Singapore-based TV production firm, Beach House Pictures is expanding its Asian production capacity. It has acquired a majority stake in Japanese producer Vesuvius Pictures and appointed Felix Feng as Gm in China.

The working relationship between Tim Burton and Johnny Depp was almost symbiotic at one point, and there was a time when the Batman director barely made a movie without the presence of the actor who he first cast for just the second leading role of his career in 1990’s Edward Scissorhands.
Over the next twelve years, the eccentric duo would collaborate on a further seven feature films that covered everything from biographical comic drama Ed Wood to the billion dollar success of Alice in Wonderland via the lavish period musical Sweeney Todd. However, Burton and Depp haven’t worked together since Dark Shadows underwhelmed both critics and audiences eight years ago.
As soon as it was announced that cinema’s foremost purveyor of Gothic fantasy was working on an episodic reboot of The Addams Family, though, Depp’s name was obviously one of the first to come to mind as patriarch Gomez.

When a child grows up with famous parents, it means dealing with overly eager fans, and invasive reporters. But for Judy Spera, the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren, arguably the most well-known paranormal investigators ever, growing up with famous parents also meant dealing with dark forces, and one notoriously haunted doll.
Spera was an adult in her twenties by the time her parents gained mainstream attention for their work with the paranormal in the mid-70s. But before the Lindley Street Poltergeist case in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1974, or the Amityville Horror, and long before The Conjuring film franchise, Spera’s parents sold Ed’s artwork, and carved out a decent life for their daughter. Ed grew up in a haunted house, and Lorraine was a clairvoyant, and though they had explored unexplained phenomena for years, theirs was a normal existence compared to the talk show appearances, lectures across the globe,...

Happy Birthday to one of Wamg’s favorite movie stars! Pam’s iconic movie career began when she moved to Los Angeles in the late ‘60s from her native North Carolina at age 18. After a tiny role in Russ Meyer’s Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls (1970), she landed a job as a receptionist for American International Pictures where she was discovered by Jack Hill, an Aip director who cast her in a pair of women’s prison films: The Big Doll House (1971) and The Big Bird Cage (1972). Soon she was known as the “Queen of Blaxploitation” at a time when film roles for African-American women were, as Grier puts it, “practically invisible, or painfully stereotypical”.

Before we delve too deeply into the weeds, this viewer finds it imperative to make two big caveats. First, any finished movie, as Tfh Fearless Leader Joe Dante often preaches, is a bit of a miracle. Completing a project, especially a low-budget indie like Bride of the Monster (1955) that culled resources together from disparate backers and was at one point shut down three days into production due to a lack of funds, is a feat to be applauded. I am fully aware of that reality, even though I will take pains to explore the many shortcomings of this notoriously flawed cheapie chiller. Second, the actual protracted production of this picture, which was at one time to co-star Bela Lugosi and his fellow Universal monster luminaries Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr., is as compelling as the movie itself. So we’ll be touching on some behind-the-scenes morsels, too.

Julie Bowen will topline the CBS multi-camera comedy pilot “Raised by Wolves,” formerly titled “Please Hold for Frankie Wolfe.”
In the show, a very successful and fiercely independent crisis manager’s (Bowen) world is turned upside down when she decides to let someone into her life for the first time—an 11-year-old girl who she adopts and raises with the occasional help of her fragile, nervous wreck of a sister.
Bowen’s character, Frankie Wolfe, is described as a successful, totally put-together powerhouse whose aggressive, blunt-talking style belies the damage incurred by literally being raised by Wolfes (Barbara and Arnie).
The news comes as Bowen prepares to sign off of the critically-acclaimed ABC comedy “Modern Family,” which is about to conclude after 11 seasons on the network in April. Bowen won two Emmy Awards for best supporting actress in a comedy series for her work on the show in addition to directing two episodes.

As heavily predicted, Brad Pitt won Best Supporting Actor at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards for Quentin Tarantino‘s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and with it, he’s claimed two records.
Pitt, who took home this award for “12 Monkeys” (1995), is the sixth person to win this category a record two times. The 24-year spread between his twin wins is also the longest as none of the previous five had more than a decade between their bookend supporting Globes.
Here are the other two-time champs:
1. Richard Attenborough, “The Sand Pebbles” (1966) and “Doctor Dolittle” (1967)
2. Edmund Gwenn, “Miracle of 34th Street” (1947) and “Mister 880” (1950)
3. Martin Landau, “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” (1988) and “Ed Wood” (1994)
4. Edmond O’Brien, “The Barefoot Contessa” (1954) and “Seven Days in May” (1964)
5. Christoph Waltz, “Inglourious Basterds” (2009) and “Django Unchained” (2012)

Olivia Colman is 0-2 at the Emmys, but she has the reverse record at the Golden Globes: The Oscar winner has never lost a Globe race, winning for her supporting turn in the AMC limited series “The Night Manager” and earlier this year in Best Comedy/Musical Actress for “The Favourite.” And now she can extend that to a 3-for-3 record with a Best TV Drama Actress victory for “The Crown.”
The Brit would be in rarefied air should she maintain her flawless streak. While many actors have gone 2 for 2 at the Globes, including reigning TV drama actress winner Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), it’s much more difficult to bat 1000 at three-plus nominations for acting. Martin Landau managed to go 3 for 3, prevailing for the second season of “Mission: Impossible” in 1968 and then on the film side for his supporting performances in “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” (1988) and “Ed Wood...

The Golden Globes was the first major awards show to recognize Brad Pitt, giving him a Best Drama Actor nomination for “Legends of the Fall” (1994) and then awarding him Best Supporting Actor the next year for “12 Monkeys” (1995). Can the Donald help the peacock forget all about Rachel? This season, NBC has slumped 12% in the 18-49 demographic, more than any other Big Four network, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research. But the network is still clinging to first place in the demo despite the drop, and entertainment president Jeff Zucker said his shop is on the rebound after an admittedly rocky fall. The demo decline is "a little more than I would have expected, but I think we're going to make that up in the first quarter" of 2004, he said. "By the time the season ends, we're hardly going to be down year-to-year." One cornerstone of the midseason plan is The Apprentice, Survivor producer Mark Burnett's reality contest debuting next month, in which real estate mogul Donald Trump searches for a new lieutenant among a band of bright young hopefuls. NBC has given the series an 8 p.m. Wednesday berth, with the drama Ed moving to Fridays.

Kate Bosworth finally has her movie star crush and DreamWorks Pictures and director Robert Luketic have found an actor to play the title role in the romantic comedy Win a Date With Tad Hamilton!!! Soap star Josh Duhamel will play the title role of Tad Hamilton in the film, which Red Wagon Entertainment's Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing from a script by Vic Levin. The project sees Bosworth playing Rosalee, a small-town grocery store clerk who finds herself the winner of a contest that gets her out of West Virginia to Hollywood for a date with the hottest, most eligible movie star, played by Duhamel. Once in town, on what should be the typical publicity meet-and-greet, she finds herself in the middle of a love triangle with the movie hunk and her longtime best friend (Topher Grace), a fellow clerk who has been in love with Rosalee since the sixth grade. The casting of Duhamel last week gave the project a May start date as his role was the last major one to be filled. According to sources, the studio and the producers first went after such big-name actors as Ben Affleck, Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, James Franco and Heath Ledger to fill the key part before changing direction and getting a relative unknown like Duhamel. Red Wagon senior vp Matt Berenson and creative executive Pete Chiarelli brought the project to their company. At DreamWorks, the project is shepherded by production executive Marc Haimes. Duhamel is repped by the Gersh Agency and manager John Carrabino. His credits include All My Children and the NBC series Ed.

ABC's romance reality series The Bachelor proved its demo win over NBC's The West Wing last week was not a fluke with another time slot victory among adults 18-49. ABC controlled the demo race from 8-10 p.m., but NBC's powerhouse Law & Order single-handedly erased ABC's lead and gave NBC the nightly win in the coveted demographic. ABC's My Wife & Kids (13.6 million viewers, 5.2/15) at 8 p.m. and George Lopez (12.7 million, 5.2/14) at 8:30 p.m. topped the 8-9 p.m. hour in total viewers and adults 18-49, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. NBC's Ed (10.3 million, 3.3/9) and CBS' 60 Minutes II battled it out for second place. The Bachelor (12.5 million, 5.9/15) at 9 p.m. was down 8% from last week in 18-49, but still overcame easily The West Wing (15.8 million, 5.1/13) in the demo, while NBC's White House drama got the popular vote in total viewers. CBS' The Amazing Race kept steady at 9.2 million viewers and a 3.8/10.
