Hitman: Agent 47 (2015)
Inaccuracy on U.S. Marines
Just like every other movie that has U. S. Marines in it, This one shows improper wear of uniforms and addressing people by the wrong rank. It is really annoying when the screen writers and directors don't take the time to check. It only takes a few minutes to have a Marine review that portion of the script so you can get it right. Contact a military technical advisor for advice and support. It makes a huge difference. If you need assistance there are many veterans in the screen writers guild and other parts of the industry. There are also veterans that would be happy to help just for accuracy.
Joe Pickett (2021)
Good show but it's off on the details
The storyline is good, but there are some details that detract from the overall experience and make it somewhat frustrating. For example, the portrayal of the state game warden's job is inaccurate. In reality, a state game warden has more jurisdiction than a sheriff, so it's incorrect for the characters to continuously belittle his job. Additionally, the computer-animated animals are not of the best quality. There's also a misidentification of a cow elk as a male, which is an obvious mistake since male elks would have had antlers during the fall apple season. These inaccuracies and inconsistencies can be annoying and take away from the enjoyment of the story.
Submission (2019)
Military consultant needed
With 23 years of service in the Marines, it disappoints me when writers and directors overlook consulting a military advisor. Paying attention to the small details can greatly enhance a movie's accuracy and entertainment value. Consulting with a military advisor would improve accuracy, as it is important to know that Marines do not use O'six thirty like other branches of service. These nuances uniquely differentiate us from other branches. It is also important to note that we never have our shirts untucked. If you need advice on military terminology or culture, please don't hesitate to contact me - I am more than happy to help.
NCIS: Los Angeles: The Other Shoe (2023)
Another military reference mistake
Admiral Kilbride makes reference to being on the Marine Corps boxing team, during the Vietnam War, on the USS Iwo Jima. If the writers did their research or asked a military consultant for assistance they would know that the Marine Corps does not have Admirals. Admirals are in the Navy and Coast Guard so how exactly was the Admiral on the Marine Corps boxing team? Was he prior enlisted? I guess it's plausible to start off as an enlisted Marine during the Vietnam War, rise through the ranks, transfer to the Navy and reach the rank of Admiral. It would be a rare achievement but it could happen. I just wish.
Physical: 100 (2023)
Terrible translation
Come on Netflix you can find better voice-over actors than this. Even Google translate can do a better job compared to the translation in this series. Voice over was limited to small vocabulary of words that makes this unbearable to watch and constantly repeating the same words.
This could have been a great series, showing the physicality, strength, power, endurance and agility of different athletes. I still watched just to see the competition but the horrible translation is comical. I hope if they do a similar show or another season, they can have actual translations. Not a made up, "what do think they're saying?" Script.
Redemption Day (2021)
Another botched Hollywood Military movie
With the internet and social media, it doesn't take much research to find out or even reach it to veterans or active duty personnel to find out the rules and regulations within the military. They were three mistakes within the first three minutes and I had to stop watching. Do your homework writers and directors, you missed the mark on this one! Get some military consultants to help you. There are plenty of them associated with the Writer's Guild.
Yellowstone: Grass on the Streets and Weeds on the Rooftops (2022)
Military advisor needed
Military advisor needed during Kayce's flashbacks from Afghanistan. Marines wear a distinct camouflage that separates them from the other branches of the military. In this episode the camouflage uniform matches a uniform that would be worn by the Army or a foreign military, not a U. S. Marine.
Virgin River: Spare Parts and Broken Hearts (2021)
Use a military advisor
Marine Sergeant is wearing uniform wrong and not within grooming standards. Introducing himself as Staff Sergeant.
S.W.A.T.: Buried (2021)
Wrong again
Another reference to being a medic in the Marines. Get it right Hollywood! Hire a military tech advisor, the Marines do not have medics.
Mile 22 (2018)
Military misrepresentation
Marines are not wearing uniforms properly. Not within USMC grooming standards and no uniformity. They obviously did not consider a military technical advisor.
Gemini Man (2019)
Too much CGI
Too much CGI for a movie that doesn't need it. Sometimes, less is more and this movie would have been better without it.
The Old Guard (2020)
Lack of military consultation
As normal, Hollywood's inaccuracy of military technical expertise is seen within the first 25 minutes.
MacGyver: Red Cell + Quantum + Cold + Committed (2020)
Military Uniform errors
Both the General and Major rank insignia are not properly placed. General's ribbons are out of order.
Santa Clarita Diet: Zombody (2019)
Tommy Sniper
This episode mentions that Tommy, the previous Knight of Serbia in the area, was a Marine sniper, but he was actually an Army sniper, in previous episodes.
Barry: Chapter One: Make Your Mark (2018)
Lack of military advisor for details
Lack of military advisor on set is shown in the details. Immediately, within 2 minutes of first episode, I noticed Barry's Marine Corps ribbon rack was upside down, showing Purple Heart and Bronze Star on the bottom, when they should be on top.
The Last Ship (2014)
Another goof
Slater is supposed to be an admiral in S5E4, but he's wearing the rank of commander.
