Along with the shift of animated movie Transformers One by one week in September this year, Paramount pushed the Aang Avatar animated movie from Oct. 10, 2025 to Jan. 30, 2026.
The Lauren Montgomery directed animated film stars the voice of Dave Bautista (this was made official at CinemaCon last week), Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Roman Zaragoza. William Mata is co-director.
The big screen movie is based on Avatar: The Last Airbender which was created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. Producers are Konietzko, Dante Dimartino, Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger.
The Last Airbender is big business: the new live-action Netflix series around the globe has clocked an estimated 60M views. M. Night Shyamalan’s only franchise movie in his canon is the live-action take of the Nickelodeon show which grossed close to $320M worldwide.

Transformers One, is going now on Sept. 20 instead of Sept. 13.
The move gets Transformers One further away from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice which is going to eat up the September box office. However, already on this weekend is DreamWorks Animation/Universal’s Wild Robot. Two big animated movies are certainly not going to live on the same weekend.
The release date change also comes in the wake of the great reception that Transformers One received out of CinemaCon last week. Late September has been a rich bed for family animated movies including Hotel Transylvania 2 ($48.2M opening), Hotel Transylvania ($42.5M opening) and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs ($34M opening).
Transformers One is among one of Paramount’s highest tested movies in the studio’s history.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has seen a resurgence in its popularity thanks to its recent live-action Netflix adaptation. The iconic animated series is a beloved piece of media and the story of Aang and his friends has resonated with fans over the years. Therefore, it might surprise some to learn that Nickelodeon canned a continuation film focusing on Aang.
A still from Avatar: The Last Airbender
The series aired on Nickelodeon for the entirety of its run and was followed up by the spin-off The Legend of Korra. However, the makers initially had planned a continuation of the original series in the form of an animated film. Here is why Nickelodeon could have hit the jackpot had they refrained from shutting down the plans for an Avatar: The Last Airbender film continuation.

Paramount’s movie slate for the upcoming year included the earlier announced film from Avatar: The Last Airbender animated universe. With the working title of Aang: The Last Airbender, the film’s voice cast will be led by Dave Bautista and Eric Nam. Nam is set to play the titular role of Aang, meaning that Zach Tyler Eisen will not be returning to his iconic voice role. While it came as no surprise, fans are largely disappointed over the recasting of Aang in the new animated movie.

Avatar: The Last Airbender has become somewhat of a hot topic lately. After the wildly successful Nickelodeon TV show took the world by storm, there was a disastrous attempt to create a live-action movie in the past. But more recently, Netflix tried and was in fact successful in bringing Aang and the gang into the live-action world through their latest series.
Now, Paramount, along with Nickelodeon, are taking a stab at it to make a successful movie adaptation of the popular cartoon. The cast was recently announced, and the choice of Eric Nam to voice the adult version of the lead character isn’t sitting right with many people.

As part of its big CinemaCon Presentation this year, Paramount let loose a barrage of animated movie news, not the least of which was word that Dave Bautista and Eric Nam are aboard to lend their voices to what is currently titled Aang: The Last Airbender.

Alongside Bautista and Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Roman Zaragoza are in the voice cast, while original animated Airbender series veteran Lauren Montgomery is directing. What a time for "Avatar: The Last Airbender" fans to be alive. The Aang Gang was first immortalized in Nickelodeon's original animated series, one that practically altered the brain chemistry of countless kids of my generation and introduced us to the sheer potential of storytelling. Netflix most recently took advantage of the nostalgia and goodwill the show still enjoys, translating the tale of Aang's destiny as the Avatar and his war against the Fire Nation into a live-action retelling that quickly justified a second and third season. All that took place as a backdrop to the news first reported two years ago, of course, which indicated that Avatar Studios (headed by the creators of the original show, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino) was going all in on a trio of new animated movies set in the world of "Avatar."

AMC Networks has officially renewed its acclaimed series Dark Winds for a third season at AMC and AMC+, with a premiere date targeted for some time in early 2025. Debuting in 2022, Dark Winds returned for its second season earlier this year in July, concluding with the season finale in August. After streaming and airing on AMC+ and AMC, the first season of the show has since begun streaming on Max as part of a two-month programming pop-up of select AMC titles on the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer. The series is led by Zahn McClarnon, best known for roles on shows like Reservation Dogs, Westworld, Fargo, and Longmire, among others. Joining McClarnon among the show’s principal cast are costars Kiowa Gordon and Jessica Matten. (Credit: Michael Moriatis/AMC) The show follows the adventures of Lt. AMC announced today that they have renewed Dark Winds for a third season, just weeks after the second season of the crime drama wrapped.
Based on the Leaphorn & Chee novels by Tony Hillerman, Dark Winds takes place in the 1970s Southwest and follows two Navajo police officers, Leephorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Chee (Kiowa Gordon). The series was created by Graham Roland with John Wirth as showrunner. Roland and Wirth also serve as executive producers alongside Zahn McClarnon, Anne Hillerman, Chris Eyre, Vince Gerardis, Tina Elmo, George R.R. Martin, and Robert Redford.
“We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “From the beloved novels, to an incredibly collaborative producing team that includes Robert Redford, George R. Dark Winds will have another case to solve at AMC and AMC+.
The hit drama series has been renewed for Dark Winds Season 3.
A renewal was a no-brainer, with the cabler and its streaming sibling previously touting the show's continued success.
Dark Winds Season 2 averaged 1.7 million viewers during its first three days on the linear cable service.
Numbers for AMC+ have not been made available, but the network indicated that it had a strong footprint on the streaming service as the series aired.
Episodes were made available before their debuts on the service, so there was an incentive for fans to watch it earlier.
"We started this journey with very high hopes for this series, given the remarkable source material and extraordinary creative team behind it, and it has delivered on every level," said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks.

AMC is heading into more Dark Winds.
The cable network has renewed the crime drama for a third season, coming a couple of weeks after season two finished its run.
The series is planned to premiere in early 2025, a noticeable shift from the summer premiere of its first two seasons, but understandable given the writers and actors strike.
It comes after Dark Winds made its debut on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max service as part of a two-month pop-up.
Dark Winds stars Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon and Jessica Matten.
The first season of the series, which is produced by AMC Studios, drew 2.2M viewers on AMC for its June 2022 launch in Live+3 ratings. The company said that the second season averaged 1.7M viewers each week in Live+3, per Nielsen and saw “significant” viewership and acquisition gains from season one on AMC+.

This article contains spoilers for Dark Winds season 2.
The acclaimed AMC+ neo-noir series Dark Winds, created by Graham Roland and based on the Leaphorn & Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman, has just wrapped its second season. Going deeper, darker, and more violent than its inaugural season, Dark Winds places protagonist Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) on a more personal and grueling gauntlet that leads him to journey through his own heart of darkness. This isn’t to say that the second season is an introspective story, the season kicks off with a literal bang, but it does strike particularly closer to home for Leaphorn.
Drawing elements from Hillerman’s 1980 novel People of Darkness, the second season starts out with its two leads investigating different cases before inevitably bringing them back together. Introducing a new set of supporting characters, including a genuinely menacing antagonist in Colton Wolf (Nicholas Logan), things are deadlier...

Early in the new season of Dark Winds, a wealthy woman hires Jim Chee to help recover a lockbox that was stolen from her home. A skeptical Chee says that the job sounds simple, “Except nothing ever is.”
You definitely cannot call Dark Winds Season Two simple. It features a pair of mysteries that inevitably connect in complicated ways that can at times require intense concentration to follow. Just as importantly, the series is even more ambitious in its depiction of life, death, and policing on a Navajo reservation in the early Seventies.
