- In the 1990s, playwright David Ives wrote an homage titled "Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread." It consists of Philip entering a bakery and having a conversation with the owner and two female customers. However, the dialog is split up and repeated constantly among the four characters, creating an effect similar to the repetitive rhythms of Glass's music.
