Based on Richard Gadd’s autobiographical one-man show of the same name, Netflix’s Baby Reindeer is based on Gadd’s real-life experience of being stalked by a woman named Martha. The series has surpassed expectations to become one of Netflix’s most popular TV shows of all time, taking its place on the streaming service’s Top 10 list.
With a total of 84.5 million views since its release on April 11th, Baby Reindeer is sitting pretty at the #10 spot, which means that it has bumped the first season of The Witcher off the list entirely. Sorry, Geralt. The list tracks how many views a show gets within its first 91 days on Netflix, and as Baby Reindeer still has a month to go before it reaches that limit, it could very well jump up a few positions.

We’re not making this true story up: “Baby Reindeer” has officially booted “The Witcher” from Netflix’s Most Popular TV (English) list.
The Richard Gadd limited series has amassed 84.5 million views globally since its release on April 11. Season 1 of “The Witcher” snagged 83 million views over its first 91 days of availability, which is Netflix’s cutoff for the all-time Top 10 list. “Baby Reindeer” has about a month left, so expect it to climb higher in the ranks. “Bridgerton: Season 2,” “Stranger Things 3,” “Fool Me Once,” and “The Night Agent”: Donny and Martha are coming for you.
Yet “Baby Reindeer” is no longer making Netflix’s weekly Top 10. Just last week it spent its eighth week on the Top 10 weekly list, clocking in at No. 10, while “Bridgerton: Season 2” has spent a whopping 19 weeks in the Top 10 as the third season of “Bridgerton” has inspired a lot of rewatches.

‘Baby Reindeer’ Leaps Onto Netflix’s Most Popular Series List; ‘Under Paris’ Takes Streamer By Storm
It’s official — Baby Reindeer is one of Netflix’s most popular series of all time.
The thriller series has crept its way to No. 10 on the streamer’s all-time English-language TV series list after clocking 84.5 million views since its release April 11, bumping The Witcher Season 1 off the list.
And, there’s still time for it to keep moving on up. Baby Reindeer still has 30 days in its premiere window, which gives it an opening to secure an even higher spot, potentially rivaling Bridgerton Season 2 or Stranger Things 3. The most impressive aspect of Baby Reindeer‘s certified hit status is that it isn’t attached to any IP, like many of the series it sits among on the most popular list, and it relied on word-of-mouth for its growth trajectory.

Sweet Tooth, the Netflix drama adapted from Jeff Lemire’s comic book, just released its third and final season, garnering a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show, often overshadowed by Netflix hits like Stranger Things and The Witcher, has finally claimed its well-deserved spot among the best. The narrative of Sweet Tooth centers on Gus, a hybrid child with deer-like features navigating a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a virus. The story unfolds as he pursues survival, hope, and identity. As Jim Mickle, the showrunner, explains: The thing for me originally was the question if you could make an apocalyptic...

Exclusive: Shawn Ryan, whose thriller drama The Night Agent was the most watched TV series of 2023 on Netflix, has signed a big, four-year overall deal with the streamer, sources tell Deadline. More photos from the set of The Witcher season 4 have found their way online and they offer up a first look at Freya Allan's return as Ciri along with her new companions, The Rats.
As Redanian Intelligence explains, this is almost certainly an adaptation of a scene from the books which sees The Rats ambush a baron's carriage in Nilfgaard. It appears Ciri cuts the throat of the baron's daughter, suggesting she's heading down a darker route in these episodes.
However, this is likely in response to the fact the woman's father is among those who hire Leo Bonhart to hunt Ciri down.
The Rats have also been spotted: Ben Radcliffe's Giselher, Christelle Elwin's Mistle, Aggy K. Adams' Iskra, Fabian McCallum's Kayleigh, Juliette Alexandra's Reef, and Connor Crawford's Asse. Once upon a time, they and Ciri were going to take centre stage in a...

Storytelling has been a facet of social behavior since the days of fingerpainting on dimly lit cavern walls.
Hopefully, the grunting, scratching cave audience didn't bludgeon the artist to death with makeshift clubs when a bad story resulted.
Modern fans can get downright mean over aspects of their favorite series.
Sometimes, the showrunners acknowledge the outcry -- sometimes, they don't.
Netflix's The Witcher and Amazon Prime's Rings of Power are perfect examples of what happens when writers ignore the fans, with both seeing a drastic drop in viewership.
The Rings of Power ended the season with only a third of its original audience.
Then again, for every failure, there is a success story.
For the most part, Shogun stuck to the books and never had to face the wrath of the fans.
It doesn't take much to reason the rest of the way through this balancing act, with millions...

Netflix unveiled first looks at a whole host of its upcoming animated shows and features during an event on Thursday, and Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder was on hand to introduce the first footage from his Norse Mythology series, Twilight of the Gods.
“I love mythology,” said the filmmaker. "On a scale like this, I feel like animation was the greatest way to tell the story.”
First announced way back in 2019, it's taken quite a while to find its way to our screens, but we recently learned that the show will finally premiere on Netflix this Fall.
The project has been described as "Anime-influenced," but judging by these clips, we'd say the animation style has more in common with the Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon studio.
“When most people think about animation, they think about Saturday morning cartoons, or G-rated movies,” said the presentation’s host, Christopher Sean. “But animation is...

“Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult” debuted as the second-most-watched TV title on Netflix for the week of May 27-June 2. In its first five days of streaming, the docuseries hit 8.8 million views.
On the TV chart, it was only beat by Season 3 of “Bridgerton,” which hit 11.6 million views in its second full week of availability and brought the season to a cumulative 82 million views since launch — just a hair below the total it needs to reach before being added to Netflix’s list of its most popular TV titles. Henry Cavill’s biggest flop of the year surprised director Matthew Vaughn in ways he did not expect. The filmmaker, who also helmed the successful Kingsman franchise, thought the 2024 spy thriller film would be a nice feel-good show for everyone, but what happened was the complete opposite.
Henry Cavill in Argylle / Universal Pictures
Argylle was peppered with harsh criticism from fans and reviewers. Over the past years, there has been an oversaturation of espionage-themed movies in the market, but the root cause of its failure was the early negative reviews that discouraged fans from giving it a chance.

Whether exploring post-apocalyptic wastelands or the far reaches of space, it’s easy to get lost in the visual language of a video game world. Transitioning that experience into a cinematic storytelling form is no easy task, but this season has seen more than a few production designers square up to the challenge.
Fallout takes some visual models from the Bethesda game series for an entirely new story, Halo grounds the sci-fi game universe with real world architecture, and although The Witcher exists as a video game series, the Netflix series version focuses on finding depth in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original fantasy novels.

Leandros, on the other hand, is infamous for his rigid adherence to the Codex Astartes, leading to frustrating outcomes for players in “Space Marine.” Yet, neither of these characters holds the dubious honor of being the most hated. So who is it?

The history of Hollywood adapting video games in movies and TV shows has been a little spotty, to say the least, but in recent years, I think the tide has been turning. With shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, video game fans have developed a little hope to see their favorite adapted into a great piece of art and while there will still be wasted efforts like Netflix’s The Witcher and Paramount+’s Halo, they are still only two shows. So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

Henry Cavill’s love for video games is pretty well documented, as the actor almost missed out on playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dceu following his commitment to World of Warcraft. But his tenure as the Man of Steel wasn’t the lone huge gig that pushed Cavill to the top, as the Argylle star also got to headline Geralt in the adaptation of one of his favorite games, The Witcher.
With the actor now set to star and produce an adaptation of Warhammer 40000, fans have been long imploring for a Cavill-led World of Warcraft, which he deemed one of his favorites. And the recent concept trailer further proves why the former DC star is perfect for the job.

When you think of the Star Wars films, George Lucas is the immediate name that comes to mind. The pioneering efforts of the genius filmmaker created a new cinematic revolution in Hollywood that is still seen as the benchmark for all aspiring sci-fi directors today.

But Lucas could well have had competition in this space if popular novelist and screenplay writer David Goyer had gone through with his original script for a Star Wars film. The Man of Steel writer who is also known for his work in other Marvel and DC films, had written a story which was to have been helmed by none other than Guillermo Del Toro, but failed to materialize.

Henry Cavill’s Argylle suffered tremendously not only at the box office but also in the critic reviews. The spy thriller film helmed by Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn led a promising introduction with its star-studded cast, but even with the tandem of The Witcher star and John Cena, the movie still flopped.

Maintaining its status as a vast churning mill of content, Netflix has regularly made giant leaps in original content making. To keep new titles coming in, it has often turned to adapting existing novels and video games such as The Witcher. However, with animation, the streaming giant faced disappointments with cancellations of projects like Ember and Cattywumpus. Yet, its fortune has always given way to critical acclaim with the Castlevania series, including Castlevania: Nocturne.

Everything about the making of 1954's "Godzilla" feels miraculous. The movie is a feat of filmmaking on every level, from its now aged yet still impressive practical effects to its bold nuclear threat story set in post-war Japan. The film utilized every trick in the book to bring its eponymous kaiju to life, from building a monster costume out of plastic and concrete to creating Godzilla's infamous roar by rubbing the loosened strings of a double bass.
The team behind the original "Godzilla" movie, which included director Ishirō Honda, special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, and the team at Toho Studios, got creative with their moviemaking at every opportunity. Still, no amount of creative problem-solving could save the cast and crew from the forces of nature, which apparently conspired against the production during some especially sweltering days in Japan's Mie prefecture.

Game of Thrones and The Witcher had one thing in common. They veered too far off the source text and kept going until the fans tasted nothing but bitterness and the critics foamed at their mouths with razor-sharp expletives. Star Trek: Discovery could very well be headed down the same road after one Season 5 announcement throws the original fans off their seat with a measure of abject horror.

Given the state of adaptations, remakes, and spin-offs in the current era of the entertainment industry, it can be said with enough accumulated expertise gained through experience that it never ends well for those who overstay their welcome. The last time Netflix’s The Witcher looked like it was off to a good start was before it even premiered. While having an avid fan of the franchise as its lead star could have been a great advantage to the TV show, it quickly turned out that neither the showrunner nor the writer’s room cared about the source material. Frustrated by having to constantly fight for every bit of lore, Henry Cavill quit the series after S3.
But Netflix simply sent a new Geralt of Rivia our way… Much to fans’ dismay.

In 2022, like many gamers, Gene Park booted up Cyberpunk 2077, the latest open-world RPG. Controller in hand, Park vividly recalls directing a digital Keanu Reeves to try and stop a murder, all while medical tubes protruded from his body. The tubes plugged into a port on his torso, and they were ready to pump chemicals inside. Unlike the digital augments that buffed his video game character,...
