- After numerous failed attempts to commit suicide, our hero (Lloyd) runs into a lawyer who is looking for a stooge to stand in as a groom in order to secure an inheritance for his client (Davis). The inheritance is a house, which her scheming uncle "haunts" so that he can scare them off and claim the property.—Herman Seifer <alagain@aol.com>
- A girl has just inherited her grandfather's vast estate on the caveat that she and her husband live in the family mansion for at least one year following the execution of the will. If that condition is not met, the estate is instead deeded to the girl's uncle. The problem for the girl is that she isn't married and has no husband on the horizon. Enter a boy who has had his heart just broken by the hand of the girl he loved - at least the latest girl he loved - being betrothed to his rival. As such, the boy has tried to commit suicide. The girl and boy are brought together in matrimony by the girl's lawyer to cure each of their respective ills. Their matrimony may have some bumps, of the "in the night" variety, as their wedding night is in the seemingly haunted mansion, at least that's what her uncle would like them to believe.—Huggo
