With there being an overlap between wrestling fans and horror fans, it only made sense for WWE Studios to produce See No Evil. And much like The Rock’s Walking Tall and John Cena’s The Marine, this 2006 slasher was designed to jumpstart a popular wrestler’s crossover career; superstar Glenn “Kane” Jacobs stepped out of the ring and into a run-down hotel packed with easy prey. Director Gregory Dark and writer Dan Madigan delivered what the WWE had hoped to be the beginning of “a villain franchise in the vein of Jason, Freddy and Pinhead.” In hindsight, See No Evil and its unpunctual sequel failed to live up to expectations. Regardless of Jacob Goodnight’s inability to reach the heights of horror’s greatest icons, his films are not without their simple slasher pleasures.
See No Evil (previously titled Goodnight and Eye Scream Man) was a last gasp for a dying trend.

While the names Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan have been suplexed by controversy lately, it’s impossible to ignore how popular they had made the WWE, then WWF, back in the ’80s and ’90s. In 1989, the maniacal McMahon had a genius idea to make Hogan, already a megastar and the longtime world champion, even bigger. Let’s make him the biggest Hollywood actor, too! Enter No Holds Barred, Hulk Hogan’s first starring movie role and the first movie/wrestling crossover event ever! Oh, and did I mention it featured Friday favorite Tom “Tiny” Lister as the mega heel? Damn right. Let’s go!

Noah Rothman produces through Canopy Partners, with Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabriel producing via Signature Films.
“We are thrilled to partner with the producers and Dito on this project; we’ve loved it ever since we’ve read it. It embodies the type of crime comedies we grew up with – witty and entertaining.

Ghost have announced a new five-song covers EP titled Phantomime, featuring renditions of songs by Genesis, Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, Television, and The Stranglers. Just in time for Easter Sunday (April 9th), the Swedish metal band has unveiled its cover of Genesis’ “Jesus He Knows Me.”
Genesis’ original 1992 version of the song was a satirical look at televangelists, a subject matter right up Ghost’s alley. In addition to “Jesus He Knows Me,” the EP includes Papa Emeritus IV and company covering Television’s “See No Evil,” The Stranglers’ “Hanging Around,” Iron Maiden’s “Phantom of the Opera,” and Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome).” The EP is due out on May 18th.
Accompanying the music video for “Jesus He Knows Me” is a half-hour radio call-in show titled “Jesus Talk” hosted by “Father Jim DeFroque.

Exclusive: Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Archie Gips’ production company Unrealistic Ideas is teaming with producer Van Echeverri for a documentary feature about the FBI’s takedown of USC football player-turned-drug kingpin Owen Hanson.
“Unrealistic Ideas has a strong track record in the true-crime space, and the story of Owen Hanson jumped out at us,” said Unrealistic Ideas President/Partner Gips. “This is a working-class guy who worked hard to get into USC and then used the business skills he gained through his education there to create a global drug empire. We’re looking to explore how that happened and how it all fell apart.”
Hanson began dealing recreational drugs and steroids to teammates in college during the early 2000s, ultimately building a violent empire that operated in U.S., Central and South America and Australia. Arrested in September 2015 and sentenced in late 2017 to more than 21 years in federal prison,...

‘South Side’ Review: Chicago-Set Comedy Returns for a Season 2 with Dreams Even Bigger than the City
The season finale of the first season of “South Side” closed with a few friends in a basement, floating away into deep space. It would have been a bittersweet ending for the then-Comedy Central show if it had stopped there, a parting reminder of how big this collection of mismatched employees could go. Fortunately, after a two year hiatus, “South Side” is back — this time as an HBO Max original — and it’s not afraid to keep going galactic whenever it decides to.
Most of “South Side” still revolves around the employees of “Rent-t-Own,” a store that loans out everything from end tables to TVs to household appliances. In their downtime at work, Simon (Sultan Salahuddin) and Kareme (Kareme Young) are usually deep into some plan that will be their ticket to a new job, better conditions at their current one, or (as is the case with the show...

Monday marks the two-year anniversary of Daredevil being canceled by Netflix, meaning that the rights are widely expected to revert back to Marvel Studios as per the licensing agreement that was initially struck for the streaming service to develop a slate of projects based on the Defenders. And given that he’s the biggest name of the bunch in terms of popularity, the Man Without Fear has been the subject of constant speculation that he could become an integral part of Kevin Feige’s shared universe.
Daredevil was arguably the best of Netflix’s superhero shows, and was definitely positioned as the marquee title in the lineup, with fans launching several campaigns in an attempt to have it brought back for a fourth season. Of course, petitions rarely if ever succeed in their goals, but even the stars themselves were of the opinion that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen...

Following backlash to “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman’s recent remarks about the hit sitcom’s lack of diversity, Kauffman told TheWrap it was only in the last two weeks — amid the resurgence of #BlackLivesMatter protests in response to George Floyd’s killing at the hands of a police officer — that her eyes have been opened to how she perpetuated “systemic racism.”
“Look, I — and I’m going to try not to get emotional about this — the question that she asked is what do you wish you knew now as a showrunner? What do you wish you knew then that I know now. And what I have to say is, it’s something I learned in the past two weeks — and this is not just about ‘Friends,’ this is about my career — that I have not done enough to encourage black voices, to bring in black crew, to bring in black writers.

Out-of-town tryouts aren’t just for the theater world. There’s a rich tradition in rock, too, of taking to the road to test and strength unrecorded material, although the custom is on the ropes, obviously, in the YouTube era. Joe Jackson still believes in the process: For July , he tacked a 15-city mini-tour of secondary markets onto the tail end of two years of gigging, for a two-fold purpose, he explained during Sunday’s tour finale in Boise.
The short trek was to hit places he’d “rarely or never played before, here being the latter,” Jackson said shortly into a two-hour set at Idaho’s sold-out, 1,400-seat, sphinx-filled, 91-year-old Egyptian. “The other reason is to try out some new songs, as our next stop is the recording studio. Do you mind? … I figured it was only polite to ask, even though we’re gonna do them anyway.”

Sometimes, a show can really surprise you. Keep you guessing and speculating right to the end. NCIS Season 15 Episode 20 definitely made a valiant effort and very nearly stuck that landing.
For someone who's seen as many cop show episodes, I confess that I was honestly stumped for a good portion of the story. Not bad for the 350th installment of the series!
Yes, that's right. Three hundred and fifty episodes of NCIS! Congratulations all round. It's an exceptional accomplishment, to be sure, when so few series even make it to 100.
But back to the episode at hand.
I suspected early on that there was something suspicious going on with the sheriff, though likely not what most people would likely guess.
I was actually more confused as to why the Sheriff himself was out serving an arrest warrant! That's almost certainly going to be a job for a deputy. And he...

My grandma had Alzheimer’s Disease. In the years before she passed away, every time I visited her, she became less and less like the person I had come to know and love throughout my life. It was especially hard when she forgot who I was and who her kids were. She was still very sweet, though, and at times her true self would shine through.
Just in case you need a little recap of what Alzheimer's disease is, it's a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. One of my favorite actors of all time, Gene Wilder, suffered from this illness, and his widow, Karen Wilder, recently opened up about what it was like for her and Gene after he was diagnosed with it.
I know this is a geek site, but this was such a touching, candid, and heartfelt letter that I wanted to share.

Gene Wilder's widow, Karen Wilder, penned an emotional essay for ABC News about her late husband's battle with Alzheimer's disease. She praised ongoing efforts to fight the disease and also called for greater recognition of patient caregivers. Wilder died last August at 83.
In her essay, Karen Wilder noted that one in three seniors dies from Alzheimer's or another form of dementia, but the disease also takes a toll elsewhere. She cited a Stanford Medicine study that showed 40 percent of Alzheimer's caregivers die before their patient, "not from disease, but from the sheer physical,...
