Back in the days of Blockbuster and local video rental stores, there was always that one rack — the one packed with horror flicks with gory-looking covers that scared Eighties and Nineties kids witless. Now, that same vibe has come to Shudder in the form of Josh Forbes’ Destroy All Neighbors, starring none other than Eighties hero Alex Winter.
Winter, star of 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1987’s The Lost Boys, has mostly been in his writer-director era for the past few decades — save for a recent appearance as Bill S.

Stars: Jonah Ray, Ryan Kattner, Kiran Deol, Randee Heller, Alex Winter, Jon Daly, Thomas Lennon, Kumail Nanjiani | Written by Mike Benner, Jared Logan, Charles A. Pieper | Directed by Josh Forbes
Revolving around two things many of us know all too well, neighbours from hell and writer’s block, Destroy All Neighbors is an over-the-top exercise in splatstick from director Josh Forbes and writers Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper.
William Brown makes his living as a sound engineer at Industrial Sound & Magic, helping to bring other people’s music to life. Currently, it’s the obnoxious Caleb Bang Jansen, “Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It sounds like Emerson getting buttfucked by Lake and Palmer.”
But when it comes to his own Prog Rock album, he’s stuck in a rut. While his girlfriend Emily believes in him, everyone else around him seems to exist only to stifle his efforts.

Plot: Struggling prog-rock musician William Brown finds himself in a living nightmare when he accidentally kills Vlad, the neighbor from hell.
Review: We’ve all had neighbors that make too much noise and drive us crazy right? It almost feels like a rite of passage. The bass of their music pierces every corner of your mind as you’re just trying to live your life. Every footstep sounds like the stomping of an elephant. But what if, when trying to defuse the situation, you somehow manage to murder them? Destroy All Neighbors takes this concept, adds in some prog rock and wonderful creature FX, and gives us a fun time at the movies.

Watching the opening sequence of Destroy All Neighbors, one might well anticipate a classic gonzo horror experience. True, this owes something to 2015’s Curtain, but its use of music and colour and gleeful grotesquerie marks it out as something specific and totally committed. It does a good job of maintaining this mood throughout, but unfortunately fizzles out in other ways, as its narrative ideas are as scattered and messy as the body parts of some of its characters.
How much of it is intended to be real, and how much hallucination? You might well wonder, as dream logic tends to predominate despite a more sober start. If you’ve ever had a neighbour who was loud all of the time, round the clock, then you’ll appreciate the ways in which lack of sleep can start to make the real world and the imaginary difficult to distinguish. Will (Jonah Ray) is particularly.

5 Best Christmas Horror Movies(Photo Credit –IMDb)
When one thinks of Christmas, horror, and gore are generally not the first things that come to mind. Christmas is all about having fun. It’s full of life and color, and identifying it as scary would be out of place. And while Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” does make a perfect example of a ‘scary Christmas,’ it does not qualify as a traditional, spine-chilling horror movie. But contrary to popular narrative — certain media out there does it, and does it well. Think of the latest “Fargo” episode that runs a Halloween theme and blends it with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”
So, the appeal behind it is understandable. This is why we have curated a list of the best Christmas horror movies you can enjoy for a change of pace from all the happy and sparkly traditions.

Writer/actor Felicia Day made the trek to the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con in support of her fantasy adventure audio series Third Eye, debuting on Audible on October 5, 2023. The seven-hour audio series stars Day as Laurel Pettigrew, a not-so-ordinary San Francisco resident who was supposed to rid the world of the evil Tybus. Unfortunately, Laurel couldn’t fulfill her destiny.
Audible offers this description: “Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel’s the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule. He’s even stripped away the magical powers of those who refused to join his wicked cause. Yeah, everyone hates her. Five Latino filmmakers have come together for the horror anthology Satanic Hispanics, releasing in theaters on Friday, September 14, 2023. Ahead of the release, Bloody Disgusting has been provided an exclusive clip introducing the anthology’s enigmatic storyteller.
In the film, “When police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos, and only one survivor. He’s known as The Traveler, and when they take him to the station for questioning he tells them those lands are full of magic and talks about the horrors he’s encountered in his long time on this earth, about portals to other worlds, mythical creatures, demons and the undead. Stories about Latin American legends.”
Meet the Traveler, played by Efren Ramirez, in the clip below. Helmed by director Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!), the Traveler is featured in the wraparound that connects four other tales of terror.

Writer and Actress Felicia Day stopped by San Diego Comic-Con along with some of her cast from her new story “Third Eye.” Day is the creator and star of the web series The Guild (2007–2013), a show loosely based on her life as a gamer. As an actress, Day has played Vi in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2003) and Dr. Holly Marten in Eureka (2011) and had a recurring role as Charlie Bradbury on Supernatural (2012–2015, 2018–2020).
According to Audible, “Third Eye” is about the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel’s performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop.

We all know Mystery Science Theater 3000 as the show in which a human host and a couple of robots make fun of bad movies. According to in-universe lore, the movies come via mad scientist members of the Forrester family, who test the sanity of a human subject by forcing them to watch terrible films. The humans — beginning with Joel Robinson (series creator Joel Hodgson), followed by Mike Nelson (Michael J. Nelson), Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray), and Emily Connor (Emily Marsh) — fight back by riffing on the films, a task made easier not just by the robot sidekicks Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo, but also by the genuine awfulness of the movies.

Earlier this year, Dread and Iconic Events announced they are teaming up to give the horror anthology Satanic Hispanics a theatrical release on 800 screens in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It has since been confirmed that the specific release date is September 14th – and with that date just a month away, the full trailer for Satanic Hispanics has arrived online! "Detectives - you have no idea what is coming." Epic Pictures has revealed a trailer for indie horror project Satanic Hispanics, arriving in theaters this September. The film spotlights Hispanic talent both in front and behind the camera. Each director hails from a different corner of Latin America, contributing folklore and political and social commentary from Argentina, Cuba, + Mexico, fused through a genre lens. This first premiered at Fantastic Fest last year, and it also played at the Brussells & Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Fests earlier this spring. A police raid takes place on a mystery location where a brutal massacre has happened and only one survivor remains. Taken into custody, the mysterious man has some strange tales to tell whilst the clock ticks down to a deadline that the man says will be the end of them all. The cast includes Efren Ramirez, Greg Grunberg, Hemky Madera, Jonah Ray Rodrigues, Ari Allegos,...

As you may have heard, the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con International was not the usual Sdcc experience.
On July 14, the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA joined their writing counterparts in the WGA by going on strike and picketing the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for its refusal to grant them a fair deal. Since the details of the strike preclude actors and writers from promoting their union-backed films and TV shows, many of the planned panels, promotions, and guests at Comic-Con had to bow out.
The end result was a Con that very much resembled the event’s earlier days before it became a action item on the calendar for big studios like Marvel, DC, and others to showcase their upcoming blockbusters. And you know what? It was all still pretty cool!

The Tribeca Festival is nearly here, taking place June 7 to June 18, and it brings a packed slate of screenings and premieres.
The festival’s 22nd edition offers a hybrid experience of virtual and in-person, with notable genre programming dedicated to repertory screenings that include Re-Animator to upcoming premieres. In other words, Tribeca’s bringing the horror this year.
Here are five titles we can’t wait to see at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
Bad Things (United States) – World Premiere
In this haunting thriller, a new variation of psychological horror invites audiences to question the limitations of our contemporary relationships with people and spaces, and the implications of undealt trauma.
Written/Directed by Stewart Thorndike. Gayle Rankin, Hari Nef, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and Rad Pereira star.
Why we’re excited: Haunted hotels and fragile minds pair well together in horror, as The Shining classically demonstrated.

Once streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Prime Video siphoned viewers off from the networks, everyone wanted to get in on the streaming game. That’s led to some great services like Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+ and Apple TV+ with original programming you can’t get anywhere else.
Quibi ad in the subway | Alexi Rosenfeld/Getty Image
Not every new streaming service made it though. It’s the nature of the business. There are probably dozens of obscure streaming services that never made a dent, but these five were supposed to be somewhat big things. They’re gone now, but we can still pour one out for them.
Quibi was a misguided streaming service from the start
Perhaps the most notable streaming service flameout was Quibi. Short for “quick bites,” Quibi separated shows into segments under 10 minutes, the idea being that you could watch them in shorter blocks than 30-60 minute shows.

Some very good news for "Mystery Science Theater 3000" fans has emerged, and this isn't even news that will be good in the not-too-distant future -- it's good right now! The series resurfaced for season 13 last year after a very successful round of crowdfunding. It resulted in a full 13 episodes, including the return of Joel Hodgson as Joel Robinson, which is something that hasn't happened in years. Certain fans would be forgiven for not realizing that the series had come back yet again, as it wasn't through a major cable channel, nor was it on a big streaming service. Rather, the episodes were released independently through The Gizmoplex, which was a website dedicated to all things "MST3K."
The idea was that fans could pay for a somewhat pricey season pass to watch all of the episodes that ran for $135, though it also included access to livestreams and other perks.

Written and directed by Joe Begos, the holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas follows a robotic Santa Claus on a violent rampage. With the film now in theaters and on Shudder, I had a chance to catch up with the movie's star, Riley Dandy, as well as Joe Begos to discuss the making of this new holiday horror film!
"It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms just wants to get drunk and party, until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated. Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal and violence, ultimately forcing Tori into a blood splattered battle for survival against the ruthless heavy metal Saint Nick himself."

Drinking and partying is all Eve and Tori have on their minds on Christmas Eve. Until they are surprised by a robotic Santa that goes berserk and embarks on a rampant killing spree in the small town. This will pave the way for a battle for survival.
Christmas Bloody Christmas (2022) Movie Review
‘Christmas Bloody Christmas’ is a slasher that has had to make do with limited means (meaning: a lot of red sauce and a troupe of pals that do not have to deal with the interference of a major studio)… Yes, this is a B-movie that gives it its all in this rowdy, irreverent feature, and that seems to try to transmit the hilarity of participating in it, with quirky dialogues, a couple of steamy scenes and,...

The longevity of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" has been fascinating to behold. Beginning on Minnesota public access television in 1988, Joel Hodgson's watch-bad-movies-with-sarcastic-buddies cult TV series has deeply entrenched itself into the collected Jungian lore of every Gen-Xer worth their weight in flannel. For much of its life, "MST3K" lived either on Ktma in Minneapolis or, when it became more successful, running at midnight on Comedy Central.
Throughout, the show famously included the phrase "Keep circulating the tapes" in its credits. That was an acknowledgement from the show's producers that world-of-mouth and shared VHS recordings of "MST3K" were responsible for its modest cultural foothold. Fans would call friends, mail them cassettes, and implore that the cult grow. In 2008, when "MST3K" was finally made widely available through DVD box sets, Dr. Forrester/Crow T. Robot actor Trace Beaulieu said in an Av Club interview to "Keep circulating some of the tapes.

The holidays are upon us and it all begins with the slasher Christmas Bloody Christmas, the new horror movie from Joe Begos (Bliss, Vfw) that opens in theaters this Friday, December 9, from Rlje Films.
Watch the official Christmas Bloody Christmas trailer below, which presents a twisted vision bathed in Christmas glow and soaked in crimson fluids.
In the film…
“It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms (Riley Dandy) just wants to get drunk and party, until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated.
“Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon-drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal and violence, ultimately forcing Tori into a blood-splattered battle for survival against the ruthless heavy metal Saint Nick himself.”
Sam Delich, Jonah Ray Rodrigues, Dora Madison and Jeremy Gardner also star in...

While Violent Night is lighting the box office on fire, there’s another film featuring a Santa with a bit of bloodlust: Christmas Bloody Christmas. Thankfully this Santa is much less friendly and a lot more homicidal. I was fortunate enough to talk with the writer/director, Joe Begos, and pick his brain on this wonderful little title. He talks about how it started as a Silent Night, Deadly Night remake, only to evolve into a killer robot Santa film. This is probably my favorite conversation yet, so don’t miss it!

Last year, we saw a list of thirteen movies that would be riffed during the new season of the classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is now being released through the show’s own indie streaming platform The Gizmoplex. On that list was a movie called The Christmas Dragon, which was said to be about “a group of orphans going on a journey to restore the lost magic and save Christmas.” What wasn’t mentioned at that time is that original MST3K host Joel Hodgson will be returning to riff The Christmas Dragon with current hosts Jonah Ray and Emily Marsh!
The Christmas Dragon episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be reaching the Gizmoplex on December 16th. The livestream premiere begins at 8pm Eastern. Here’s the information:
For the first time in Mystery Science Theater 3000 history, Three hosts will be riffing one Christmas turkey! In this very special holiday episode,...

I’ve been a fan of writer/director Joe Begos’ work ever since I saw his first feature, Almost Human, back in 2104 at Frightfest. My love of his work was cemented by The Mind’s Eye, Bliss and Vfw. One thing his films are known for are the various influences that 80s cinema has had on his work – from The Mind’s Eye being inspired by Scanners; Bliss feeling like the brethren of Near Dark by way of To Live or Die in LA… Begos’ films tend to take on different cinematic horror tropes, whilst harkening back to the 80s, in both style and substance.
For many of us, the 80s is an era where ideas were allowed to run rampant, mainly in part due to...

There isn’t much left of 2022, but one of my most highly anticipated movies coming in what’s left of this year is writer/director Joe Begos‘s holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas – which got an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO that you can read Here. Now a trailer for Christmas Bloody Christmas has arrived online to give us a preview of what this film will have in store for us when it reaches theatres and the Shudder streaming service on December 9th. "Ho ho ho!!" Rlje Films + Shudder have revealed an official trailer for a hilariously crazy, brutally violent new holiday horror film titled Christmas Bloody Christmas. While there have been other animatronics-come-alive horror films this year already (see Spirit Halloween and The Curse of Bridge Hollow) this one looks like the best. It's the latest film from director Joe Begos, known for his gritty indie features Bliss and Vfw previously. It's Christmas Eve and Tori just wants to get drunk and finally party, but when a robotic Santa Clause at a nearby toy store goes haywire and begins a rampant killing spree through her small town, she's forced into a battle for survival. The film stars Riley Dandy, Sam Delich, Jonah Ray Rodrigues, Dora Madison, Jeremy Gardner, Jeff Daniel Phillips, & Abraham Benrubi. Uh looks awesome?!?! Wtf! What an incredible trailer - great choice of music and footage. He has laser eyes?...
