The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Make no mistake judging by the rating
I am a fan of the original trilogy, it was released when I was a teenager, and it was something really novel. Idea, cinematic everything was novel. Was I disappointed with the new Matrix? No, the plot is really crazy even better than the original has. Is overall movie better than the previous three? Probably not, but it's very decent, it's way better the current 5.8 rating. It should be 6.5+ for sure. Previously Shang-Chi got 7.5, but if you compare one to another, Matrix will win every category. Performance is better, plot is better, everything is better, yet rating is lower. I bet fans of the original trilogy became old and grumpy and put such low rating in comparison with the original trilogy. Overall, it's a very decent movie, definitely worth to watch.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Disappointment
People voted 8-10, rly? For what? Story line is primitive and the gaps filled with some martial arts. "and the Legend of the Ten Rings" there was no any legend at all, just rings which give some super powers we see them in the begging of the movie and at the end. Producers added Ben Kingsley and Benedict Wong to tailor Shang-Chi to other MCU movies, but it feels so disconnected like Billy Bob Thornton as a Santa in Bad Santa. Michelle Yeoh is playing Crouching Tiger again, it's so SAD that Hollywood does not give her non-kung-fu roles, she has talent for sure.
In short, after 1hr I started to check my watch because the whole thing was so boring I just wanted it to end.
Cry Macho (2021)
Eastwood's classic
Clint Eastwood continues to surprise, in his nineties he creates a very solid movie and performs as a leading actor. Funny enough, but his current roles are sort of a continuation of the roles from 70ies and 80ies. Mike Milo looks a grown old tough guy Dirty Harry. In Cry Macho Eastwood explores the relationship between abandoned son, his mother and his not-so-very honest father. The movie reminded me of Eastwood's Gran Torino. Cry Macho has the same atmosphere, yet the plot is reversed, now parents are on the bad side not children.
It's a very fine movie.
