Blue Bloods (2010)
Enjoy the family dinners, and the religion (I'm not Catholic)
My sister and I watch and discuss this series every Friday. We absolutely love the family dinners. So incredibly nice to see a family that all love and respect each other. Although challenges to their faith are often brought up - usually from questioning by the two sons. They make it clear that keeping faith takes work.
I am not Catholic -- but I still very much appreciate their efforts. (Although I admit their attempts to depict other religions positively - is a hard go for them!)
I'm looking forward to what script changes may be made - with the appointment of Bratton, our new police commissioner.
(St. Vincent's Hospital is still open in this drama - ah, if only it were so.)
Mozart in Salzburg (2006)
Wonderful documentary. Missed beginning. Please rebroadcast!
I was lucky enough to view this on CUNY TV - after just watching AMADEUS. This is a wonderful prequel to that great movie. This documentary is extremely well done, great music (of course) with fascinating insights about the life of Mozart. (At least for someone not too familiar with the details).
Alas I missed the beginning - I tuned into the rebroadcast - and unfortunately the recording was garbled, and the screen went blank often.
I so very much want to see this in its entirety I am praying it will be rebroadcast soon!
Paradise Road (1997)
Masterpiece
This is as great as almost any movie I have seen. I cannot imagine why it is not more known. There was not a single false note. The performances were totally right. The photography is beautiful.
One reviewer gave the details of the actual historic event. And the Japanese in this movie are not as cruel. So I am guessing - this movie is meant to be healing. Toward the end there is an exchange between Glen Close and "Daisy/Margaret" - Margaret says "I can't bring myself to hate people. The worse they act - the more sorry for them I feel"
In the end - it is forgiveness and redemption (not hatred) that are the message. The amazing strength of the human spirit to transcend.
