Review: When AppleTV+ launched in November 2019, See was one of the marquee series that premiered with it. With the added twist that the post-apocalyptic series existed in a world without sight, Steven Knight’s epic show would have a unique twist to set it apart. After a slow-paced first season, See came back with an improved sophomore season that benefited from...

“Season 1 gave audiences a taste of the characters and backstory of an upscale New York restaurant, leaving them wanting more – which we will deliver with a second helping of ‘Sweetbitter,'” Starz chief Chris Albrecht told TheWrap. “The immersion of the audience into the world in and around the restaurant will deepen as the series looks further into the complexities of Tess’ awakening and the lives of her new friends and colleagues in the second season.”
Based on the national bestselling novel of the same name by Stephanie Danler, “Sweetbitter” stars Ella Purnell, Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald, Evan Jonigkeit, Eden Epstein, Jasmine Mathews, Daniyar and Paul Sparks.

At the risk of stating the obvious, television caters to two senses: sight and sound. Starz’s “Sweetbitter,” about a young woman’s beginnings in the restaurant industry, wants to also focus on taste. The series uses creative visuals to try and conjure up taste memories in viewers, and the phrase “sweet, sour, salty, bitter” becomes something of a mantra in the second episode. Based on the novel by Stephanie Danler (who also serves as an executive producer and writer), “Sweetbitter” follows 22-year-old Tess (Ella Purnell) after she spontaneously moves to New York City, alone and without a real plan. Despite being an English major and only having experience in a small coffee shop, she snags a trial basis job training to be a backwaitress at a prestigious Manhattan restaurant. From there,...
