Not to be confused with the 1986 Gary Paulsen novel that was on your fifth-grade reading list, Adam Green's 2007 slasher "Hatchet" was intended to be an homage to the plentiful stalk-and-kill movies from the 1980s. The first "Hatchet" takes place deep in the swamps of Louisana where feckless city-dwellers get lost while taking a swamp tour. They trade stories of Victor Crowley, a local kid with facial differences who, years ago, was trapped in a burning house set ablaze by prankster teens. Crowley was accidentally killed by his father when he recklessly used a hatchet to free him from the fire. Victor's spirit is now said to haunt the swamp and murder interlopers. Of course, Victor will appear to start the predicted murders.
Victor Crowley was played by stuntman Kane Hodder, perhaps best known for playing the masked killer Jason Voorhees in "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood,...

Captain Sig Hanson made some decisions about his 18-year-old daughter, Mandy Hanson that angered his crew. Furthermore, rough weather conditions made things uncomfortable for the Deadliest Catch crew as they hauled in the crabs in the stormy Bering Sea.
Discovery Channel’s Captain Sig Hanson Has A Hardworking Crew
Some people don’t like the direction that the Discovery show takes at the moment. And, it doesn’t seem to be about the fact that more women are at sea. Actually, it’s about them not pulling their weight. Viewers are already familiar with Sophia Nielsen on F/V Victory. In Mandy’s case, it’s more about her boss-dad favoring her. Naturally, it’s a hard and dangerous job, and the crew doesn’t like to go shorthanded.

A Critical Look at “Don’t Worry Darling”: What are the plot holes? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
“Don’t Worry Darling” takes audiences on a suspenseful journey set against the idyllic 1950s backdrop, introducing us to Victory residents Alice and Jack. However, as the film unfolds, it grapples with mixed reviews and leaves viewers with a myriad of unanswered questions. From plot holes to the mechanics of the simulated reality, the film’s open-ended conclusion prompts a closer examination of its narrative choices.
The Simulated Reality:
The film’s central twist reveals Victory as an elaborate simulation where husbands immerse their wives in virtual reality. However, the movie falls short in addressing crucial details, such as the mechanics of eating, pregnancy, and living arrangements within the simulation. The lack of clarity surrounding these aspects leaves the audience grappling with inconsistencies, hindering the overall coherence of the narrative.

Copland was supposed to be Sylvester Stallone’s comeback movie. Despite earning decent box office and generating Sly’s best reviews in decades, it seemed to be the final nail in his coffin as a leading man, and I don’t understand why. Before Copland, Stallone was headlining huge action movies like Daylight and Judge Dredd, and while they underperformed domestically and overseas, they were still big. One would think that Stallone would have been given an old-school action film to revive his career, but all of a sudden, he was slotted into cheap movies, such as the slasher thriller D-tox, which is also called Eye See You. That movie was so bad that it went direct-to-video, which pretty much meant the end of Stallone’s career for half a dozen years until he managed a major comeback with Rocky Balboa. It would get pretty dire for Sly, but Warner Bros...

Back when the mischief incarnate Norse god Loki was introduced as one of the chief antagonists in Thor, and later went on to become the genocidal maniac in The Avengers, no one could have assumed that his character might go through the most uniquely written arc the MCU has managed to produce so far. Thanks to the space allowed during the span of the Disney+ series of the same name, Loki went on to become a fan favorite, a relatable element of chaos, a symbol of change and the flow of life itself, and the introspective, humane approach to the character taken by the showrunners is responsible for that. The fifth episode of the second season of the series “Science/Fiction” respects the approach by once again wielding Loki’s humanity as the fulcrum of the narrative, which drives the overarching plot of Tva’s multiverse crisis forward.

It’s easy to find sport-specific lists of movies online. From Bodog’s list of the top 5 legendary basketball films — which puts the gritty and ageless White Men Can’t Jump at its #1 spot, and we couldn’t possibly agree more—To others that also cover films, it’s not rare to get a lowdown on the best or the most popular films in a particular sport.
Then there are also perennial lists for sports on film review websites, like Rotten Tomatoes’ list of 30 essential football films, and overall sports lists like IMDb’s all-time highest-rated sports films that can also include films not primarily sports-based. But what is generally lacking is the list of the best films in a select few sports, ones that are the most popular in the UK. Today, we’re going to make that list for you!

This post contains spoilers for the season 3 finale of "Ted Lasso."
"Ted Lasso" was adept at delivering the thrills of a sports drama, with the fall and rise of an underground English football team, while also telling a beautiful story about community, mental health, self-improvement, and being open about emotions.
After three seasons, "Ted Lasso" is seemingly, apparently, as far as we know, done and over. After two very strong seasons, the final season was a very mixed bag, with a lack of focus thanks to longer episodes that dragged on, a sermon-of-the-week format that seemed to take away from the joy of earlier seasons, and a misguided football story that was too obsessed with winning — until it wasn't.
This is (kind of) a football show, of course, meaning the characters' careers and stories carry on after the end of the finale. We know Ted Lasso's career at AFC Richmond is over,...

Los Angeles, CA – The leading publishing industry trade, Publishers Weekly, has selected Tokyopop for the top spot on the latest edition of Fast-Growing Independent Publishers. According to the Pw article, the manga and graphic novel brand's sales in 2022 doubled over 2021, and were up 580% from 2020.
The article notes that Tokyopop's impressive performance has been due to the overall surge in demand for manga. The boom has led longtime Tokyopop accounts like bookstores, libraries, and comic shops to increase their manga footprint, while allowing the publisher to add key new retailer partners such as Walmart and Hot Topic.
Tokyopop also expanded its global retail reach though digital initiatives and developed more subscription partnerships. In addition, in January 2021, it moved its trade distribution from Diamond to Independent Publishers Group.
The publisher's new title count, which includes books as well as single-issue comics, rose from 45 in 2020 to 61 last year, as Tokyopop focused on signing...

The pop-rock trio Paramore have been responsible for some of the best music of the 2000s, 2010s, and now 2020s, and is one of the most prevalent female-led rock bands of modern times. Through 15 years, the band has notched its fair share of hits, including the 2013 smash “Ain’t It Fun,” which is not only one of the band’s best known songs — and their highest peaking song on the Billboard Hot 100 — but also holds a special place in history as the band’s first Grammy Award win.
Despite their success, the Grammys never went all in on Paramore. Their first nomination was for Best New Artist in 2008, which they (understandably) lost to Amy Winehouse. “Decode,” their song for the movie “Twilight,” earned them their second nomination, this time for Best Song Written for Visual Media. A year later the band earned a third nom, in the category of Best...

Taking Toei
Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund (Pif) has increased its stake in Japanese film and TV studio Toei Company, from 5% to 6.03%, according to a report by the Reuters financial news agency. The move comes shortly after Toei published a ten-year plan for international expansion.
Toei includes film and TV production operations, the T-Joy cinema chain and Toei Animation. Last month, it said that it had beaten its film revenue record, thanks to the success of titles including “The First Slam Dunk,” “The Legend of Butterfly” and “One Piece Film Red.”
The stake increase also follows Pif’s February announcement that it had increased its stake in Japanese games and console maker Nintendo to 8.26% and that (along with the Singapore state fund Gic) was a buyer of a $966 million bond issue from Korean entertainment-tech firm Kakao Corp.

One of the most fascinating elements of Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky" series is how each movie is a reflection of where the star was at that moment in his career. Over the course of eight films (including the two "Creed" movies in which he appeared), Stallone is critically examining his success, be it skyrocketing to ludicrous extremes (in "Rocky III") or direly on the wane (in "Rocky V"). Though his private life is another, far more complicated matter, it's rare to see a massive celebrity wrestle so honestly with his public persona. He's leveling with us because he knows how much we love The Italian Stallion. You're rooting for both Stallone and Rocky to come out on top every time. Well, almost every time.
This is a lesson Sly learned in the immediate wake of "Rocky." There's no more emphatic validation of one's artistic vision than delivering the year's top-grossing...

Can Florence Pugh make anything worth watching? This latest effort from Olivia Wilde, which screened at Venice, puts that to the test. Essentially an update of The Stepford Wives with none of the meatiness of the original or camp joie-de-vivre of the 2004 remake, it has three credited writers and gives the distinct impression of having been assembled by a committee.
Pugh plays Alice, a young woman who has recently moved to the ‘experimental community’ of Victory with husband Jack. Whilst he goes out to work five days a week, she cheerily cleans their house and chats to her neighbours, all women of a similar age with bright smiles and pretty dresses and never a hair out of place. They are not quite the demure dames of Stepford. They talk about sex, with...

Brazilian football legend Pelé passed away at the age of 82 on December 29, 2022. The sad news came less than two weeks after Lionel Messi held aloft the trophy at the Qatar 2022 Word Cup, eliminating any doubt that he deserves his place in the conversation about who is the greatest footballer of all time. Yet for some, the Emir's insistence on honoring the Argentine captain with the traditional bisht was an unwelcome reminder of the controversial venue for the tournament, while his compatriot Diego Maradona's legacy will always be tainted by the "Hand of God." Meanwhile, Pelé remains synonymous with the world's favorite sport at its most exuberant and uninhibited.Although it's been over 50 years since he last played for the Seleção, Pelé in the brilliant gold and blue of Brazil at the 1970 World Cup, embracing a teammate and punching the air with joy, is one of football's most iconic images.

Of all the awe-inspiring goals that can be scored in a soccer game — outside-the-box screamers, curling free kicks, cheeky chips, solo run stunners, even those that come off the Hand of God — none are as spectacular as the bicycle kick. The overhead acrobatic practically transcends the game itself, a feat so obviously insane and incredible that it can even amaze the kind of person that swears (incorrectly) that soccer is a snooze fest.

Pelé, the Brazilian national treasure who in the 1960s and ’70s made soccer popular in places on the planet that hadn’t yet embraced “the beautiful game” — in particular the U.S. — has died. He was 82.
An unequaled hero of futbol, Pelé died Thursday, his agent told the Associated Press, after he was hospitalized for the past month. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2021.
Pelé burst onto the international stage during the 1958 World Cup tournament, where he scored three goals in a semifinal match and two more in the final at the age of 17, capping a brilliant and emotional victory for the Brazil national team. He would win two more World Cup titles before joining the New York Cosmos in the North American Soccer League in 1975.

"Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" is set to introduce a whole new breed of Robot in Disguise. Instead of cars, trucks, or jets, these Transformers turn into beasts of all shapes and sizes. Known as the Maximals and Predacons, these animal transformers will soon be duking it out alongside their Autobot and Decepticon cousins.

The Real Housewives of Victory? Well, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast is ready to take on the cast of psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” in a new viral promo video. Amid a whopping 34 Rotten Tomatoes score and yet another premiere sans Florence Pugh for “Don’t Worry Darling,” here’s a spot that feels most certainly bought. Watch below.
Reminiscent of Nicole Kidman’s infamous AMC ad, the video starts with “Rhobh” stars Dorit Kemsley, Crystal Jung Minkoff, and Sutton Stracke sitting in a movie theater watching Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, and Chris Pine in Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling,” in theaters September 23.
“You guys, can we please talk about this film?” Kemsley says post-screening over cocktails. “I thought Florence Pugh’s character was this really capable, strong woman.”
Kemsley was a big fan of the casting, saying, “You could tell that Harry Styles was fully invested in his character.

Kemsley was a big fan of the casting, saying, “You could tell that Harry Styles was fully invested in his character.

Don’t Worry Darling is The Stepford Wives on acid with a shot of Busby Berkeley as a chaser. Whatever issues star Florence Pugh and director/co-star Olivia Wilde had off-screen, both absolutely nail it onscreen. Pugh pulls off a performance that legitimately earns the accolade of elevating material just by her presence.
Remember when women didn’t know better than to smoke like a chimney and drink like a fish while pregnant? Remember when women dressed to the nines just to stay home and dust? No? Neither do I. However, that’s the throwback world the characters inhabit when they’re introduced in Don’t Worry Darling.

Florence Pugh once again finds herself starring in a genre film where an idyllic community uses welcoming perfection as a veneer to hide more insidious secrets. Don’t Worry Darling sees Pugh as a doting ’50s housewife in a picturesque suburban community who quickly finds herself alone in realizing something’s deeply amiss. While the thriller boasts no shortage of visual style and pizzazz, it struggles to build tension or offer narrative surprises.
Don’t Worry Darling opens to a lively dinner party that introduces Alice (Pugh) and her husband Jack (Harry Styles), happy and content among close friends. Alice and Jack are childless by choice, a topic that occasionally surfaces among couples Bunny (director Olivia Wilde) and Bill (Nick Kroll) and the perpetually pregnant Peg (Kate Berlant) with husband Peter (Asif Ali). All live in the isolated town of Victory, part of the mysterious “Victory Project” headed by the elusive Frank...

Audiences can’t get enough of “Don’t Worry Darling.”
After the movie’s Venice Film Festival premiere, which sent the internet ablaze after Harry Styles may or may not have spit on his co-star Chris Pine and Florence Pugh avoided eye-contact with her director Olivia Wilde, the buzz around the Warner Bros. release is only escalating.
Imax’s live-event screening of “Don’t Worry Darling,” which includes a Q&a with the cast and director, has sold out in 21 locations. In less than 24 hours, more than 13,000 tickets have been purchased across 100 North American locations. Screenings in several markets, like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Seattle, are completely booked, while 15 additional locations are at least half full.
Per Imax, it’s selling tickets faster than the company’s other recent live events, including “Kanye West: Donda Experience,” “Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back” rooftop concert documentary and cast-attended screenings...
