- Texas billionaire J.J. Starbuck drives around the country in a 1961 Lincoln convertible, with horns on the hood, acting as a private detective solving crimes. He charms the police and anyone else in his way and never charges the victims anything for solving the crime. In 1988, he acquired an assistant, "Tenspeed" Turner, a con man who helps him out, often in a disguise.—J.E. McKillop <jmckillo@notes.cc.bellcore.com>
- J.J. Starbuck is a Texas billionaire, whose preoccupation with building his empire ignored his wife and son. Only when they died he realized his mistake. That's when he decided to put people ahead of business. Now he has an uncanny ability to sense when someone is lying, and these people commit a crime, usually a murder, and have covered their tracks, and the victims are someone who made a profound effect on J.J.'s life, or he feels that they didn't deserve to die. So J.J. does what he can to nail them. He also has the uncanny luck of crossing paths with people who need help, and he does what he can to help them. He is aided by his business manager, Charlie, and his niece, Jill. At mid season, the death of a friend brought him in contact with E.L. "Tenspeed" Turner, a con man, who somehow ended up working with him.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
