A Feel Good Film Not to be Missed!

Who doesn't love to root for the underdog?! Making the Day has a great story, spot on casting - with stand out leads especially. Really enjoyed this film and an ending I didn't quite expect.

Feel good heart exploding view into the world of movie making

I loved this film. It rambles through NY meeting crazy characters every step of the way. The main characters pull you in and you find urself cheering for Fozzio on his search for his perfect Linda and his financing.

The coveted role and the much needed money become the golden ticket for a really enjoyable journey.

This realistic movie captures the drama and difficulty of making an Indie movie. The main characters are real to life sharing their humor and frustrations.

Inspiring

I absolutely loved this film...it was like watching a film come together from the behind the scenes, so to speak. The Samantha character (Juliette Bennett) was the backbone of the story for me...she did anything/everything to get the film made! She was truly great. I loved her line... "I'm not afraid of snakes!!!" Amazing job to you all.

A Valentine to movie making
timtuttle4428 March 2021
A valentine to movie making, to New York and New Yorkers, to the creative spirit and to love. Perfectly cast, it pulls us into the struggle to make a beautiful thing against many odds. Everyone shines, most of all Juliette Bennett. As a struggling actress she is gorgeous, radiant, hopeful, desperate, serene, !000% committed when it is asked of her ( even if it is ti be a zombie)--and she is the heart and soul of this gem of a film.

Perseverance creates a gem!

This movie will remind you of poor Sisyphus rolling the stone up the hill, only to see it tumble down and needing to be pushed up the hill over and over again. It is a story of the pain and suffering one has to endure to get an independent film made as it clearly reveals the passion Michael Canzoniero, the writer/director, has for filmmaking. Unlike Sisyphus, however, his trial ends in triumph as Canzoniero's grit got the movie made against the odds.

That's the metastory. Embedded with it are two tracks converging in the making of an independent film. The first follows the travails of a has-been actor trying to make a film revealing the love he has for his recently departed wife. The second presents the struggle a quirky young actress has getting the role that will lead her to stardom.

In my humble opinion the performances were authentic from everyone in the cast but I must praise brilliant performances of Steven Randazzo and Juliette Bennett. If a cabal didn't control the industry, their performances would have been worthy of Oscar consideration.

You don't watch Making the Day, you live it.
drdive29 March 2021
This movie has heart and soul because it is grounded the truth the race belongs not to the swift but to the strong. Like a fine wine, it needed time - 6 years - to be opened and appreciated. Kudos to the amazing writer and director, Michael Canzoniero, to the editor, Michael Berenbaum, to the cast, especially Juliette Bennett and Steven Randazzo, and to all the "little people" who made this movie because they love making movies. An indie like Making the Day reminds us that making serious movies requires people with heart more than studios with money.

Having a partner you love and whose life you want to honor is what drives this movie. After "experiencing" this movie, I went home kissed my wife. That was my reaction to the movie and it's the biggest compliment I can pay it.

The performances of their careers
baroque-4173531 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Before I begin my review, I must applaud Director Michael Canzoniero completed principal shooting in 48 hours around NYC for "Making the Day." a truly daunting task.

Now, for my revised review after watching a second time with a family member. "Making the Day", is a heartwarming drama/comedy that was extremely touching and from the heart. My very dear friend always said, "It doesn't matter how bad things are, something good could happen always. Never give up." My beloved father also held that philosophy. I think that is why it resonated with me so deeply. It's a film based on something I hold dear, "chasing your dream, and never giving up."

Steven Randazzo, who I have seen in more films than I can recall, gave the performance of the year and possibly his career. According to Mr. Canzoniero "the inspiration behind the film's narrative was provided by lead actor Steven Randazzo's own real-life struggle with underground film financiers "coming after him" for an incomplete movie while the film was in production." Something I completely understand (albeit all too well).

Mr. Randazzo plays perfectly off of a free-spirited actress who just might be his perfect leading lady. The perfect leading lady is none other than Juliette Bennett, who blew me away with her performance in "The Nth Ward" and rightfully earned her place beside me as a "Scream Queen." However her comedian aptitude goes above and beyond. Ms. Bennett was made for this role and she let herself shine in a brilliant, breakout performance as the free-spirited actress who just won't quit.

I hope that Mr. Randazzo and Ms. Bennett play off each other again in the very near future. The chemistry and flow between both actors is an immediate draw. They make a wonderful team.

Perfectly cast, it pulls us into the struggle to make a beautiful thing against every odd possible. Everyone shines, most of all Juliette Bennett.

As a family we give the film ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and that is a rating that I rarely, if ever, give.

An absolute must see.

Making the Day review
joanbeshar12 April 2022
I would like thank everyone involved in bringing this story to an audience seeking a true account of the struggles faced in an independent film production. The story and characters were engaging and determined to get the project completed. They did so with emotion and humor and a slice of Pizza Rustica.

The venture to NYC from NJ suburbs was more than worth it!

See the trailer and you'll understand why I gave it the top star rating.

A movie for movie makers
dylanokeefe-5006621 July 2022
Making the day tells the story of an impassioned film maker who will stop at nothing to tell the story of his family. At just under an hour and a half, the story wraps up all the character arcs while still leaving room enough for the audience wanting to find out what happens next!

Making the Day Hits It Right Out Of The Park!
joel-976057 May 2022
I just watched this film yesterday, which stars veteran actor, Steven Randazzo. If you want to see the feel good movie of the year, with a heartwarming love story, tons of laughs, drama, and a bunch of old-world, Italian charm, I highly recommend this film. I bought it on Amazon so I can watch it again and again! I hope the makers of this wonderful film and its amazing cast get the awards and accolades they well deserve. Kudos To all involved in this terrific motion picture, and thank you for making a film that breaks out of the typical mold and pulls at every emotion imaginable! Film making at its finest, in my opinion! I will watch this again and again!

Update on. June 25,2022. I have watched this film five or six times now, showing it to close friends and family. Each time I watch it, I continue to notice subtle elements I originally missed. This film is pure genius in film making and has become one of my favorite, feel great movies of all time. The film contains some important messages for us all. Love conquers all, and if you want something badly enough, give it your all, relentlessly, and you can make it happen! Thank you to the great, Steve Randazzo for Making the Day, making my year, and for giving us all this wonderful gift of a film that we can enjoy, again and again!!!

Juliette Bennet is sublime.
emmaodonnell23 April 2022
Juliette Bennet's performance is sublime. A comic genius, she is luminous in her portrayal of an artist who has conviction of passion and generosity toward her fellow film makers, and even the industry as a whole. Her authenticity shines through in the character with humor, sweetness, and light. Her tenacity is warm and big hearted. A truly moving performance by an actor playing an actor making it in this day to day world of creating a film.

A film that has EVERYTHING...
MediaRacket9 June 2022
There is so much to love about Making The Day - A wonderful movie-maker-odd-couple underdog story with characters that are so engaging and leads so relatable and so lovable, it's absolutely impossible for you not to root for them. Over the journey these two superbly realized 'nothing in common' main characters (Juliette Bennett and Steven Randazzo) take to achieve their filmmaker dreams, they (and us) share a lot of laughs, moments of real and heartfelt drama and even a share of suspense, as they learn about the tricky indie movie business and themselves. In addition to Ms. Bennett and Mr. Randazzo, there are a number of memorable supporting characters as well including Dan Fogler (The Offer). Michael Canzoniero's direction is full of life and gives off an irresistible energy and the script by Canzionero and Michael Berenbaum is positively first rate. Truly one of the great movies about making movies. As well as reminding you how important Indie Film is, Making the Day will positively make your day. See It!
