Lionsgate and Saban Films will unleash the alligator horror movie The Flood this summer (watch the trailer here), and the film’s official MPA rating has been handed in this week.
The Flood has been Rated “R” for…
“Violence, some gore, and language throughout.”
The action-horror movie hits Theaters, On Demand and Digital on July 14, 2023. The premise suggests a Syfy-style monster movie – alligators inside a prison – but the execution looks a lot closer to Alexandre Aja’s Crawl than anything you’d find on the Syfy network.
Think Crawl meets Assault on Precinct 13.
The Flood is directed by Brandon Slagle (Frost, The Dawn) and co-written by Chad Law (Section 8, Close Range, 6 Bullets) and Josh Ridgway (The Sector, Howlers).
In the film, “A horde of giant hungry alligators is unleashed on a group of in-transit prisoners and their guards after a massive hurricane floods Louisiana.”

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, we’re back to just Mark Henry and Paul Wight on commentary and this week’s show is another short card, featuring 6 matches this week. Let’s get right into the action!
Match #1: Ethan Page def. Jd Griffey
My Thoughts: Griffey had a decent showing here in this quasi-squash match, but this one was Ethan Page’s to lose. It’s good to see Page actually wrestling on Aew television and not just cutting promos. Maybe now Scorpio Sky has the TNT Title spotlight that some of the spotlight will rub off on Page. Here’s Hoping!
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Roh Women’s Title Match – Mercedes Martinez def. Hyan
My Thoughts: Mercedes Martinez gave Texas local Hyan a Lot of room here. It even looked like she was doing Hyan’s moves for her at one point!

Happy Monday, dear readers! Normally, Mondays are nothing to get excited about, but now that we’re officially into the holiday season, that’s enough to put this writer in a pretty darn good mood. Last week, we officially kicked off our 2021 Holiday Gift Guide with Black Friday deals, and today, we’re back with a look at all the killer horror and sci-fi home media releases that have come out throughout the year that would make for a great gift to find under the tree or stuffed in a stocking.
There are more than 75 different releases included in this edition of our gift guide, so I’ve done my best to categorize the releases in a way to make things easier on you as you check out all the great genre movies—new and old—that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home. And be sure...

Welcome to this weeks review of Aew Dark: Elevation, the first of this weeks Aew shows on the road to Full Gear… Which I’m damn well excited for thzt’s for sure! Let’s get right to it.
Match #1: Powerhouse Hobbs def. Danny Adams
My Thoughts: Well this was awkward… Who let Tony Schiavone borrow the Delorean from Back to the Future and travel through time to wrestle Hobbs? I’m joking of course but Danny Adams aka Dan the Dad really does resemble a young Schiavone. He also got his ass kicked like Schiavone would if he did wrestle! Hobbs just messed around with Adams, playing with him like a toy before getting the decisive win.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5 Match #2: The Butcher and The Blade def. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta)

After last week’s successful outing for Aew Dark: Elevation, and the fact it looks like Aew have cut down on the sheer number of matches on this week’s episode meaning this weeks episode is a lot shorter than the 2+ hours of episode three, I thought we’d revisit Aew Dark: Elevation and see how the latest episode fares… With that said, let’s get to it!
Match #1: Adam Page def. Bill Collier
My Thoughts: Bill Collier puts in another great showing, though he did still look a bit green – waiting for the odd move from Hangman Page and he looked mis-positioned for Page’s Buckshot… Still its only his second match in Aew. And you have to love Page handing Collier a beer after the match!
My score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: Varsity Blondes def. Dean Alexander & Carlie Bravo

As someone who has been a longtime fan of Christopher Landon’s directorial output over the years, his latest film—Freaky—is yet another home run for the filmmaker behind other genre entries like the Happy Death Day series, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Co-starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn, Freaky follows an unassuming high schooler named Millie (Newton), who ends up the latest target of the infamous Blissfield Butcher (Vaughn), but instead of becoming his victim, Millie ends up switching bodies with him after he attacks her with a ritual dagger, and the race is on to get her personage back before they’re both stuck living out the rest of their lives inside each other’s bodies.

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. My Opinion: 3.8 out of 5 – This was some fabulous wrestling that got cut off by an interference angle and going too short. That being said, there is so much breath-taking athleticism in here that you’ll go wild for much of this. Starks has a hell of a lot going for him, if this match is any indication. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions are planning a Nov. 13 theatrical release for “Freaky,” a horror take on the body-swap genre starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn.
The film, directed by Christopher Landon (“Happy Death Day”), follows 17-year-old Millie (Newton) who becomes the newest target of The Butcher (Vaughn), her town’s infamous serial killer.
Soon, The Butcher’s mystical ancient dagger causes him and Millie to switch bodies, and she learns that she has just 24 hours to switch back before the swap becomes permanent. With help from her friends, she races against the clock to lift the curse.
The film also stars Misha Osherovich, Celeste O’Connor, Uriah Shelton, Alan Ruck, Katie Finneran and Dana Drori.
Landon wrote “Freaky” alongside Michael Kennedy (Fox’s “Bordertown”). Jason Blum is producing, and the film is produced by Blumhouse Productions in association with Divide/Conquer. Couper Samuelson and Jeanette Volturno are executive producing.
“Freaky” will open on Nov.

A documentary featuring a couple of lads who have decided they want to find out the history behind the name of one of their local pubs? My initial thoughts were ‘Think I’ll pass’… I love it when I’m wrong!
After the unexpected success of their first documentary The Little Count, Paul Stainthorpe, Richard Laverick and Steven Landles – three local Durham lads – move on to the next quest… what is the history behind the name of local boozer The John Duck? Legend tells the story of a local character known as Durham’s very own Dick Whittington. Our gang of truth seekers (and world class dancers) seek to find out more about the local legend you probably didnt even know your favourite Durham pub was named after.
I’ll be honest, I’m somewhat of a documentary whore.

It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a jam-packed week, with plenty of movies waiting to take you money, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, October 1st 2012.

Or actually, the guy who is all “Taken” in the new movie “Six Bullets” is Joe Flanigan (of “Stargate: Atlantis” fame), but it’s Jean-Claude Van Damme’s gun-for-hire character who seems to be running around kicking all the asses. I’m guessing Flanigan gets to throw down a time or two, though you wouldn’t know it from the trailer. “Six Bullets” (a rather strange title, that) is due out on DVD August 21, 2012 from Sony Pictures. No idea if it’ll also be available on Blu-ray, though studios are starting to skimp on that now on titles they don’t expect to do a lot of business with. Veteran mercenary Samson Gaul (Jean-Claude Van Damme) knows that in the heat of battle, every bullet counts. He retired from combat when his actions resulted in the deaths of helpless victims, but now he’s the last hope for a desperate father.

If you've been aching for some good old Jean-Claude Van Damme action, here's a chance to get your fix while you're waiting for "The Expendables 2." The Muscles from Brussels shows off some serious skills in this trailer for "Six Bullets," a direct-to-dvd movie that will hit the shelves August 21st.
When Andrew Fayden's daughter is kidnapped, he goes to the best in the kid-rescuing biz, Samson Gaul (Jcvd). The ex-mercenary has the skills to pay the bills, and luckily Fayden (Joe Flanigan) is a former Mma fighter with a sweet tribal neck tattoo, so between them no butt goes unkicked during their search for Becky (Charlotte Beaumont).
"Six Bullets" leans on the real problem of human trafficking in Eastern Europe for the plot, which reminds us of another angry papa bear with "a very particular set of skills" and a kidnapped daughter.
"Finding people, it's what I do," Samson says with an air of melancholy.

Joe Flanigan was born Joseph Harold Dunnigan III on 5th January 1967 in Los Angeles, California. He has three brothers and four sisters. His father left shortly after Joe's birth and Joe changed his surname to Flanigan after John Flanigan, his step father who adopted him. Joe spent most of his childhood at a ranch near Reno, Nevada when his family relocated there when he was aged 6. Joe attended boarding school in Ojai, California at 15. Here he had the lead role in the school production of A Streetcar Named Desire, where he played Stanley Kowalski. After he graduated high school, Joe attended the university of Colorado. Here he read for a history degree and starred in the production of Coriolanus. Joe was seen as shy (hard to believe now) and was told by a friend to take up acting as a means to alleviate his timidness. Said Joe, "At one point in college,...

Filming on Six Bullets from director Ernie Barbarash (Cube Zero and the upcoming Jcvd/Scott Adkins film, Assassination Games) is gearing up for a September shoot in Bucharest, and Film New Europe has a pic of Jean-Claude Van Damme beefing up for his role, and probably for The Expendables 2, which should be shooting very soon too for its proposed August 2012 release.
Van Damme plays an ex-mercenary hired by a martial art fighter to find his kidnapped daughter. Van Damme’s son, Kristopher Van Varenberg, is also expected in the cast.

He's a weapon…. And he shoots where he's pointed!
So says the man Jean-Claude Van Damme in this trailer for "Assassination Games," his newest action thriller killer. Van Damme was last seen -- or heard -- in "Kung Fu Panda 2" as a crocodile, but his more recent films sound like outtakes from his meta-action pic "Jcvd," which tweaked the actor's waning career.
"Universal Soldier: Regeneration" went directly to DVD, and "The Eagle Path," which he wrote and directed, is headed there this October. However, things are looking up for Van Damme, at least when it comes to theatrical distribution.
"Assassination Games," previously known simply as "Weapon," is the first collaboration with Van Damme and director Ernie Barbarash, whose resume includes two episodes of the TV show "Rock the House" and the Cuba Gooding Jr./Val Kilmer vehicle "Hardwired." In "Games," Van Damme stars with muscle-bound martial arts dude Scott Adkins as,...

Here’s your first look at the trailer for Ernie Barbarash’s “Assassination Games”, formerly “Weapon” (a better title, in my opinion), starring Scott Adkins and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Not sure why the sound is all “echo-y”, but eh, movie looks cool. Definitely B-grade material, but then again, you probably expected that. Not sure how much of a theatrical release it’s going to get, if any in the States, but they’re promising a July release date. Via IGN. Rival assassins — each of whom are masters of their respective weapons — form an uneasy alliance in their mission to take down a DEA-backed drug cartel. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins and Kevin Chapman and directed by Ernie Barbarash, who will be re-teaming with Van Damme again in “Six Bullets” soon, before moving on to “The Package” with Dolph Lundgren and Steve “Stone Cold” Austin. Dude’s definitely cornering the market on B-movie action stars.
