Will Smith had one prediction for Eminem’s explosive growth in the Hip Hop world that came true. Smith listened to Eminem’s track, Just the Two of Us, from his Slim Shady EP and shared that the rapper would become the biggest thing in Hip Hop or the biggest flop. The crazy lyrics of the song somehow connected with the audience who hailed Eminem as a musical genius.

Known not only for the comedies, but also for the touching dramatical performances in such titles, as The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), Seven Pounds (2008) and Concussion (2015), Will Smith continues to make the world fall in love with his acting skills.
In the 2021 drama he managed to do it the best way possible that he even received his first Academy Award for Best Actor. Overall, despite the movie becoming a box office failure, it gained positive critical and public reviews, mostly for the actor’s work.
The synopsis of this movie seems to be clearly simple: a father wants his two daughters to succeed in sports, while everything around is presented like obstacles in their way. However, it’s not like you may think in the beginning, but something more than that.
First of all, Will Smith’s once-in-a-lifetime performance can be the main reason to give this sports drama a try.

Will Smith is indeed the jack of all trades in the entertainment industry. A music artist, a TV icon, a visionary film producer, and an Oscar-winning actor, he has done it all. The Men in Black actor’s career started back in the mid-1980s when he became part of a hip-hop duo with DJ Jazzy Jeff. However, his popularity skyrocketed when he was featured in the popular ’90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The show opened Smith’s door to stardom as he went on to embrace a wide variety of roles and starred in critically acclaimed dramas like The Pursuit of Happyness, Six Degrees of Separation, Ali, and many more. However, Will Smith threw all his fame and stardom away when he slapped Chris Rock, the presenter of the Best Documentary feature at 94th Academy Awards back in 2022, eventually derailing his career.

The 2024 Oscar nominees for Best Actor are Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”), Colman Domingo (“Rustin”), Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”), Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”), and Jeffrey Wright (“American Fiction”). Murphy (16/5) is favored to win by our odds, followed in order by Giamatti (18/5), Cooper (9/2), Wright (9/2), and Domingo (9/2).
Whereas last year’s lead male lineup was the first in almost nine decades to consist entirely of Oscars newcomers, this one includes three rookies and two general veterans. Standing alone in having already competed for this specific award is Cooper, who was previously recognized for “Silver Linings Playbook” (2013), “American Sniper” (2015), and “A Star Is Born” (2019). Since he personally helmed both “A Star Is Born” and “Maestro,” he is now the fourth person to direct himself to multiple acting nominations, following Laurence Olivier, Warren Beatty, and Clint Eastwood.

Oscar Snubs: 10 Actors Denied Their Worthy Oscar Best Actor and Best Actress Awards (In No Specific Order) Ethan Hawke
With four nominations and a league of amazing films under his belt, it is both a shame and a surprise that we haven’t seen an oscar in Ethan Hawke’s hands. Wearing many hats, Hawke is known for directing and writing alongside his acting career. My first introduction to Ethan Hawke was Reality Bites, also starring the intriguing Winona Ryder and Ben Stiller.
Quite a poignant film for these trying times, as the theme revolves around young adults trying to forge their path in a world where entry-level jobs are unpromising--even with a degree it seems bleak to find a respectable career coming out of college. Jaden Smith never fails to make headlines, whether it is because of his actor father’s Oscar antics or, sometimes, his own music or acting endeavors. But it is also true that the son of Will Smith experiences highs and lows in his romantic life.
Not to mention his standout performances in films like The Pursuit of Happiness and The Karate Kid. Smith was nominated for a Grammy Award, won an MTV Movie Award, and received a Teen Choice Award as a result of his work. Well, in addition to his successful career, his love life is frequently in the spotlight.
He has dated several known names, including Kylie Jenner, Cara Delevingne, and more. Since 2020, the actor, 25, is said to have been dating popular social media influencer Sab Zada. Let’s know more about her.

The great Martin Scorsese returned to the Eternal City, accompanied by the star of the moment, Lily Gladstone, as the guests of honor of a gala dinner at the Hotel Hassler by the Spanish steps Wednesday night. The event, honoring Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and hosted by co-chief of Leone Film Group, Raffaella Leone, daughter of great Italian film director Sergio Leone, and Paolo Del Brocco, head of Rai Cinema, the Italian distributor of Killers. Hot off the film’s 10 Oscar nominations, including a record-setting 10th best director nod for Scorsese and the historic best actress nod for Gladstone as the first Native American nominated in the category, the event was a must-attend for the Italian film scene.

Since the establishment of the Academy Awards in 1929, exactly 60 films have achieved lone lead male acting nominations, meaning they were each recognized in the Best Actor category and nowhere else. The last such instance occurred in 2023 and involved “Aftersun” star Paul Mescal, who, at 26, stood out as the youngest member of a lineup consisting only of first-time Oscar contenders. Although his low-budget movie had a strong shot at an original screenplay bid and was viewed as a serious Best Picture candidate, it ended up getting no love outside the acting branch.
Before Mescal was recognized, his category hadn’t seen a lone nominee since Willem Dafoe earned his first lead bid for “At Eternity’s Gate” in 2019. This was the ninth time that four or more years separated consecutive Best Actor loners, with the single largest gap having spread between Cary Grant and Clifton Webb. Such nominations appear to be becoming less common in this category,...

It’s always the father-son stories that get me. Bicycle Thieves, This Boy’s Life and The Pursuit of Happyness, to name a few. There are so many more. There is just something about them, and the ones I named are at the top of the list, if you know what I mean. Even the ones that are a little shoddy at times generate a lot of emotions in me, especially if they feature a conflict between a father and a son. Netflix’s Crypto Boy has a nice template for its story to work. The beats are there, and the film is shot very well.
Crypto Boy‘s plot revolves around Omar and Amir. There is a bit in the names as well. Amir, the only son of the widower Omar, has great ambition in him, not just to earn money but to ‘generate wealth’, a catchphrase heard at a convention related to cryptocurrency.

Near the top of the list of the most famous actors on Earth over the last four decades, sits Will Smith. Since his breakout in the 1990s, the multitalented star has conquered the music industry, television comedy with NBC’s “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” and blockbuster movies thanks to “Independence Day” and the “Bad Boys” and “Men in Black” franchises. In 2021, as Smith turned 53 years old, he also scored critical acclaim that has frequently eluded his grasp. His performance in “King Richard” as Richard Williams, father to Venus and Serena Williams, gave Smith the best reviews of his career and a Best Actor trophy at the Oscars.
His successes wherever he goes have resulted in an impressive number of awards, including winning four Grammy Awards (from eight nominations) for his recording work. For his acting in television, Smith has earned two Golden Globe nominations (for “The Fresh Prince”) plus...

“Men in Black” may be one of Will Smith’s most iconic roles, but he almost passed on the project.
“I kind of understood ‘Men in Black’ a little bit, but I didn’t want to make ‘Men in Black.’ That was the next year after ‘Independence Day,’ so I didn’t want to make two alien movies back-to-back,” Smith told Kevin Hart on the comedian’s Peacock talkshow, “Hart to Heart.”
It was Smith’s manager James Lassiter, also known as J.L., who first suggested the project to him. But it was “Men in Black’s” producer Steven Spielberg who got the yes.
Spielberg sent a helicopter to pick up Smith and take him to his house. “He flew me in, and he said the coldest s–t. He said ‘Tell me why you don’t want to make my movie,'” Smith said. “And he put the ellipses at the end.

We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

Every year, a lot of actors win awards on Oscar night, but the ones who most often win the evening are the young stars and starlets who get to walk the red carpet. Sometimes they even win Oscar gold too. With any luck, the young star of “The Florida Project” Brooklynn Prince will make a splash at this year’s ceremony, but here are some of the cutest kids of years’ past:

Jackie Cooper was nominated for Best Actor for his role in 1930’s “Skippy.” To date, he’s the youngest boy to ever be nominated in the Best Actor category. He lost to Lionel Barrymore, who thanked Cooper in his acceptance speech. But Cooper didn’t hear it: he fell asleep on Marie Dressler’s arm during the ceremony (which started after midnight) and no one wanted to wake him.

Love is in the air on Netflix in February, from new romcoms like the Reese Witherspoon-starring “Your Place or Mine” to the return of murderous stalker Joe Goldberg in “You” Season 2 part 1.
Penn Badgley has long dispelled any misnomers of his “You” character being a romantic, but Joe himself still believes that’s who he is at his core. After killing his wife and faking his own death, Joe sets off for Europe so he can find Marianne (Tati Gabrielle), the woman he convinced himself he’s in love with before she learned the truth and fled. But breaking old habits has never been easy for old Joe, who quickly gets caught up in a most dubious clique of London high society that has its own struggles with lust, power, and the occasionally fatal crime.
Here’s everything coming to Netflix in February 2023.

Long before he won the 2022 Best Actor Oscar for playing tennis prodigy producer Richard Williams in “King Richard,” Will Smith was first recognized in the category for his portrayal of iconic boxer Muhammad Ali in “Ali.” His performance in the 2001 film, which amounts to one hour, 57 minutes, and 22 seconds of screen time, currently stands as the 12th longest ever nominated for any acting Oscar. He also holds the 47th spot on the list thanks to his work in 2006’s “The Pursuit of Happyness.” The performance that finally won him the award is significantly shorter than these two, yet still long by Oscars standards, as it just crosses the 90 minute mark.
Smith’s one-hour, 30-minute, and 10-second-long lead turn in “King Richard” is the 18th longest to have ever merited a Best Actor win. It also constitutes the lengthiest performance in the film by nearly half an hour, with Saniyya Sidney...

It’s been a big year for Prime Video. From The Boys season 3 to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to even the terrible games presented on Thursday Night Football, there were many hits to satisfy Jeff Bezos’ bottom line. How is the Amazon streamer planning on closing out 2022? Why, with another potential hit, of course!
Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for December 2022 is highlighted by the return of an old favorite. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 3 premieres all eight episodes on Dec. 21. This time around John Krasinki’s CIA analyst will be dealing with a potentially nuclear conflict with Russia. The only other original TV series of note this month is Three Pines on Dec. 2. Apple Original Films has revealed the trailer for the highly anticipated film ‘Emancipation.’
Directed and executive produced by Antoine Fuqua and starring and produced by Will Smith.
The film tells the triumphant story of Peter (Smith), a man who escapes from slavery, relying on his wits, unwavering faith and deep love for his family to evade cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on his quest for freedom.
The film is inspired by the 1863 photos of “Whipped Peter,” taken during a Union Army medical examination, that first appeared in Harper’s Weekly. One image, known as “The Scourged Back,” which shows Peter’s bare back mutilated by a whipping delivered by his enslavers, ultimately contributed to growing public opposition to slavery.
Ben Foster, Charmaine Bingwa, Gilbert Owuor, Mustafa Shakir, Steven Ogg, Grant Harvey, Ronnie Gene Bivens, Jayson Warner Smith, Jabbar Lewis, Michael Luwoye, Aaron Moten and Imani Pullum also star.

China Selects Feelgood Hit ‘Nice View’ for Oscars Race
China has selected feelgood comedy drama film “Nice View” as its contender for the best international feature film category of the Academy Awards.
The Chinese film industry has pursued an increasingly separate course from the rest of the world this year – few foreign titles have been granted import permits and quota release slots, and, similarly, few Chinese films have been allowed to play at overseas film festivals. So, it was unclear whether Chinese authorities would participate in the Oscars process and submit a national contender.
Inviting comparisons with “The Pursuit of Happyness,” the plot of “Nice View” involves a 20-year orphaned man who moves to the Shenzhen megacity and works as a repair man to raise money for his six-year-old sister’s heart surgery. When it goes wrong, his plan to borrow money to buy crates full of second-hand telephones leaves...

Spooky Season is in session on Hulu, as the streaming service is adding a ton of horror-themed content this month. But not to worry, there’s plenty of other non-spooky new movies and shows to watch, too.
In the horror realm, director David Bruckner’s new (and well-received) take on “Hellraiser” arrives on Oct. 7, while horror films ranging from “Annabelle: Creation” to “The ABCs of Death” to “Monster House” to “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” arrive throughout the month.
In decidedly non-scary new arrivals, the entire series of “Schitt’s Creek” comes to Hulu on Oct. 3 after streaming on Netflix for the last few years, while the Hulu original film “Rosaline” – which tells the “Romeo and Juliet” story from a different point of view – streams on Oct. 14.
Other noteworthy library titles include Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch” on Oct. 25 and David Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” on Oct. 31.

You know what they say, the truth is “Stranger” than fiction.
“Stranger Things” star David Harbour is set to co-lead upcoming HBO limited series “My Dentist’s Murder Trial” opposite Pedro Pascal. The show is currently in development.
Inspired by James Lasdun’s New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation,” the series tells the true story of how Dr. Gilberto Nunez (Pascal) was indicted for the death of his friend, Thomas Kolman (Harbour).
Both Pascal and Harbor will executive produce the series, with Steve Conrad writing, executive producing, and directing the pilot. Conrad is also attached to write the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” prequel novel “Tales of Dunk & Egg,” as Variety reported.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists will also executive produce along with Bruce Terris, Molly Allen, James Lasdun, and MGM Television.

A new month has arrived, which means a fresh batch of movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix. Most monumentally, the beginning of the month saw the conclusion of “Stranger Things 4,” which began back in May but is just now finishing up. (There’ll be one more season before the series winds down.) Other new Netflix original series this month include the horror-comedy “Boo, Bitch,” the fourth season of “Virgin River” and the fifth season of all-ages animated spin-off “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” (which we’ve heard has some surprising connections to this summer’s blockbuster “Jurassic World: Dominion”).

Last week, news broke that HBO was in development on a “Game of Thrones” sequel series centered around Kit Harington’s Jon Snow character, the latest in a large suite of projects being developed that have their start in the world created by George R.R. Martin and dramatized by the blockbuster series (which concluded in the summer of 2019). Now, both Martin and Daenerys Targaryen herself Emilia Clarke are talking about the new series and its somewhat surprising origins.
According to Martin, who posted about the news on his website’s Not-a-Blog section, the project is codenamed “Snow” and has been development as long as the other “Game of Thrones”-adjacent series that HBO is developing, which are “Ten Thousand Ships” (from Amanda Segel), “Sea Snake” aka “Nine Voyages” (from “Rome” creator Bruno Heller) and a show centered around characters Dunk and Egg, from “The Pursuit of Happyness” writer Steve Conrad.

It was probably inevitable — Saturday Night Live did its own interpretation of the altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars. The skit did not show the slap, instead focusing on Will Smith, played by Chris Redd, who is having a conversation with a seat filler, played by host Jerrod Carmichael, during Chris Rock’s speech.
The chat starts with the seat filler expressing his admiration for “my hero” Smith, telling the Hollywood star that The Pursuit of Happyness inspired him and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit” is his ringtone and asking for a selfie, to which Redd’s Smith readily obliges. As he is taking in his fan’s compliments and the seat filler gets his phone ready for the selfie, Redd’s Smith says “I’ll be right back, man” and walks off. A slap is heard (but not seen) as the admiration on seat filler’s face turns to horror.

In recent years, Oscar-winning actor Will Smith has been recognized more for his accomplishments in film than in music. Smith recently swept the 2022 film awards, winning the Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA, and Oscar for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Willams, in "King Richard." Over the years, the actor has built an acting resume that spans multiple decades and genres, from comedies like "Men in Black" and "Bad Boyz" to intense dramas like "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happiness."
There is no denying Smith's incredible acting career, but he has an accomplished music career as well. Before he was Will in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," Smith was known in the 1980s for rapping alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff as part of the fittingly named duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. Among the duo's top hits are their songs "Parents Just Don't Understand" and "Summertime.
