Immaculate (2024)
Missed the mark
I went in to this movie not really knowing to expect. I was kind of hoping for a more demonic presence and for the movie to be more suspenseful and scary, but also didn't hate the way it ended!
But I was definitely expecting it to be a bit more, I feel like they played it safe - even though it was quite gory! The twist was a surprise I didn't see coming, but knew he was bad all along 🙈
Sydney Sweeney was amazing and is proving she can play any role thrown at her!
I would have loved to see what happened to her in the end, did she make it out and get help because she was basically rotting from the insides out.
Players (2024)
Predictable but enjoyable
I think you figure out within the first few minutes how this romcom is going to end, but it was a fun and cute journey to watch it get there!
All the characters had great chemistry, each with their own quirks and the jokes weren't overdone. Usually in a rom com there would be a couple of side characters I wouldn't particularly like but I ended up falling in love with all of them!
Gina Rodriguez is amazing as per usual. You were rooting for her to get her happy ending the whole time.
It's obviously not going to win any Oscar's, but it ticked all my boxes and I finished it with a smile and will most definitely watch it again in the future!
High School (2022)
Didn't want it to end!!
Gotta admit, the first few episodes I struggled to fully commit to High School but as soon as they found Patrick's guitar I was hooked!!
When I was a teenager I discovered music and I also played the guitar and was a bit of an outcast at school so really feel like I just connected with this show.
Now I'm a married mum, with my own home and feeling like I need to dust off my guitar and go and listen to some of my old favourite emo/punk pop music 😂
I really hope they announce a second season as I was quite emotional once this first season finished 🙈 and I was really hoping they'd wow all their school peers with their performance!!
Stranger Things: Chapter Nine: The Piggyback (2022)
Ahhhmazing
I definitely overhyped this and read too many theories about how Will was going to turn evil or the school councillor was somehow under Vecna's spell and provided insight for his victims. So while I was disappointed there wasn't some kind of twist ending, I left feeling very satisfied at how it did end - and cannot wait for season 5!
RIP Eddie, that was such a hard scene to watch especially when he became one of my favourite characters in such a small amount of screen time.
Excited to see what's in store for Max, poor girl has had it rough!
And if Dr Brenner is still somehow alive again after we still don't know how he survived the demogorgon attack, I will riot 😂
Snowflake Mountain (2022)
Why all the hate?
I've watched my fair share of realty tv and this was a breathe of fresh air - if you can make it past the first 2 episodes!
Stick it out.
There's drama, but not against each contestant.
There's laughs.
There's challenges.
And most of all, there's growth!!
It was really nice to watch everyone go from a 'spoilt brat' to actually being them true selves.
But that's just my opinion 🙃
How I Met Your Father (2022)
You know it's bad when....
You're rooting for the ex-girlfriend aka Leighton Meester!
I was more intrigued with her character than any of the 'main cast'.
I knew it would never live up to HIMYM which was so original back in the day.
But there's just no chemistry between any of the characters and the humour just fell flat. As much as I love Hilary Duff, I just don't think she's suited for comedy.
HIMYF definitely doesn't have any of the charm that I was hoping for.
*Although the one positive feedback I do have is that it was smart not to show Sophie's future son's face. It could reveal who the father is if the son is biracial or also just in case it does get picked up for a few more seasons (highly unlikely I think though 🙈) and the kid ages.
Old (2021)
Surprisingly enjoyable!
Gotta admit, after watching a lot of M Night Shyamalan's movies and being disappointed with the ending, I didn't have high hopes for this movie!
But he actually tied up most of the loose ends and I felt like this was a very satisfying ending compared to what he usually does!
It was no masterpiece, but it was quite fun watching the process of everyone aging and trying to work out why they're actually on the island.
I would give it more of a 7/10 but feel like the rating needs to go up a bit on IMDb.
The Weekend Away (2022)
Enjoyable
Honestly wouldn't rate it 10/10 but this film is really not that bad - definitely deserves a higher rating!
Sure, the acting isn't the best. Leighton is likeable and you're rooting for her the whole way. Her *fight* scenes are pretty weak but also, this was never going to be a masterpiece!
It was a really good 'Who did it' thriller which will keep you second guessing who killed her friend the whole way through (mind you I guessed the ending hehe)
Give it a go and don't take it too seriously!
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
A+++++
Wow. I was super excited to see this, maybe because it was the first movie I was going to see at a cinema in over a year; maybe because I had heard about the possibility of the two other spidey's making an appearance.
But this movie exceeded my expectations!!!
Sorry for the spoilers but I need to get this out haha.
That first reveal literally made me smack my husband with joy! Then the second made my heart do a little leap! AND THEN seeing them all interact with each other was pure magic!
The ending was heartbreaking, and I would love to see how it all affected the other universes after they cured the villains instead of defeated them!
And after May, I really wanted Peter 1 to have a happy ending as he's definitely become my favourite Spider-Man.
Cannot wait to see what they do next!
Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas (2021)
Yay
So glad to see ZEP back in action!
It had all the charm, emotions and character as the series - just with a whole lot of Christmas!
Tied up some of the loose ends while still leaving so many options open for more to come, which I hope it does!!
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Zoey's Extraordinary Goodbye (2021)
Yesss
After a killer first few episodes, a few averages ones thrown in the middle, I'm soooo glad my favourite show finished strong!!!
It was implied by the previous episode who Zoey's heart belonged to, but I was so relieved they didn't draw the love triangle throughout the whole episode! They ripped the bandaid off pretty quickly for Zoey and Simon but it was done maturely and with no hard feelings which was so lovely to see!
And even though I guessed Max was singing about Zoey at the airport, that final scene blew me away! Not with the surprise twist, but just to see Max and Zoey come together knowing they need to be open and honest for their relationship to work.
So many new possibilities for season 3! How can this show not be renewed?!?!
The Handmaid's Tale: Chicago (2021)
FINALLY!
So I was a huge fan of the first two seasons, then the third one dragged out and I felt like June was always just going to be making back and forth attempts to leave, then stay at Gillead.
This season started off great and I was excited to see what would happen with McKenna Grace's involvement but that fizzled out pretty quickly!
This episode wasn't the greatest, I'm really sick of the commanders and Aunt Lydia, i feel like we need to move on from focusing on them and wrap up this whole story. But that last 30 seconds of this episode makes it feel like we're FINALLY getting somewhere!!!
Follow Me (2020)
Entertaining even though I called it
I guessed the ending from the start and so I basically watched the whole movie thinking I knew the ending and was able to see how they baited Keegan's character every step of the way.
Still entertaining! Wish they showed more of the setup and how things ended for him. Did he end up going to jail?
His mates are idiots for thinking he wouldn't be traumatised and take things too far after witnessing his friends and girlfriend be 'murdered' in a foreign country.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Debbie (2020)
Skip it
As soon as I saw the actress who plays Debbie face pop up in 99, I knew she was only going to bring the show down. Gina was irritable by the end of her time but Debbie is terrible and this episode was just unnecessary.
The Sinner: Part VIII (2020)
What a waste
Kept expecting some huge twist because this season was SO BORING. Do not bother watching.
I See You (2019)
Expecting a Horror movie...
But this was just as good! Totally unexpected storyline when I was ready for ghosts and demons. Very good twists and kept you guessing until the very end!
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Zoey's Extraordinary Dad (2020)
Just wow.
I knew what was coming. I think we all did.
But it was done with such class, such emotion and really paid tribute to everyone in this amazing series.
I honestly expected a happy ending but wasn't mad with the way it ended. I just can't believe it's over...hopefully a second season will come soon!!
Middleditch & Schwartz (2020)
Not usually a fan butttttt
I was in stitches the whole time!! Very quick witted and they really bounced off each other with their comedic styles!
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Zoey's Extraordinary Glitch (2020)
All the feels!
I was so excited for this episode and it did not disappoint! I laughed, screamed and cried and it was a wild ride! Can't wait to see what's next!
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Zoey's Extraordinary Night Out (2020)
I cannot keep waiting!!
I am fully addicted to this show! I keep binge watching the first few episodes and it just keeps getting better and better. And we're only half way through!!!
It's just super annoying that we have to wait each week for new episodes 😂
Soundtrack (2019)
Off Beat
I really wanted to love this. I tried!
Storyline is interesting enough, but the more I get to know the characters the less I like them.
And I know this is the 'soundtrack' to their lives, but the music seems to come in at weird times and it doesn't really flow together with the storyline.
Not to mention that when they try to mix the songs together, it doesn't sound good at all IMO.
Go watch Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist for a happier experience!
Isn't It Romantic (2019)
LOL
This movie definitely deserves more than a 6.2!
It wasn't a 10, but it was cute and funny and it was meant to be cringey!
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Forever a favourite
Such a good rom com!
I've watched it soooo many times and somehow enjoy it more each time. It is up in my top 5 of favourite movies!
The cast all had great chemistry, the humour was on point and this was the movie where everyone fell in love with Heath Ledger. RIP.
And I still quote from this movie all the time lol
Bird Box (2018)
Could have been amazing!!
After all the hype, I finally decided to watch Bird Box. I was excited to find out what the creatures were, why they came and why some people were 'immune' to them. But you don't get any answers.
The acting and suspense were amazing, but just a lot of missing things that could have made this movie great.
Searching (2018)
Wow!
What a fantastic movie!!
I thought the fact that they were using 'screens' as the camera would be a let down but that just added to the suspense!
Highly recommend!
