Top Gun fans waited over thirty years for Top Gun: Maverick, but the wait was well worth it. The film was an overwhelming success, earning rave reviews and grossing $1.4 billion worldwide. Considering those box-office bucks, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Paramount is developing Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise expected to reprise his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell alongside Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw (Miles Teller) and Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin (Glen Powell).
Although we likely won’t have to wait as long as we did for Maverick, those involved with the threequel aren’t about to rush the project. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gave a Top Gun 3 update to Games Radar, saying that he’s had “preliminary” conversations with Tom Cruise, but “we’re not there yet. [There’s] ways to go.“

To celebrate Studiocanal’s release of the 4K restoration of Powell and Pressburger’s The Small Back Room on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on 3 June, we have a Blu-ray to give away!
From the legendary filmmaking duo Powell and Pressburger, The Small Back Room (1949) is the story of the troubled love affair between a tormented back-room scientist and a secretary, told against a background of ministerial intrigue and Empire building.
Sammy Rice (David Farrar) was the army’s finest bomb disposal officer until he was injured in the war. Now part of a specialist ‘back room’ team, he dismantles the boobytrapped devices being dropped by Nazi bombers. He falls in love with Susan (Kathleen Byron), a colleague, and the two begin a secret affair.
However, embittered by life, he feels inferior: inferior as a lover, inferior as a man unable to wear uniform, inferior in his work. Although a brilliant scientist,...

Reuniting the stars of Black Narcissus, this movie about a back-room boffin attached to a bomb disposal unit finds the film-makers pushing gloriously against genre conventions
Kathleen Byron and David Farrar were unforgettable presences in the 1947 Powell and Pressburger classic Black Narcissus, playing a hysterical nun and the taciturn colonial agent with whom she is peevishly infatuated. The film-makers reunited these remarkable performers two years later for this intimate, intense wartime drama thriller; brilliant on the emotional misery, low-level dread and petty office politics of wartime government. It takes place mostly in London’s noirish darkness and rain, except for the sensational final sequence in the bright sunlight of Chesil beach in Dorset.
Adapted from an autobiographical novel by military scientist Nigel Balchin, The Small Back Room is a work that shows the film-makers pushing – brilliantly – at the conventions and constraints of a regular wartime period drama. Any number of...

Glen Powell almost said no to his career-changing role in Top Gun: Maverick. Why? Well, he initially auditioned for the role of Rooster which, as we all know, went to Miles Teller. Disheartened by the loss and unamused by Hangman’s character, Glen Powell contemplated walking out of the film. That is until Tom Cruise had a word with him. Clearly, the two actors bonded during their time in the film.

In fact, Tom Cruise gave Glen Powell a gift that he rarely gives anyone – his six-hour-long movie. You certainly read that right. Hollywood’s superstar has a film school movie that he only allows to be seen by his friends. In the film, Tom Cruise does his best to teach viewers everything he has learned about filmmaking over the years and Glen Powell was one of the few lucky ones who got to see it.

Glen Powell is an American actor, writer, and producer who is involved in almost every part of filmmaking. Recently, he’s been known for his roles in ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Anyone But You.’ One of his big breaks came in 2016 with the movie ‘Hidden Figures,’ where he played astronaut John Glenn. This film, which shows the contributions of African American women mathematicians at NASA during the Space Race, was a big hit.
Powell started acting much earlier, appearing in a ‘Spy Kids’ movie when he was 13. Now, after finally making it big in Hollywood, the actor is stepping back and ready to give it all up.
Previously, the actor said he was ready to retire from acting and didn’t want to be in Marvel movies or films aimed at winning Oscars. However, in a recent interview with GQ, he said he’s willing to make an exception.

Glen Powell is sharing his thoughts on playing the role of Batman and has some ideas.
In a new interview with GQ, Powell led a tour around the Warner Bros. Studio lot and came across the Batmobile section.
“I was always a Batman guy,” Powell said. “I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”
The reporter noted that Powell doesn’t have any interest in playing a superhero. When Powell found Keaton’s Batmobile, he said, “Oh, sick! See? This is the era.”

Top Gun: Maverick was not only a treat to the film industry but to the eyes as well thanks to Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and of course, Glen Powell. The actors put their best foot forward into making the film what it is and somewhere along the way, we fell in love with every single face we saw on the screen. Whether it was the film’s intense, emotional, or fun scenes like the one on the beach, everything was crafted to perfection.

Richard Linklater’s decade-spanning masterwork Boyhood introduced the world to the concept of a Beatles “Black Album.” In that 2014 film, Ethan Hawke’s Mason Evans Sr. presents a personally curated album of the rock band’s solo tracks to his son on the child’s 15th birthday. Mason Sr. explains the impossibility of picking a favorite Beatle because the beauty of their artistry lies in their balance. The curatorial act of synergizing the sensational, the spiritual, the sensual, and the sentimental elevates them all.
The same logic that applies to the Fab Four also works as a description for Linklater himself. The Austin-based filmmaker remains one of American cinema’s most versatile artisans, as comfortable helming a mass-market studio comedy as he is a talky indie drama. No matter the form his output takes, it bears his trademark stamp of wisdom and wonder that’s been evident since his 1991 breakout...

Sydney Sweeney has had an interesting trajectory in the industry with the actress being one of the most promising among the current bunch of actors in their 20s. Way back in 2016, we got word that a live-action Captain Planet movie was in development at Paramount Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way, with Jono Matt and current Hollywood golden boy Glen Powell enlisted to write the script. The Top Gun: Maverick and Hit Man star was also said to be in line to play the title role.
Apparently, this take on the animated series was going to be set "years after the adventures of the show, with the Captain now a washed up hasbeen who needs the kids more than they need him."
Updates have been pretty much non-existent since, but Powell recently confirmed that the project is still in the works, and he's very keen to play the environmentalist hero.

The Blue Angels happens to be a pretty cool title for a movie title. You are not at fault if you expect it to be some sort of thrilling thing. Well, “Blue Angels” is what the United States Navy flight demonstration squadron is popularly known as. In popular culture, it is, of course, the Top Gun films that have introduced us to them. Interestingly, Glen Powell, who rose to fame thanks to Top Gun: Maverick (2022), is one of the producers of the latest The Blue Angels movie. Powell also starred in another Blue Angels-inspired movie, Devotion (2023), following his Top Gun success. The Blue Angels is a documentary, though, about the real thing. Now I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but The Blue Angels turns out to be somewhat underwhelming—just saying.

Let’s start off with a short recap. The Jurassic World trilogy starring Chris Pratt continued where Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park trilogy left off and expanded the universe of Michael Crichton’s original novel. Now, while Dominion was supposed to be the last movie in the series, it was soon confirmed that the studio was not giving up on the franchise and that a new trilogy of movies was planned. David Leitch was originally attached to the movie, but he later departed and was replaced by Gareth Edwards, who will be helming the film. We have also received some casting updates, and the most recent report seemingly reveals that we have the three main characters from the movie.
The untitled movie will supposedly start a completely new storyline; sure, Jurassic World was something new as well, but it was a sequel to the story started in Jurassic Park, so the stories were,...

“All this filming isn’t healthy,” says blind but perceptive Mrs. Stephens (Maxine Audley) late in Michael Powell’s resolutely disturbing Peeping Tom, and every aspect of the film’s rigorously self-reflexive construction seems to bear her out. From the opening shot of an opening eye, to the final shot of a blank screen swathed in black and blood-red gel lighting, Peeping Tom obsessively examines the social and psychological ramifications of overactive cinephilia. This situates Powell’s film as a direct precursor to later 1960s autocritiques along the lines of Federico Fellini’s 8½, Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up, and Haskell Wexler’s Medium Cool.
