Does it get any more festive than snow in New York? I know many, many people have the lifelong dream of spending Christmas in the Big Apple and I have to admit that it is a dream that I also share! The closest I am probably ever going to get to this dream was the opening moments of the new Netflix original series Dash and Lily which involves a panning camera which showing the classic New York buildings complete with snow falling from the sky!
Dash and Lily follows all the conventions of your classic teenage ‘relatable’ series; for example the contrast between Dash who hates Christmas with a passion, against Lily who loves the festive period.

Warning: This article spoils the ending of Dash & Lily‘s first season. Haven’t watched? Grab a blanket and head over to Netflix. You’ll thank us later.
Between the iconic location (New York’s famed Strand Bookstore), the perfect time (New Year’s Eve at midnight) and the ludicrously romantic ambience (literal fireworks!), the final scene of Dash & Lily‘s first season finale is about as perfect as it could be. Is it any wonder why executive producer Joe Tracz says it’s his favorite page-to-screen moment in the Netflix series?

Another week, and another solid collection of content for Netflix, who’ve enjoyed recent success with the likes of The Queen’s Gambit and The Haunting of Bly Manor. The highlights for November 9th to 15th include the addition of topical films such as Fruitvale Station, the most recent season of American Horror Story, and new episodes of The Crown. Aside from all that, there are plenty of other Netflix originals and licensed titles to enjoy as we head deeper into November, too.
In terms of exclusive series, The Crown is undoubtedly the biggest new release for the streamer, and will be available on Sunday, November 15th. The fourth instalment of the period piece promises the arrival of Princess Diana, and what’s sure to be a memorable performance by Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.
Elsewhere, we have the second season of Dutch crime thriller Undercover, the Christmas-themed romance Dash & Lily,...

When Sunday morning rolls around and Halloween is officially in the rearview mirror, the focus is going to shift towards Christmas as pumpkins and skeletons get replaced by reindeer and Santas. Every year a wave of new movies are released to capitalize on people’s continued obsession with the festive season, even if very few of them manage to ascend to classic status.
The roster of holiday favorites has largely remained unchanged for decades bar the odd recent addition or two, but Netflix are doubling down on their Christmas content regardless, and the streaming service has a massive amount of seasonal movies and TV shows coming down the pipeline throughout November and December.

Lost alum Elizabeth Mitchell has found her latest gig, and it will take her to the Outer Banks.
The Netflix drama, which released its first season in April, follows a tight-knit group of local teens (aka the “Pogues”) at the titular beach vacation destination in North Carolina. A rare chance to see a small screen work from Palme d’Or-winning (and not only) director Hirokazu Koreeda is available this year at the BFI London Film Festival, with a teaser episode of the drama series “A Day-Off of Kasumi Arimura” (Arimura Kasumi No Satsuky). The 8-episode drama was released in Japan at the beginning of 2020 on Wowwow Channel and it features Kasumi Arimura, a busy and popular actress both in the script and in real life, although the narration is completely fictional. Director Koreeda has directed episode 1 and 3 of the series, while other episodes have different directors.
“A Day-Off of Kasumi Arimura” is screening at the BFI London Film Festival
It’s the onset of winter and seasonal cold is spreading; one of Kasumi’s fellow members of the cast is sick and the next day shooting is cancelled at the last minute. Kasumi has an unexpected day off then,...

We first encountered Austin Abrams a few years back at TIFF when he starred alongside Ben Stiller in Brad’s Status, and have been following his career ever since. He can now be seen in one of his biggest roles to date, taking on the lead role in romantic drama Chemical Hearts, alongside Lili Reinhart. Wo celebrate the launch of this title we spoke to Abrams via a Zoom call. Please forgive our old-fashioned back-drop, we were staying in a hotel in Kent.
Abrams tells us what attracted him to this project and whether he read the novel it’s based upon. He also spoke about working with Reinhart, and recounts his own high school experience. We also speak about what he learnt from his time collaborating with Stiller, and whether he too has any ambitions to step behind the lens one day and direct. Finally we discuss his role in the upcoming Netflix series,...
