Midsomer Murders (1997)
Everytime at least three murders; lazy sound design
I am watching the show for two weeks now, starting with season 1, episode 1 and I have to say that there are some episodes that are really interesting and entertaining, whereas at other times they are just dragging on for a long time. Fun fact, almost every episode has at least three murders, often four. At times the fourth can be stopped by the police (mostly Barnaby) at the last possible moment.
I have to specially mention the sound design. Whoever is/was in charge from season 3 on, is a lazy fellow. It doesn't matter, whether day or night, where-ever in Midsomer, there is ALWAYS the same sound made by a Bird (an owl, a crow?) and a Fox. Sure, you want to add some atmosphere in post production, but the same sound files every time and nonstop throughout every episode? Oh my god, I start to get an allergic reaction to these repetitive sound files. Shame on you!
Also, from Season 3 on we are in the 2000's. One has to wonder, where and when one would ever see a foreign face anywhere in this show. No Asians, no Middle Easterners, no British Africans? I have seen one darker skinned person I believe in Season 5, when there was a Hippie parade walking through some village. One could see the face for about 5 seconds. Again, shame on you. Is this the idea of a CLEAN British show? No foreigners that would mud the picture? I give 5 stars, because some episode are good to very good and some are bad, so right through the middle.
S.W.A.T.: 3 Seventeen Year Olds (2020)
Something to remind you that all is not good
I thought this episode was well executed. Despite some other reviews stating that this is a leftist agenda episode, it's not. Since the MAGA years even more so than before, it is automatically left-wing, leftist or extreme left, when you just show the truth. Police shows have the responsibility to point out, what is right with the system, but also what is wrong with it.
Way too many white folks don't even know what it means to be a black person in the US. I am white, but I might have a little idea, as my late wife was black. I could see how she was treated differently than me, solely based on her skin color. An episode like this is hard to swallow, but nevertheless enjoyable, if you watch it with an awake mind.
