Edouard Getaz was born in Lausanne in 1973, and now lives in New York
City. Having studied film direction and production at New York
University, he works both as director and producer.
Since he was a teenager and for almost fifteen years, Edouard
contributed to the organization and programming of the Cully Jazz
Festival, which became one of the main jazz festivals in Switzerland.
In 1999, Edouard obtained his law degree from the University of
Fribourg. He co-founded an event communication agency, where he was the
Artistic Director for five years before turning to the field of cinema.
His first short film, Virgin Red (2005) met with key success in 2006 on
the festival circuit on several continents (most notably: Locarno,
Melbourne, Rhode Island, Amman, etc.). His second short, Freud's Magic
Powder (2009) - selection Locarno Film Festival - is a period
drama/comedy.
Edouard has been a show producer for over ten years. He recently
produced a version of "Peter and the Wolf" with the LA Philharmonic
Orchestra at the Disney Hall in Los Angeles.
As producer/director, Edouard is developing a feature-length fiction,
Risk, a thriller based on a true story.
