THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO with being a Democrat or Republican. This show is raising awareness for the need for the police to undergo de-escalation training & how to properly diffuse a high stressful situation. And in my opinion they are doing a wonderful job. So quit the too much Social Justice nonsense & start respecting the lives of people no matter what their race or color is.

Tired of the soapbox

Warning: Spoilers
Let me preface by saying, my comments are not political here. I'm a POC who have had more good than bad experiences with police. I respect that job. It's freaking hard. With that being said...This show sometimes gets on my nerves. I'm so tired of being preached to. I want shows, and movies to help me escape. I don't want to get hit over the head, or slapped in the face with issues from the headlines, that I can just turn on the news to see. Or, heck even recall my own experiences as reference. It's like the writers scroll through their news feeds to find topics.
Whether it's Hondo, or Chris, and very briefly Tan last season when someone hurt his mom in a racially motivated attack, I've had to grit my teeth, and sometime roll my eyes when the lectures start.
Also, this show is missing humor. No one ever has a funny quip? How is that possible with a whole group of people?
Lastly, they are writing Chris and Street like a couple of H. S. kids with crushes. Enough already. Just be platonic friends, and move on.

Way too much social justice preaching

Really, this is just a bad episode

It's not the social justice or the preaching. It's the writing. There's way too much exposition, and since the actors are having to make speeches, they are unable to act.
It's like you're watching a bunch of serious men in an infomercial rather than an entertaining TV show.
I'm very grateful to the network for the issue that Tan is bringing to the forefront. (I've read somewhere before that CBS allows actors and actresses to bring attention to issues that they care about. NCIS once had the Marine Corps Scholarship as a plot point.)
