Servant (2019)
Unhinged and Underrated
Holy cow, it is amazing. The last 6 episodes were insane! The character development is great. Enjoying the slow build. Can't wait for the next season.
The Cider House Rules (1999)
Dramatic muscle
I saw this movie many years ago (I think in the theater) and remembered really enjoying it. After watching it again, I still really liked the story.
There's not really much to say about this movie other than the fact that it is extremely solid.
Everything about it is good and it's hard to find many flaws at all in this film. Perfectly cast and well-acted, the story, emotion, score, acting...it was all right on, especially the script and performance by Michael Caine, both of which won Oscars. It's a really relaxing movie with beautiful scenery and soundtrack. Overall, this is a touching movie that I recommend to everyone.
The Child in Time (2017)
Strange Movie
Based on a novel by Ian McEwan, the subject matter of the movie is not an easy one.
Benedict Cumberbatch was really good in this. I applaud anything that takes on difficult subject matters, but it was a very strange movie and the plot was a little jagged in edges. I couldn't grasp where it was going or why. The unevenness of it makes it a tough one to rate and review. It was unsettling to watch and sometimes just plain odd.
The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)
Better than Snakes on a Plane
If you enjoy impressive action sequences and limited comedy, then this is the movie for you.
Gary Oldman was awesome, but The Hit-man's Bodyguard is mostly glued by the banter of Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. Their chemistry is good but it never amounts to what it should. Safe and forgettable plot, a bit tedious at times. Just watch it for the action.
Bowie: The Man Who Changed the World (2016)
Overall Very Good. Like it
It starts out with a Bowie interview in the 70's with the interview guy giving Bowie a real hard time about going back to England and how things would be so different. Then they talk about how Bowie felt very removed from his family. He said "I have to get out of this house". Most interesting thing I took from it is when they talk about his struggles to make it.
I gave this a score of 8 and would 've given it 10 out of 10 stars only it didn't have the music. It would've been so cool if they had the original Bowie songs in there. That was the only thing I didn't like. Maybe the lack of original songs indicates a copyright approval issue. They may have not wanted to pay the royalties, or they could have just been flat out turned down by the label owners.
Anyhow, I'm a huge Bowie fan and have been for over 30 years. His passing floored the majority of music lovers, but his memory will live forever.
Overall very good and recommend you see this one.
