Having over twenty years of experience as a reality TV star, and appearing in a few movies doesn’t make you an actor in the books of internet and social media users.
Early last week, “Variety” shared a list of this year’s participants in their “Actors on Actors” interview on Instagram, and a particular name among the list didn’t sit well with netizens one bit.
When the list comprising of, Robert Downey Jr. and Jodie Foster, Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig, Quinta Brunson and Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Debicki and Emma Corrin, Joey King and Taylor Zakhar Perez, and finally, Kim Kardashian and Chloë Sevigny, was released, netizens made sure their mouths were empty of water when they shared their disagreement with Kim Kardashian’s name appearing among the list of actors.

Peter Dinklage became a force to be reckoned with at the Emmys during his tenure as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” with the actor winning four wins from eight nominations. The cast of “Game of Thrones” was so good, however, that many of them are still Emmys forces even after the show ended and they’ve moved on to different projects. Let’s take a look at the “Game of Thrones” alumni who could compete at this year’s Emmys.

Even at its inception in 2014, Peter Morgan’s “The Crown” was designed to be one of the most ambitious television projects of all time — and by the time it concluded last year, his vision for the show had proven to be monumental. Created for Netflix, and premiering in 2016, Morgan’s series depicted the life of Queen Elizabeth II from right before she became the monarch through the year 2005, when then-Prince Charles married the love of his life, Camilla Parker Bowles.
Its scope, in other words, was massive. The cast of “The Crown” rotated every two seasons, with Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton successively performing in the lead role, as the Queen faced a changing, roiled world — and a shrunken British empire. In more domestic matters, Elizabeth also had her own family both to love and contend with.

How does one embody one of the most influential and beloved figures of the modern era? How do you capture their essence without insulting their memory? For Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki, both of whom played Princess Diana at different ages on the Netflix television series “The Crown,” the answers to these questions laid in balancing practical preparation and research with their own personal empathy for who Diana was and what they felt was owed in portraying her. Speaking to one another for Variety’s Actors on Actors, Corrin and Debicki were given the chance to swap notes one playing the part, including how much research they were each given beforehand.
“It just landed in this big box outside my flat,” Debicki said. “The one thing that struck me about ‘The Crown’ was the machinery to help you prepare was so extensive and available. Should you wish to click on any of these boxes,...

Taking the next giant leap in its quest to produce original content, Netflix went on to receive widespread acclaim as well as continued spotlight for The Crown series. Revolving around the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II, depicting her reign from 1947 to 2005, the show brought back to focus the tumultuous times and hardships that come with being a working royal of the British throne.
The Peter Morgan brainchild also came across as the fuel for numerous debates with its exploration of a storyline arc involving Princess Diana.

Becoming the centerpiece of the narrative, the late royal found Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki as the two actresses responsible for maintaining her on-screen posthumous accuracy, showcasing different stages of her life. However, the senior actress of the two had almost lost out on hope of ever landing a role thanks to her counterpart.

For both Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki, the road to “The Crown” began with failed auditions. Each performer was up for a guest part in the Netflix series’ early seasons; both ended up playing Princess Diana at different ages. Corrin was Emmy-nominated for portraying the newly wed and then increasingly disillusioned princess in Season 4. Debicki, previously a nominee for Season 5, which centered on Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles, is eligible for a nomination this year for the show’s final season, in which Diana tragically dies in Paris. Corrin has springboarded off their “Crown” success into further risky and intriguing roles — this season playing the enigmatic and dogged sleuth Darby Hart on FX’s snowbound mystery “A Murder at the End of the World,” created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij.
Emma Corrin: We had a similar thing where you auditioned for a smaller role before.
Elizabeth Debicki: Yeah.

Maxine F*cking Minx has come to Hollywood, and she's determined to become the biggest star in Tinsel Town... by any means necessary.
The final film in Ti West's X trilogy, MaXXXine, is set to hit theaters exactly one month from today, and A24 has released a second full trailer spotlighting plenty of blood-soaked new footage.
In the first movie, X, Mia Goth's Maxine turned out to be the sole survivor of a crazed old woman's (also played by Goth) murderous rampage, and played a younger version of that character in recent prequel film, Pearl. In MaXXXine, the more determined-than-ever Miss Minx travels to LA with dreams of stardom, while a vicious serial killer known as the Night Stalker haunts the streets.
Here, we see more from supporting characters played by Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, and Kevin Bacon, along with some flashes of the murderer's brutal rampage.

Ti West's wildly enjoyable horror trilogy that began with "X" and continued with "Pearl" comes to a close with "MaXXXine," a bloody story set in 1980s Hollywood. When we last saw porn star Maxine Minx in "X," she had just survived a massacre that killed off the entire crew of the adult film she was starring in in 1979. Now it's the '80s, and Maxine hasn't given up her dreams of becoming a genuine movie star. But can she escape her dark past and deal with new malevolent forces, including a serial killer? We'll find out when "MaXXXine" arrives this July. For now, though, we have a stylish new trailer for the horror sequel. Watch it above.

The third and final installment in Ti West’s trilogy, A24 will be releasing X and Pearl follow-up MaXXXine in theaters July 5, and a brand new official trailer has arrived today.
Watch the new trailer for MaXXXine below, which cleverly begins with a faux trailer for the movie-within-a-movie, The Puritan II. From there it’s a lot of the same footage we’ve already seen, with Goth’s character being pursued in 1980s Hollywood by the Night Stalker. There’s a Giallo vibe throughout the trailer, with West slicing his knife into Hollywood this time around.
As Ti West explained a while back, “The way that X is a movie that is informed by and affected by independent exploitation auteur Americana and 1970s cinema, and Pearl is perhaps affected by the Golden Age of Hollywood and the glitz and glamor of cinema, MaXXXine will be more about within the industry...

“MaXXXine” is entering the spotlight a little earlier than expected, thanks to a fluffer of a film sneak peek.
IndieWire can exclusively announce that A24 will be re-releasing Ti West’s franchise starter “X” for one night only in theaters on June 18. Audiences will also get a preview of “MaXXXine” with a post-credit preview.
Ti West’s “X” is set in 1979, with a group of young filmmakers directing and starring in an adult film in rural Texas. Yet when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives, and a slasher ensues. It comes as no surprise that many classic TV shows and movies are making a comeback these days. While many people are still on the fence about remakes and revivals, as they tend to be worse than the originals, there are some gems that become fan favorites in no time. The second installment of The Night Manager could be another addition to that list.
Back in 2016, the show blew everyone away with its sharp writing and fast pacing. However, the 6-episode effort ended after one season and wasn't picked up to return. That was until the 2024 news of a comeback with another two seasons. And the second season already seems to be as great as anything we have seen before.

Apple TV’s flagship series “The Morning Show” returned last fall with its third season and with it comes the show’s best cast to date. Nicole Beharie, Jon Hamm, Tig Notaro, and Stephen Fry all joined the cast while mainstays Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup all turned in their best work yet.
However, it’s the show’s supporting players, who have been here since day one, that makes the series so good. Karen Pittman is a prime example of that. The series depicts the behind-the-scenes drama of a US morning TV show and Pittman plays Mia Jordan, a key producer of said show. Pittman has always been an actress who possesses a powerful screen presence and that is true here, too. She captivates audiences (and the other actors) but also smartly sews vulnerability into a character who has some power in the show.

It’s two weeks after Elizabeth Debicki attended the Met Gala. She’s now in Los Angeles for Emmy campaigning for her work as Princess Diana on “The Crown.”
I meet her Netflix’s FYC pop-up in Hollywood for quick chat before she takes part in a panel discussion with “The Crown” creator Peter Morgan. We grab a couple of seats in the “Ripley” room. “I’m bummed I couldn’t be in it,” Debicki says of the streamer’s adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel, “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” “Not that anyone asked.”
But then she suddenly remembers the Met Gala. “I sat in between Jude Law and Matt Damon,” Debicki says. “At that point, one margarita in, I thought, “Oh, my God. I’m in a Ripley sandwich.”
She did not, however, share her thought with the original “Ripley” actors.

The line-up for the new series of Variety’s Actors On Actors has been revealed, with high profile movie performers interviewing each other.
Variety’s Actors On Actors is one of the most delightful series you can watch as a film fan. The central conceit is that two actors sit down for a natter about their work, often going off on tangents, acting as a unique insight into the industry.
Generally, the pairings are quite surprising, with the actors concerned often never having worked together and, in some cases, seeming quite random, but each one is fascinating and, usually, an absolute hoot. You can see Kate Winslet shooting the breeze with Gary Oldman, for example, or Beanie Feldstein with Florence Pugh – we are still waiting for Jason Statham to make an appearence.

Last month, Prime Video and the BBC officially announced that they are moving forward with two more seasons of the series The Night Manager, with Tom Hiddleston remaining in the lead role. Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we reassess drama, now with “Shōgun.”
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s Friday and we went from having no clear frontrunner in the Best Drama Series category to what seems like a runway favorite. Last week, FX finally announced “Shōgun” will compete as a drama series as two additional seasons are being planned for… sometime in the future. Good for Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo and producer and star Hiroyuki Sanada. Not only will they get paid for spearheading the year’s one real breakout show not named “Baby Reindeer,” but they’re also more likely than ever to win Emmys for their work. Or maybe they were always going to win. Regardless! It didn’t take me long to...

Fresh from his appearance in mega-buzzy Cannes competition entry ‘The Substance,’ Dennis Quaid is now set to join Zazie Beetz and Elizabeth Debicki in another wild-sounding project, “This Blue is Mine.”
First announced by Variety ahead of the festival and being launched in the market by HanWay and UTA, “This Blue is Mine” is described as an “original, sexy sci-fi drama,” and marks the English-language debut of Brazilian-born director Iuli Gerbase.
The story is set amidst a family holiday at a tropical resort, where Arthur (Quaid), a guilt-free bon viveur, surprises everyone by bringing his new beautiful and enigmatic girlfriend, Ivy (Debicki). Ivy’s arrival and her odd behavior throws the already delicate dynamics off balance with Arthur and his daughters. Connie (Beetz) is still recovering from the trauma of a recent miscarriage and her older half-sister Laura can be a bit suffocating in her efforts to support her. One evening,...

“Shōgun” is causing a lotta drama — in our Emmy predictions. Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss our updated “Shōgun”-heavy drama picks and “Shōgun”-less limited picks. Plus: Our guest category predictions!
With second and third seasons of “Shōgun” in development, the FX series must compete in drama now instead of limited at the Emmys. The acclaimed epic definitely fortifies the previously weak drama field and became an automatic frontrunner (it’s still in second in the odds behind “The Crown”). With second and third seasons of “Shōgun” in development, the FX series must compete in drama now instead of limited at the Emmys. The acclaimed epic definitely fortifies the previously weak drama field and became an automatic frontrunner (it’s still in second in the odds behind “The Crown”). How many statuettes can and will it win in drama? Can supporting favorites Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) and Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show”) hold off “Shōgun” fan faves Moeka Hoshi and Tadanobu Asano?

“The Crown” can only play a pair of Queens at the Emmys.
Emmy winner Olivia Colman, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth in the series finale episode of Netflix’s monarchy drama, is not eligible to submit in the guest drama actress race by only a few seconds. However, her co-star Claire Foy, who also portrays Her Majesty in her younger years and appears in the same episode, is eligible and will be the sole guest submission for the series, angling for her second win in the category.
The “Sleep, Dearie Sleep,” written by Peter Morgan and directed by Stephen Daldry, clocks in at a robust 72 minutes, the longest of any episode across its six seasons. In the series’ final moments, Imelda Staunton’s Elizabeth looks back on the highs and lows of her reign as she grapples with the idea of handing the crown to Charles. Her younger self appears to...

If you’re not caught up on your peak TV viewing, consider this your spoiler warning. Four months have passed since Jennifer Coolidge bagged her second consecutive Emmy for “The White Lotus” and thus became the eighth drama or comedy series regular honored by the TV academy for a season in which her character died. Emmy nominations of this kind have become quite common in recent years, and it’s possible that over 15% of the 2024 lead and supporting continuing series contenders will be added to the list.
The current consensus among more than 2,400 Gold Derby users is that five continuing series performers whose characters perished within the past year will receive Emmy nominations, while a few others have outside shots at recognition. This does not include characters like Anakin Skywalker who died before their shows’ latest seasons began but appear as ghosts or in flashbacks. Undead characters like most of...

Production on MaXXXine, the sequel to director Ti West‘s films Pearl (watch it Here) and X (watch that one at This Link), wrapped way back in May of 2023, and just last month we heard that it has earned an R rating for strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use as it heads toward its July 5th theatrical release date. With that date swiftly approaching, a poster for MaXXXine has arrived online, sporting the warning that “Hollywood is a killer.” You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Outbreak Park: "Lethal Comics and Holy Crow Press present Outbreak Park! The Walking Dead meets Jurassic Park! Writer Allan Amato and artist Andy Belanger bring you their startling vision of a post-post apocalyptic world. Humanity exists in vastly smaller numbers, within fortified enclaves mirroring the early city-states of ancient Greece. While a vaccine inoculating humans against a bite has been created, most of the planet is still subject to roving herds of undead. And equally frightening anarchist wellness Men’s groups..
In New Alhambra, Outbreak Park is built to further research into the undead phenomenon, using docile zombies as teaching tools for the children growing up in the new republic. Lest the near extinction of humanity ever be forgotten, and repeated.
But while humanity is slowly clawing it way back from the brink, underneath the veneer of civilization lies a fervent minority plotting against the yoke; religious zealots that insist...

Ti West is channeling Paul Schrader for his trilogy ender “MaXXXine.” Oh, and “The Terminator.”
Writer/director West told Total Film that the 1985 Hollywood-set horror film is just as “hardcore” as Schrader’s filmography, with high concept tie-ins of “The Terminator” and “Vice Squad.” Plus, of course, what “X” film is complete without a hint of giallo?
“It’s poppy, but still grounded in more of a grittier ’80s than a shopping-mall ’80s,” West described his film. “You’re seeing the glamorous side of the movie business and the seedy side of Hollywood.”
West said “MaXXXine” has “a ‘Terminator’-like aesthetic to a Paul Schrader hardcore thing to ‘Vice Squad’ to giallo,” all mixed together.
“MaXXXine” is one of IndieWire’s most anticipated films of 2024, with Mia Goth reprising the role of adult-film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx for the latest franchise installment. Goth previously played Maxine in “X...
