Erin Kellyman, who appeared in Solo and The Green Knight, is the latest addition the cast of Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.
Filming has already begun on 28 Years Later, a belated sequel to director Danny Boyle’s own series of horror films which began with 28 Days Later in 2002. And, as cameras roll, it’s reported that British actor Erin Kellyman has joined the cast, which already includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.
It’s currently unknown what role Kellyman will play – but then again, there hasn’t been so much as a logline released for the film as yet. All we currently know is that the screenplay has been co-written by Boyle and Alex Garland (who wrote 28 Days Later) and that Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as bicycle courier and viral apocalypse survivor, Jim, last seen in the 2002 original.

Marvel Comics is home to several powerhouses. While some have immeasurable raw strength, others are more mystical in nature. We have witnessed both of these to some extent in the MCU, but the horizons of power levels have expanded way beyond our imaginations once the Infinity saga ended and the Multiverse saga began.
A still from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
We have seen glimpses of these kinds of powers in What If…? and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. And in both of them, and even during the Infinity saga, Doctor Strange was perhaps one of the strongest characters on the roster. However, there are other kinds of forces in Marvel that can even overpower the once Sorcerer Supreme.

"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.

There’s news. And there’s huge news. And there’s planet-sized news. And then there’s news that’s big enough to eat a planet as a delicious breakfast snack. And the latest bit of Marvel casting news is firmly in the final category – a much-anticipated role that finally puts a face to a gigantic name. Yes, the MCU is finally preparing to introduce legendary cosmic world-chomper Galactus in next year’s The Fantastic Four, and the powers that be have found their man: British actor Ralph Ineson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ineson will be donning the funky purple headgear and going head-to-head with the new Fantastic Four line-up – that’s Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm. The iconic Fantastic Four villain Galactus is back. Ralph Ineson is reportedly playing the powerful cosmic villain to give a hard time to the new Fantastic Four heroes. The superhero band will reportedly face more than one villain— one of them being his herald, the Silver Surfer.

A few days ago, Fangoria ran an article on character actor Ralph Ineson, whose credits include The Witch, The First Omen, Brahms: The Boy II, The Creator, Willow, The Green Knight, and much more, naming him “a modern horror icon.” Ineson took to social media to thank Fangoria for their kind words – and in response to Ineson’s post, director Guillermo del Toro revealed that Ineson has a “pivotal cameo” in his latest film, Frankenstein! He added that Ineson is amazing and fun to work with.
Ineson responded to del Toro, saying, “Thank you Boss, your set is a joyous place to be.”

Few movie studios can lay claim to the kind of brand name prestige that A24 has. Founded in 2012, the indie distributor has quickly become beloved by cinephiles and the A24 logo alone is enough to draw views to a trailer. It's a reputation that's been well-earned, through great horror movies like "Hereditary" and "Talk to Me" and off-the-wall genre films like "The Green Knight" and "Everything Everywhere All At Once." The latest A24 film comes from filmmaker Alex Garland (whose films "Ex Machina" and "Men" were distributed by A24 in the U.S.), and it has already set a new record for the studio.
"Civil War" is set in an imminent-future nightmare where the United States of America has fractured into multiple warring factions, and follows a group of war journalists as they journey to Washington, D.C., in the hopes of scoring a final interview with the defiant president...

History may not look more favorably upon many directorial debuts than Dev Patel’s inaugural feature Monkey Man. The film is both a wholly entertaining action film and an emotional, rewarding tale of revenge and dramatic character growth and development.
The story of Monkey Man concerns itself with the legend of something called Hanuman – which is the embodiment of strength and courage – that is supposed to serve as a vessel of retribution for those unable to achieve so themselves. At this point, the character of Kid (Patel) is introduced as a young man trying to earn a living participating in an illegal fight club wearing a gorilla mask. Through a series of flashbacks, it is revealed that Kid has been scarred by some rather brutal childhood traumas. The result of these incidents initiates and fuels his methodical quest for revenge against the men who destroyed the idyllic life he once enjoyed.

Dev Patel (The Green Knight) makes his directorial debut with the action-packed revenge thriller Monkey Man. Originally intended for Netflix this block-rocking bloodbath is finally making its way to the big screen after a tumultuous production that also brought in Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions (no introduction needed), as well as Thunder Road Films, known in large part for their work with the John Wick and Sicario films. And in keeping with the spirit of the films that came before it, and the chaotic nature of its development, Monkey Man is a bare-knuckle brawl of a story built on a foundation of blood, sweat, and tears.
Dev Patel plays our nameless lead, credited as Kid, who has been scratching and scrapping his way through poverty in hopes of one day taking revenge on the people responsible for murder of his mother and the destruction of their entire village. His story is a mystery to us,...

Dev Patel's buzzy feature directorial debut "Monkey Man" is hitting theaters this weekend following its rapturous premiere at SXSW last month. Patel, known for his roles in movies like "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Green Knight," is making a turn as both a filmmaker and action star with this one, which is being released theatrically by Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions. It also turns out that the studio managed to acquire the film for relative chump change after Netflix let the rights go.
According to Deadline, Universal acquired the rights to "Monkey Man" for less than $10 million. That is, in a word, shocking. Way back in early 2021, Netflix bought most of the global rights to Patel's action flick for a whopping $30 million. Yet, the film sat on a shelf collecting dust until very recently when it was revealed that Peele managed to rescue the film from said shelf.

A24 is really getting big. And we now mean that literally.
The indie studio is partnering with IMAX to re-release some of its most beloved films on IMAX screens, remastering movies from its library as part of a monthly screening series that will continue into 2025.
It kicks off with Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina” on March 27, followed by Ari Aster’s ‘Hereditary” on April 24, and the Safdie Brothers’ “Uncut Gems” on May 22. The screening of “Ex Machina” will precede a special sneak peek of Garland’s next movie with A24, “Civil War,” which also opens on IMAX screens on April 12.
Other titles haven’t been announced yet, but the studio will dig through its library of more than 140 feature films for future screenings. Can we humbly request “The Green Knight,” “Moonlight,” and “Under the Skin”?

Dev Patel is hopped up on the visual language and legacy of action cinema in Monkey Man, a walloping sucker punch of a debut feature from the star of Slumdog Millionaire and The Green Knight. Based on Patel’s original story, written alongside Paul Angunawela and John Collee, and produced by Jordan Peele through Monkeypaw Productions, the film is a blood and sweat slicked coming out party not just for a sharp new directorial talent, but a self-styled action star that no one expected.
Set in the fictional city of Yatana, Patel stars as Kid, a haunted young man who barely makes a living in an underground fighting ring. Drawing strength from the tale of Hanuman, the Hindu ape deity his mother told him tales of as a child, Kid dons a gorilla mask and takes falls against more popular fighters to make cash to scrape by. Sam Raimi was so impressed by Lee Cronin’s feature directorial debut, the 2019 horror film The Hole in the Ground, that he not only hired Cronin to contribute to his short-lived anthology series 50 States of Fright, he also gave the filmmaker the chance to write and direct the latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise. In addition to Raimi’s production company, that movie came to us from Warner Bros. Pictures and their subsidiary New Line Cinema. Obviously the studio executives liked what Cronin did with Evil Dead Rise, because The Hollywood Reporter has now broken the news that Cronin is teaming up with John Keville and Macdara Kelleher of Wild Atlantic Pictures to form a genre-focused production company called Doppelgängers, which has secured a first-look deal with New Line Cinema!

Lee Cronin, the Irish filmmaker behind last year’s hit Evil Dead Rise, has joined forces with frequent collaborators John Keville and Macdara Kelleher of Wild Atlantic Pictures to launch Doppelgängers, a new production outfit focused on genre fare.
The company is starting hot out of the gate, signing a first-look deal with New Line Cinema for its feature film projects. New Line released Evil Dead Rise in 2023, with the movie making a splash at last year’s SXSW and going on to gross $147 million worldwide. Cronin and New Line are currently in development on a horror-thriller titled Thaw.
Under the Doppelgängers banner, the trio will develop genre-focused feature film and television projects for Cronin to write and direct. Cronin will also produce alongside Keville and Kelleher, whose credits range from R-rated comedy Cocaine Bear to acclaimed art house fantasy The Green Knight, which starred Dev Patel.

Cronin and New Line are currently in development on a horror-thriller titled Thaw.
Under the Doppelgängers banner, the trio will develop genre-focused feature film and television projects for Cronin to write and direct. Dev Patel, who movie lovers are surely familiar with from his on-screen work in movies such as "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Green Knight," is beginning a new phase of his career. The actor-turned-director has his feature directorial debut "Monkey Man" coming our way in April (you can check out the trailer right here), and it's an action-packed, wild ride. Patel also stars in the lead role, and it required him to kick a lot of ass. Kicking all of that ass, it turns out, comes at a cost, as he broke his hand early on while filming. But, for various reasons, the show had to go on, broken bone and all.
"Monkey Man" recently held its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and the film was met with a very warm response, with /Film's Jacob Hall giving it an 8 out of 10 review. I was lucky enough to be on...

Dev Patel has been one of the most interesting actors to watch on screen. Despite not being an A-list movie star, he has starred in some great films that have been celebrated by critics and received awards recognition. His breakthrough role in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire landed him on the radar of many filmmakers.

Dev Patel (The Green Knight, Slumdog Millionaire) has much more on his mind than straightforward action homage with his high-octane directorial feature debut, Monkey Man. At the SXSW world premiere, Patel told the enrapt audience that he poured his soul into his hyper-violent actioner, and broke two toes, a hand, tore a shoulder, and battled an eye infection along with all the blood, sweat, and tears getting the film made. The effort shows in every frame.
While the violence onscreen is palpable and painful, it’s not the exquisite fight choreography and thrilling action set pieces that set Monkey Man apart but also its political consciousness, unique narrative structure, and myth-making scale.

Damsel is the latest fantasy film to be framed and sold as a deliberate subversion of typical fantasy tropes. While the traditional “prince saves the damsel in distress” fairy tale narrative hasn’t been common in fantasy for at least two decades at this point, the concept is so pervasive in popular culture that flipping it on its head has become just as, if not more, pervasive.
This most recent flipping aims to differentiate itself from other modern fantasy by combining the fairy tale approach with a darker Game of Thrones style tone. While the narrative is fairly simplistic, it still tackles very heavy material and does not shy away from the brutality and darkness of it all. And with the aid of a great lead in Millie Bobby Brown, it mostly succeeds.

It’s an interesting month on HBO and Max this March, as two acclaimed films hit the streamer along with some intriguing original programming.
First up in the movies arena is the streaming debut of Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet. From beloved Paddington director Paul King, the film follows the adventures of a young Willy Wonka as he looks to become the world’s best (and weirdest) chocolatier. Later in March on Max, there’s also Dream Scenario, a highly-regarded comedy boasting Nicolas Cage as Paul Matthews, who suddenly starts appearing in people’s dreams for unknown reasons, and who naturally becomes very famous as a result of this strange phenomena.
Series-wise, the biggest show on Max this month is The Regime. It packs a solid cast, including Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, and Hugh Grant, and tells the story of “life within the walls of a modern...

Mma has been steadily catching up to boxing in terms of combat sport films. While there are plenty of action films that utilize the practice, boxing has been able to capitalize on more character dramas, especially since Rocky hit the scene (no pun intended). While there have been movies like Warrior and Bruised that have showcased mixed martial arts in dramatic films, the popular UFC brand has been geared more towards popcorn movies like Here Comes the Boom and the upcoming Road House remake. The producers of Hereditary are now set to make a UFC-based drama where two Mma fighters, who fight for their own reasons, find themselves on a collision course.
Variety reports that Lupita Nyong’o and Chloe Grace Moretz will star in Strawweight as UFC fighters. The synopsis is said to “follow the journeys of two fighters who find themselves competing against each other in the Octagon. One...

Contrary to what children of the '90s might assume, "Monkey Man" is not a feature-length film about the "mystery wrapped in an enigma" that is the Hillwood vigilante Monkeyman from "Hey Arnold," as awesome as that sounds. It's actually something even cooler, believe it or not: an original starring vehicle for Dev Patel, who's only one of the most exciting actors currently doing it. Things had gone radio silent for several years on the news front surrounding the film, only for Universal to nonchalantly drop its trailer online near the end of January, sending the internet into a riotous frenzy at the sight of Patel going full John Wick on a seemingly never-ending parade of goons in Mumbai. (Not to mention by far the best use of a tuk-tuk in a movie this side of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.")

Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air” is the third collaboration from the team behind HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.” Trio Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Steven Spielberg produced the nine-part World War II epic series, which spotlights the men who fought in the 8th Air Force, specifically the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The vivid and vital story finds roots in the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
The crew of a typical Eighth Air Force heavy bomber plane included ten men — a pilot and his co-pilot flying the B17, the navigator and the bombardier in the machine’s nose, the flight engineer behind the pilot, the radio operator, two waist gunners, a ball turret gunner and a tail gunner. Not to mention the men who strategized from the bases, the plane engineers and Tuskegee airmen or Royal Airforce pilots who feature in this story.

At the risk of sounding glib, nobody plays a freak quite like Barry Keoghan.
Over the course of his still nascent career, Keoghan has established himself as a performer who thrives at playing outcasts and outsiders, men branded as weirdos by both the audience and the people around them. The Irish actor can play a normal person if he wants — he first gained recognition as the likable young kid who dies a tragic death in “Dunkirk,” and he’s one of the best things about the otherwise disastrous Marvel film “Eternals” — but more off-kilter parts are really where he shines. The guiding star for his film image is the 2017 movie that really first garnered him American recognition, “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” In Yorgos Lanthimos’ off-putting and icy thriller, Keoghan plays an awkward young man who inserts himself into the life of a cardiac surgeon (Colin Farrell) and wreaks havoc on his family.

The Allure of Medieval Cinema There’s something timelessly fascinating about the medieval era in cinema. It’s a realm where chivalry, battles for thrones, and quests for honor are depicted with such fervor that they captivate audiences across generations. Opposable Thumbs: How Siskel & Ebert Changed Movies Forever by Matt Singer (G.P. Putnam’s Sons)
As an adolescent in the early 1990s, one of my Sunday night rituals was recording that week’s episode of “Siskel & Ebert”––it aired late-night in Buffalo, NY––and watching it the following day. Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. If you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

Emerald Fennell's new film "Saltburn" is about a lonely young college student named Oliver (Barry Keoghan) who does a small favor for a wildly handsome classmate named Felix (Jacob Elordi), who, in exchange, offers Oliver a trip to his palatial estate. While there, Oliver falls into the dark psychological hole ordinarily occupied by the morals-free idle rich. The parties get wilder and wilder, and Oliver gets pulled deeper and deeper into Felix's world.
"Saltburn" is just the latest film on Keoghan's filmography wherein he plays an intense soul or deeply weird creep. Keoghan has proven to be something of an institution in recent years, having appeared in "The Batman" (as the Joker), "The Killing of a Sacred Deer," "Dunkirk," "The Green Knight," "Eternals," and "The Banshees of Inisherin." When Keoghan appears on screen, you know that things are about to get sweaty. He is proving to be one of...

Oscar-winning writer/director Emerald Fennell bowled audiences over with A Proming Young Woman, her intelligent, taut thriller directorial debut. This year, Emerald Fennell brings us Saltburn, a star-studded dark comedy dealing with the British class divide and privilege, with an unsettling, horror film slant. Even the film’s Gothic script title treatment sets the mood for this contemporary twisty thriller.
Set in the mid-2000s, Saltburn stars Barry Keoghan as Oliver Quick, a bright scholarship student at Oxford who is eager to fit in socially with the upper crust as succeed academically. The academics are easy for Oliver, but social class aspirations are another matter. Finding himself on the outside, persistent Oliver eventually is befriended by handsome, charming, aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), one of the most popular students at his college. When Felix learns the working-class lad has nowhere to go for the summer break,...
