the kids: "Be Ninja quiet!") and...

"World War Z" is a subtle combination of a medical thriller and a horror film. Packed with fleetingly captivating emotional moments and mobs of panic-stricken people running from something we cannot see, the film evokes mixed reaction.
Inspired by, if not really based on Max Brooks' novel with the same name, the story is about zombie - Apocalypse.

I didn’t think that World War Z would turn out to be an enjoyable movie. The signs of a troubled film production were there: substantial changes in the screen story from the source material; extensive reshoots of the movie’s ending; big budgetary overruns; and rumors of the director and the star clashing to the point that they had stopped speaking to each other.
But the final product works. World War Z is a decent movie.
Brad Pitt plays our hero, the guy that gets called out of retirement and away from his family because only he can save the world, in this particular story from the lightning quick spread of the undead. A zombie virus is rapidly killing off the global population. In the movie’s first 15 minutes we get to see how lethal the virus is, and how quickly a city can fall from the rising hordes of undead.

World War Z: Zombies movie offers ‘Breathtaking’ overhead shots [See previous post: "World War Z Review: Saved by Zombies."] These early scenes establish the speed and sheer number of undead and also unveil some visual go-to’s developed by Marc Forster (of the dreadful Quantum of Solace) and DPs Robert Richardson (who started the project) and Ben Seresin (who finished it and received sole credit). The most breathtaking are the overhead shots, oftentimes from a helicopter’s Pov, showing thousands of zombies filling the streets like floodwater. They figure prominently in the movie’s best section, when Gerry travels to Israel to investigate why the Israelis sensed the coming zombie invasion early enough to build a wall around Jerusalem. (Photo: World War Z zombies try to climb Jerusalem wall.) But since World War Z isn’t very interested in exploring the effects of a zombie takeover on social or religious order, the Israeli scenes, enlivened by eye-level shots of...
