Four secretaries of state are speaking out about the threats they receive regularly simply for doing their jobs, thanks in large part to election denialism perpetuated by Donald Trump and members of the Republican Party.
“Threats against elections officials in the United States of America is domestic terrorism. Terrorism is defined as a threat or violence for a political outcome. That’s what this is,” Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes said on Meet the Press. He spoke as part of a panel of four secretaries of state who appeared on the show Sunday.

Recently launched media institute Agog is the latest organization to recognize Xr (extended reality technology including VR) as a tool for empathy and an accelerator for social change.
Co-founded by climate journalist Chip Giller and Wendy Schmidt, philanthropist, investor and Schmidt Family Foundation president, the new initiative will act as a hub, plugging producers into the non-profit sector, supporting Xr creators and educational projects, and acting on the same beliefs that have animated much of this year’s NewImages presentations – that new media exposure might play a seismic role in shaping the wider world.
“We’re at a crisis moment where facts might reinforce, but they don’t always persuade,” Giller tells Variety. “We need new forms of storytelling that can connect with people viscerally and emotionally, and immersive does just that. Feeling can be believing, and feeling can change hearts before ultimately shifting minds.”

The second episode of 3 Body Problem shows Ye Wenjie’s journey as she develops contempt for humankind and its inherently invasive nature. As she sends a message of invitation to an unknown alien species to conquer the planet, the plot finally reveals one of the major themes of the series. The mysterious events happening on Earth are indeed associated with an extraterrestrial entity. Because of the revelation of an alien presence, it finally makes sense why Auggie was plagued with hallucinations of the countdown, and as soon as she puts an end to her research, the image disappears. Jin, on the other hand, explores the game inside the VR headgear. The NPCs inside the game inform Jin of her mission to help the civilization survive an apocalypse during the chaotic period of the planet. It seems the game is invite-only, and when Jack puts on the headgear, an AI beheads him in the game.

Exclusive: Mozhan Navabi (The Blacklist) has been cast in the Netflix limited series Zero Day in a recurring role portraying Melissa Kornblau.
From creators and executive producers Eric Newman (Narcos), Noah Oppenheim (Jackie) and Michael Schmidt, Zero Day asks the question: How do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our imagining?
At the center of the narrative is Mullen (Robert De Niro), a popular but complicated figure who is yanked back from retirement to head up a commission investigating a global cyberattack.
The show also stars Angela Bassett, Dan Stevens, Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, McKinley Belcher III, Gaby Hoffman, Clark Gregg, Mark Ivanir, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen and Connie Britton.

It is tempting to paint Damo Suzuki, the singer for legendary krautrock band Can, as some sort of musical shaman. And frankly, the video footage that exists of him makes it easy to do so. There is a film by Peter Przygodda that captures the German group at Cologne’s Sporthalle in 1972. At one point, a man arrives on stage to juggle three umbrellas — each a different color — and while a spotlight shines on the entertainer, Suzuki has the most magnetic presence in the room. Dressed in all red, he...

The Queens-based MoMI is curating a special Payne retrospective, culminating in a screening of “The Holdovers” with Payne in attendance on January 10. Holiday episodes are always a treat when watching sitcoms – it gives viewers the opportunity to see how their favorite characters handle the unique stressors of the season. New Girl didn’t quite have a Thanksgiving episode every year of its seven season run, but the five episodes that the show produced are truly some of the series’ best.
With moments like Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) Bangsgiving, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) trying to “Parent Trap” her divorced parents, and the crew discovering a dead body, it’s hard to choose which episode tops the others, and yet that’s exactly what we’ve done. Here are all of the New Girl Thanksgiving episodes ranked.
5. “Thanksgiving”

Pop quiz hot shot: What’s the best franchise movie crossover of all time? Alien vs. Predator? Freddy vs. Jason? Maybe Godzilla vs. Kong? Whatever your answer is, how do you think that movie would stack up against a potential Men in Black and 21 Jump Street crossover? Do you think fusing a deadpan comedic Sci-Fi story with the irreverent over-the-top humor of a buddy cop movie would actually work well together and become an all-time great movie mash-up? We’re about to find out when we peel the lid back and discover once and for all…Wtf Happened to this unmade Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover movie?!?
Now, y’all remember that infamous Sony email hack that went down in November of 2014? Well, among the many pieces of news revealed during the data breach was Sony Pictures’ plans to potentially turn 23 Jump Street into a Men in Black franchise crossover event.

If you've missed Law & Order: Svu, this is the ideal All Rise episode to watch.
It felt like a classic episode where the lines were gray, and the trial was complicated.
Emily defended a woman charged with attacking her rapist on All Rise Season 3 Episode 18. While many victims have had similar urges to go after their attacker, is it revenge or is it justice? That's tricky, legally.
It's difficult not to empathize with Darlene. Dr. Vasquez, her boss, was acquitted of raping her, so she decided to take vengeance into her own hands.
Darlene: I needed to show him he couldn’t get away with what he did to me, no matter what the jury said. I don’t trust juries.
Emily: You’ll have to move past that.
Permalink: You’ll have to move past that. Added: November 02, 2023
I'm surprised Emily didn't use the insanity plea, especially since Darlene struggled with reality.

Dean Phillips — liquor heir, gelato prince, step-grandson of the advice columnist Dear Abby, and Democratic congressman from Minnesota — is challenging Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination for president. Phillips filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday night.
Phillips will officially announce in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Friday, which is the deadline to appear on the primary ballot in the state. To call his candidacy a longshot is an understatement, but Phillips has a good shot of winning the Democratic primary in New Hampshire — because Biden will not appear on the ballot.

There's a very good chance you didn't even know Peter Dinklage had kids, let alone how many children he has. The Emmy-winning actor and his wife, theater director Erica Schmidt, have two children, but they're extremely private about their family, to the point that they've never even publicly discussed their children's names!
Peter Dinklage's Oldest Daughter
Dinklage and Schmidt's daughter was born in 2011, according to Entertainment Weekly. Aside from that, though, pretty much nothing is known about her. Perhaps because of that air of mystery - and the fact that she was born right as "Game of Thrones" turned Dinklage from a character actor to an internationally famous household name - there have been a few odd rumors about her over the years. One such funny rumor: at one point, there were incorrect reports that she was named Zelig. "I don't care!" Dinklage told The Guardian in 2015 when asked...

The role of retired CIA operative Luke Brunner in Netflix’s Fubar is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “first TV role ever” in the same way that this is my first McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Hobnob of the day – it absolutely isn’t but if it makes us all happier to lie to ourselves then why not?
Early press for action-comedy series Fubar has made much of the coup of Netflix bagging Schwarzenegger for television. At last! The Governator is “set to make his TV series debut” says The Hollywood Reporter. This marks the action icon’s “first ever television series”, says Collider. He lives on a quiet street in suburban Pittsburgh where everybody seems to know each other and where you need a parking permit in your window to park your car, otherwise somebody (Otto) will notice. The band has a new home: Girls5eva is moving to Netflix from rival streamer Peacock for its third season.
The move is a shock as it’s one of the first original series to move between rival streaming services but Deadline hears that the Tina Fey-produced series was actually canceled at Peacock before Netflix swooped in to save it.
Although the comedy series, which stars Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell, has been well received critically and was arguably the closest thing to an awards contender that the streamer had, Girls5eva wasn’t one of its most-watched shows and didn’t bring in the same audiences that the likes of dramas Bel Air and Dr. Death did.
We hear that the streamer was forced to make the tough decision to prioritize other shows and cancel it after its second season finished in June.

Lifetime has a long history of mining real-life crime stories for ripped-from-the-headlines TV movies. But social media users are slamming the cable network for dramatizing the recent murder of Gabby Petito in the movie The Gabby Petito Story, which premieres tonight, Saturday, October 1, at 8/7c. And now Nicole Schmidt, Petito’s mother, is addressing the small-screen take on her daughter’s death. “We thought our followers should know that the Lifetime movie on Gabby Petito has no connection to the Petito family nor did they give their approval,” Schmidt said in a statement released by The Aware Foundation, according to Newsweek. “Lifetime took it upon themselves to make the movie.” The film “explores Gabby and her fiancé Brian Laundrie’s complicated relationship and what may have gone wrong during their cross-country trip that resulted in Gabby’s tragic murder,” Lifetime says. “As the one-year anniversary of her tragic death approaches,...
