First theatrical feature film of actress Susan Saint James for just under a decade (or ten years) when she had last appeared in three of them in 1968.
Kris Kristofferson was offered the lead male role of Bobby Ogden but he turned it down to do Convoy (1978). The part in the end was cast with actor Peter Fonda.
The mugshot identification photo plate of Bobby Ogden (Peter Fonda) shows his date of birth as 23rd February 1946. Fonda's date of birth in real life is 23rd February 1940. The age difference here is six years with the two dates having the same month of the year and the same day of the month.
Star Peter Fonda said of this film in his autobiography 'Don't Tell Dad: A Memoir' (1998): "Working with Susan Saint James was fun . . . We developed moments for our scenes and didn't tell the director, who loved the way we filled them. Lots of chase scenes in boats and on motorcycles. Great toys. The stunts were very well done, and once again I got to do most of mine. So did Susan."
This movie was first released in wide distribution in the USA one day before the passing away of Elvis Presley on 15th August 1977.
