The Mexican police officer puts a shovel in the back seat of his car, but, when he gets to his destination, he opens the back of the car and takes out the shovel.
Powell's clothes are dirty, from being dragged across rough ground and the floor of a disused bakery, but they get clean and her hair is tidy, in later scenes.
