It's taken nearly two full seasons, but Will has finally built a genuine family connection with someone.
Bringing on John Ortiz to play Antonio Miranda has been a delight. He has a believable connection with Ramon Rodriquez, so Antonio wants to show him his heritage and family in Puerto Rico.
Spoilers for Will Trent Season 2 Episode 9 hint that after Will joins his uncle in Puerto Rico and returns home, he gets involved in a case involving his uncle's friend's death.
We've come to love how supportive Antonio has become of Will. That was evident especially as Will broke down as his memories came flooding back to him about his childhood trauma in Jack's home.
Will has never had a "real" family. He's had Angie since he met her through the foster care system, but that's tainted with its' own memories, and he's formed different bonds with his work colleagues.

If this is how All Rise wraps up its legacy, it sure doesn’t feel like a satisfying way for it to end.
Greg Spottiswood’s courtroom drama, which starred Simone Missick as the boundary-pushing Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lola Carmichael, said goodbye on November 18 with a one-hour series finale on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network that felt more like a season ender than an authentic reflection of three seasons worth of work. The final episode, coincidentally titled “Sometimes Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction,” had several loose ends to tie up in just 41 minutes, which made it all the more difficult to give equal attention to lingering storylines while also attempting to put a proper cap on the series.

It's two years after CBS canceled All Rise the first time, and here we are again. It's All Rise's series finale; this time, it's for keeps.
All Rise holds a dear place in my heart. I've cared about the cases and the relationships in the series. I was so excited to watch Mark and Amy get married on All Rise Season 3 Episode 20.
I'm unsure if OWN knew that All Rise 3B was the final season initially, but these past ten episodes have been fantastic, and this was the ideal send-off.
Before we dive into the wedding details, let's discuss the final case. As much as I adored Emily Lopez and her helping lost souls, I would have preferred focusing on Mark and Amy's wedding and dealing with the Russians.
However, Emily represented Nori Byrd, who was accused of murdering her husband with a bloody knife. She passed out...

All Rise wrapped up its three-season run on Saturday with Mark and Amy’s long-awaited wedding, and to be honest, I’m not sure if I’m relieved or disappointed that the nuptials went off without a hitch.
As the series ender began, the threat from the Russian crime family somewhat loomed over Mark and Lola, who was the judge on the hitman’s trial. Mark wanted Lola to reassign the case to another judge, exclaiming that the criminals had her address, but Lola refused to be bullied off the bench.

It's party time! Mark and Amy finally celebrated their bachelor and bachelorette parties, but getting there was an adventure.
On All Rise Season 3 Episode 19, Amy's estranged family arrived unexpectedly, overwhelming her, and the Russians threatened to wreck Mark's wedding day if he didn't cooperate.
"Come Hell or High Water" demonstrated why this couple considered their friends their family and why this wedding was important to them.
While Vic Callen grates on my nerves, I don't doubt that he loves Mark. Amy's family was a piece of work, and I understand why she kept her distance from them.
While it worked out in the end, she should have been allowed to reconcile with her family on her terms, not because Rachel unknowingly invited them to surprise her.
I'm unsure why Rachel demanded to become Amy's maid of honor, but she was way too involved, which she realized when Amy's mom and...

Fans of Albert Brooks will not want to miss an insightful documentary in which he’s interviewed by his best friend, Rob Reiner, about the seminal moment of his life.

Big things are coming this week, including Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which literally finds fabled giants in the realm of Godzilla coming to the small screen with an exciting new branch of the film series.

If you've missed Law & Order: Svu, this is the ideal All Rise episode to watch.
It felt like a classic episode where the lines were gray, and the trial was complicated.
Emily defended a woman charged with attacking her rapist on All Rise Season 3 Episode 18. While many victims have had similar urges to go after their attacker, is it revenge or is it justice? That's tricky, legally.
It's difficult not to empathize with Darlene. Dr. Vasquez, her boss, was acquitted of raping her, so she decided to take vengeance into her own hands.
Darlene: I needed to show him he couldn’t get away with what he did to me, no matter what the jury said. I don’t trust juries.
Emily: You’ll have to move past that.
Permalink: You’ll have to move past that. Added: November 02, 2023
I'm surprised Emily didn't use the insanity plea, especially since Darlene struggled with reality.

Lindsay Mendez Joins Josh Andrés Rivera & Patrick Schwarzenegger In ‘American Sports Story’ Season 1
All Rise alumna Lindsay Mendez is set as a series regular alongside Josh Andrés Rivera and Patrick Schwarzenegger in Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology American Sports Story, Deadline has learned.

All Rise went there. They covered the most controversial topic -- women's rights about abortion.
While parts of "I Will Not Go Quietly" seemed political, other parts touched my heart.
It was challenging to watch Mia's choices be prosecuted on All Rise Season 3 Episode 17 just because she made the right choice, and Amy and Ness were ideal attorneys for her.
I want to think that the United States has evolved by the 21st century, so we're not chasing young women out of clinics for getting an abortion.

Things are changing for All Rise. While seeing all these developments is exciting, it almost felt a little too late, considering the final season is more than halfway over.
During All Rise Season 3 Episode 16, Ness tried her first big case, and Da Bravo announced the next Head Deputy Da.
Ness passed the bar exam ages ago, so seeing her go head-to-head against the district attorneys would have been entertaining to see earlier in the season, too. Let's discuss how she managed her first big case.
Social media influencers make challenging clients. Mark and Sara learned that in All Rise Season 3 Episode 2, and it took many arguments to teach Gigi to become authentic and not care about upsetting her fans.
Now, it was Ness's turn to defend a social media influencer, and she was not happy since her client had been accused of second-degree murder and poisoning customers.

Times are changing for All Rise.
Da Bravo is naming a new Head Deputy Da. Ness Johnson is about to try her first case in court.
She's waited for this day her entire life, but now she's terrified because she's defending someone whose morals she doesn't agree with.
Ness's First Trial
Ness has been assigned to defend Camilla Kahlo, a yoga instructor and social media instructor, accused of murder and poisoning customers with her beauty products.
That's a big one for her first case, and even worse, the case is being recorded, and she's up against Maggie Palmer and Teddy. No wonder she's nervous.
Since she joined Audubon, Quinn, and Associates, Ness has handled cases in the office like family wills, so this is a big change for her. Ness learns quickly that she can't always choose clients she likes since working with social media influencers is challenging.

It's always a fun time when Ben leaps into a host who dabbles in the unknown and mysterious. Scientific skepticism duking it out with the belief that all things are possible. Because, after all, he's a body-skipping time traveler, so who's he to say what's improbable?
In a number of ways, Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 3 bears a striking resemblance to Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 7, only instead of spirits, Ben's got potential extraterrestrials complicating the mission.
What's less fun is watching Ben process the news that Addison's moved onto a new relationship. They are both hurting so much, it's a wonder Addison sticks out the whole leap.
The X-Files vibe is slightly defused by a lack of Scully-versus-Mulder tension on site. Yes, Addison tries to Occam's Razor the situation, but Ben's the scientist, and he's clearly intrigued by the possibility of proving the presence of aliens.
Also, whether purposely or not,...

All Rise has covered some thought-provoking cases in their final season, but this was the most topical case.
Almost everyone related to this case, whether you were a parent or were bullied as a child. Bullying has become far too prevalent in schools, making many of us emphasize with Jim Evans's predicament in All Rise Season 3 Episode 15.
If they witnessed a student bullying their daughter, most parents would not step back and do nothing. They would jump in to protect her. It's a fine line between moral and legal, and these gray cases are interesting to discuss.
Jim Evans (Sweet Magnolias Brandon Quinn) never meant to hurt Timothy. In minutes, Quinn displayed some of his best emotional work.
He felt betrayed by a school that never defended his daughter, who came home in tears, so he took matters into his own hands before she followed through on her threat to commit suicide.

There is no partying this week because it's time for tissues and thinking caps.
We're nearly halfway through All Rise's final batch of episodes, and the series has done an excellent job of balancing fun group scenes with cases that make you think.
These latest episodes have been the strongest in many ways, which I wonder is because they knew it was ending and had time to prepare.
All Rise Season 3 Episode 15 features two important cases and some lighthearted scenes of Mark and Luke on a road trip to balance out the seriousness.
I'd recommend preparing yourself for these cases since they tackle two serious topics -- bullying in schools and racism in schools.
Emily's Hardest Case

The Hoj really acts like a tribe, and All Rise Season 3 Episode 14 showcased that family-like atmosphere at Lola's birthday party.
We haven't had a massive cast scene since Robin and Lola renewed their vows at the end of All Rise Season 2. Celebrations bring people together and show that these friends have become like family.
Lola tried to show that message to feuding Sushi chefs, where the owner was accused of poisoning the sous chef. It was complicated since there was so much affection and respect between the two men. Even when there isn't blood, families are complex.
Robin was on a mission to make Lola's birthday memorable and prove how well he knew his wife. The problem was getting Lola to leave the office.
Poor Mark tried everything, including asking her to stand up at his upcoming wedding.
Mark: I was going to ask if you’d be my best woman.

Mark Callan has always been Robin's cohort since he's been Lola's best friend forever.
Since the second half of All Rise Season 3 began, the series has highlighted the strength and fun of Mark and Lola's friendship. Now Mark has one of his most difficult tasks -- getting Lola to her surprise birthday party.
TV Fanatic was fortunate enough to get an exclusive clip from All Rise Season 3 Episode 14, and we're wondering how many methods Mark had to deliver Lola to her party on time.
Ordinarily, it might have been easier to get Lola to leave the office, but she was preparing for her judicial recertification, which expired that night.
Mark is usually better prepared, but he had to go through multiple backup plans to get her to budge.
We knew Mark would ask Lola to be his best woman, but that moment was still emotional.

You do not tell Harry Bosch that he can’t help search for his abducted daughter. Captain Seals learns that lesson in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek from Bosch: Legacy Season 2, above.

All Rise's final season has found a successful formula, and I wish the series continued longer.
All Rise Season 3 Episode 13, we brought back Carl Brewer's murder trial and some legendary guest stars, including Dda Thomas Choi (Reggie Lee) and Lola's archrival, Corrine Cuthbert (Anne Heche).
This brought significant courtroom drama for Lola.
Mark and Luke suspected Carl Brewer was guilty of murder when another body was found in All Rise Season 3 Episode 12, and Carl was arrested for four additional murders.
While I was excited to see Dda Choi back to assist Mark, I was disappointed that Luke wasn't helping them. I wanted to see them team up on this case, but since Luke was Carl's defense attorney before, it wasn't ethical.
Since Carl slipped through their fingers before, Mark was even more determined to win this case and not buy into Carl's act that he was a sick,...

Fans of Anne Heche will get one last television performance from the actor, who died at age 53 last year. Heche’s final posthumous TV appearance airs tonight, Saturday, September 30, on the OWN legal drama All Rise, according to TVLine. Saturday’s episode, titled “Trouble Woman,” will feature the return of Heche’s lawyer Corinne Cuthbert, TVLine reports. The site also notes that the episode will end with a dedication reading, “In Memory of Anne Heche / Our Friend and Wonderful Artist / You Are Missed.” CBS Heche started recurring in All Rise in Season 2, with her character frequently clashing with Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick). The actor’s final appearance on the show was delayed by All Rise’s lengthy mid-Season 3 hiatus. OWN finally put the back half of the season on the schedule last month as it announced that Season 3 would be the final go-round for the former CBS show. A...
