Sophie Trailer - Starring Alex Lombard and Jonathan Groff
"Sophie" marks Alex Lombard's directorial debut. It is a film about expectation, risk and reckoning. It follows a man's journey from the straight and narrow path to the downward spiral of delusion. With slight of hand, it plays with the notion of protagonist and antagonist. It deals with issues of authority and self-governing. The narrative creeps to the edge of a cliff and as the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, it drops the viewer over the edge. At once, the reckoning comes too late, but it does indeed come and at a very high price.
"Sophie" was shot on location in downtown Los Angeles. Angel's Knoll Park, the same park that was used in the film "500 Days of Summer" was used for the park scenes. The historic Junipero Serra Building, built in 1914 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a "contributing building" in the Broadway Commercial and Theater District was used for the office scenes. The house used was a traditional America Craftsman style house.
