- In the season finale, a violent battle for control erupts on the submarine, which leaves the Colorado vulnerable to capture by a third party - one with an exploitative plan. The question becomes: can Marcus and Sam take control of the sub before it's too late?—Anonymous

It is the last "Last Resort" and they packed it all in for the final bang. While the series finale is necessarily compressed it still works as a pressure cooker hour.
First up is the Colorado's leaders. When we first come upon them Chaplin and Kendal are arguing about Kendal's aborted mutiny. Chaplin wonders what Sam believes in, Sam questions Chaplin's sanity.
But they have bigger fish to fry. Word comes that Chinese warships are bearing down on the island. Chaplin goes to the Chinese ambassador and says if he forces him to blow the Chinese ships out of the water they will touch off a war. The ambassador, who clearly wanted this, plus the sub, all along basically shrugs his shoulders and says that's the game.
Chaplin hauls Sam back to the boat and has him put under guard. The COB appears and says it's time to go home. He and a skeleton crew are running the boat and his plan is to turn on the Perseus and pass the blockade undetected and head on home and face the music. But wait! This double cross turns into a triple cross when the rapist Anders appears and disables the COB and lets everyone know the real plan: to turn on the Perseus, pass the blockade and sell the Colorado to the Chinese for untold riches.
Grace, the COB, Chaplin and Kendal are aghast. One of the traitors stabs the COB but in the melee he and Grace get away, engage in a quick firefight, and barricade themselves in the nuke room.
Kendal and Chaplin manage to slip their bonds-thanks to help from Chaplin's spy Brannan, who gets a bullet in his back from Anders for his trouble-- and head to the belly of the ship and take over it's operations and decide that come hell or high water the Chinese aren't getting the boat, even if it means they have to scuttle it.
Kendal gets in touch with Sophie on the island and tells her to let Washington knows what happened and to order an airstrike on the Colorado so she won't fall into enemy hands. Even though everyone knows this will kill the few souls left on board, Sam knows it's what must be done and Sophie reluctantly agrees. Working in seclusion from the others at the NATO station she carries out his order and an airstrike is imminent. Most of the Colorado crew is on the island and safe since they were ordered off the ship by the mutineers. Julian is angry with her since she ruined his deal with the Chinese/the mutineers and is sad they won't be king and queen of the island.
Grace and the COB manage to fend off and kill a few of the attackers by allowing poison gas to seep out of the weapons. They wear gas masks and save themselves. They promise to have a drink when it's all over, even though the COB is on the wagon.
Sam and Chaplin manage to ground the Colorado, thus rendering it incapable of firing its nukes. A mad Anders had planned to fire a weapon at Chaplin's home state of Maryland but his and Sam's handiwork makes this impossible, neutralizing the boat. A mad Anders comes after Chaplin and Chaplin shoots him dead.
With the airstrike imminent it's time to abandon ship but Chaplin, unsurprisingly, decides to go down with the ship on the premise that the airstrike might not be enough to keep the Colorado from the Chinese, besides, it's where he wants to be. Sam finally understands, salutes him and bugs out.
He, Grace, the COB and a few others make it to shore just in time to watch the F-18s bomb the Colorado. We see that Chaplin had put back on his shades and went out laughing.
James stayed behind on the island to take care of one last problem for Tani. The Chinese ambassador brought prospectors to the island to investigate the rich soil and they roughed up her family. She asks James to take them out. But just as he's about to shoot the Chinese ambassador she stops him, telling him she doesn't want him to kill anymore. Later, in the Buzzard's nest they watch the Colorado/D.C. events unfold on the news.
Meanwhile, back in Washington in the aftermath of the failed coup and Kylie's dad siding with the evil president, Kylie is asked to prove her loyalty by killing her boyfriend who was involved in the coup attempt. He argues that she must do this to gain her father and the president's trust and then she can let the world know what happened. Tearfully, she kisses him and shoots him. But she's wily Kylie and she has a plan. She paid Hopper to go rescue Christine Kendal from the Phillipines. Christine arrives in Washington and Kylie hands her the flash drive with the damning evidence that the president ordered the weapons inspector killed in Pakistan, the planting of the suitcase nukes, and the strike on Pakistan that touched off this whole affair. She tells Christine to take the flash drive to a roomful of waiting reporters and tell the story of what really happened with the Colorado.
As she goes to do this, Kylie heads to her dad's house. Since she has proven her loyalty she is welcomed with open arms. When her dad points out that they have a "special guest," Kylie pulls out the gun she shot her boyfriend with and shoots the president dead.
The Colorado crew heads home. Grace sadly looks around for her dad who is nowhere to be seen. The COB falls to the ground and kisses it. Cortez merely stands at attention and salutes. Sam and Christine rush to one another and embrace.
We see Sam Kendal talking to reporters telling them the story of Marcus Chaplin's bravery and dedication and --he lets us know the president and evil administration have "fallen"-- that the full story will come out in investigations. But until then he's glad to be home and says he's staying.
