Scream: Legacy (2022)
Fine but nothing to Scream about.
Scream Legacy is a fan film that debuted on Youtube. With fan films they can be a major plus since many are done with passion and love for the material they are based on. In this case the Scream series. Legacy is a alright film. I was not blown away by it but its better than a lot of major horror films I seen. Its about Katie Palmer who is the daughter of Sydney Prescott, being stalked by a new killer in a Ghostface mask. Bodies and blood follow.
Scream Legacy is pretty average. Its not great, its not bad. Its watchable. But for a low budget fan service film, its pretty well done for what it is.
They Turned Us Into Killers (2024)
Really Lame
They Turned Us Into Killers is a total mess of a film.
Its stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Taryn Manning and Lauren Francesca. The films says it says Kane Hodder and Michael Berryman. Kane Hodder is not in the film despite being third billed. The film uses footage from another film called Room 9 which this is a sequel to. Michael Berryman is not in the film at all. There is a picture of him and thats it.
The film is about a young woman played by Scout Taylor-Compton who is getting revenge on a few guys who she blames for the death of her best friend. Its a really boring film thats a real chore to sit through. Bummer because I thought this was actually going to be good. Its one of the my least favorite films of the year so far.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
A solid Saw film but very flawed.
I watched Spiral again. I pretty much have the same reaction as I did the other times I seen it. I really much like the first hour or so of the film. Despite the oddly cast Chris Rock, Spiral is is a very grim, dark and entertaining thriller. And I note its more of a thriller this time around than horror like the other nine films. For me it works.
Where it goes south is the last twenty minutes or so. When he find out who the killer is, it is way too obvious and not surprising at all. And the lat minute is just rather weird. Zeke watches his father die at the hands of the cops and sees that Schenk has escaped on a elevator. The film ends. OK but where and when will he get off? Its a elevator not a plane. He has to get off sometime and somewhere in the building. The film acts like hes getting off scott free. Its a bummer because there is a lot I liked in this film. The ending kinda ruins it.
Camp Blood 666 Part 2: Exorcism of the Clown (2023)
Really bad but I seen worse.
The funny thing about the infamous Camp Blood series is that I do like the first two films of the series. They are very low budget slasher flicks that are pretty enjoyable. Part III is OK as well. The rest have been bad at best and really terrible at worst.
The newest Camp Blood film called Camp Blood 666 Part II Exorcism of the Clown, is not the worst of the seines but it still is really bad. It involves a cult and not one but two psycho killer clowns. Its a poorly made mess. The clown(s) go against a church group on the camp grounds of Camp Blood. Chaos ensues. The gore is very low budget looking. Nothing great here.
The Insurrection (2020)
Propaganda disguised as a action movie.
The Insurrection is a pathetic film that is mainly a bunch of dialog about conspiracy theories. The directer could have just done a documentary but its a really terrible propaganda with a bunch of lousy action scenes in it.
Its about a politically liberal woman who wants to pull the plug on liberal conspiracies so she hires a ex con to protect her while she gives interviews. Im guessing its just things that goes against the filmmakers beliefs. Its like a movie that does not want us to watch movies. Mainstream ones anyway. The woman is pretty hard to understand because of her strong accent. Why give her the important dialog?
I really hated this film. Even ramblings of extreme conservatives or liberals on Youtube would be better than this. Its a film with a agenda. And why is Micheal Pare in this film for?
A Taste of Praise (2023)
Absolute Grade Z Junk
A Taste of Praise is a film that belongs in the class of horribly bigoted and stupid films. Much like Audacity, Accidental Activist and Right To Believe this film is another story of bigotry but the film sides with the prejudice ones.
Its based on a true case of a gay couple wanting a cake from a bakery but the baker does not approve of gay couples because of his religion. I thought its weird that in the film the main baker has tattoos. I guess he just cherry picks the Bible. Granted he could of got those before he found his religion but why show them off or not get them remove if hes so strict? Basically this film goes where you think it will. Its a persecution complex film. I felt nothing for the lead protagonist though. This is the biggest 'Who Cares?' film you could imagine. Its also funny that dramatic music plays anytime the baker is told something about gays.
A Tate of Praise is a horribly anti gay bigoted trashy piece of junk that takes pride in its bigotry. Or maybe this was a tool to convert people to atheism. Well its good to be laughed though.
Saw III (2006)
A Strong Saw
I first saw Saw 3 shortly after my 18th birthday in 2006. I loved it. My friend worked at the theater at the Mall of America so he got to keep a lot of the posters. He gave me a large poster of Saw 3 which still hangs in my parents garage.
But anyways as for the film, I credit Saw 3 as the most disturbing of the Saw series. The scenes with the girl freezing in the meat locker, Eric Mathews smashing his foot and the guy ripping chain from his flesh all really got to me. Also the legendary Rack scene. I am not easily disturbed. I can take a lot. And I highly enjoy gore and gross stuff. But Saw 3 is a rare film that really disturbs me and I respect that.
Also I find it interesting that there are 3 versions of this film. Theatrical witch runs 108 minutes. Unrated which runs 113 minutes. The Directors Cut witch runs 121 minutes. I have all three versions. I recommend the Directors Cut. It has a fight scene and a slightly different ending.
So basically Saw 3 is a very good Saw film. Not as the good as the first two but still a fine sequel.
Story of Eva (2015)
A Lame Revenge Film.
I like revenge films. Kill Bill and the first four Death Wish films I love. This is a revenge film I did not like much at all.
It has a mother (Eva) whos daughter gets murdered and she goes after the guy who did it and his associates. But it gets really nuts. Eva gets dressed up and goes on weird rants. Then she brings her victims to her basement and tortures them. Its a bizarre mess. Unless you like tasteless S&M gear there is not much to see in this lame revenge flick. Plus its rather poorly directed as well.
Eric Roberts co stars as a cop but sadly he could not save this film from being really dumb.
Half Sisters (2023)
Half Sisters. Whole Stupid.
The plot of this film is not bad. Its about two half sisters (one of which was abused by her grandma) visiting their childhood farmhouse two scatter the ashes of their grandma ad collect their inheritance which is hidden in the house somewhere. Two armed masked psychos are planning to find it first. It seems it would be like somewhat decent home invasion film butit gets so dumb with turns it takes. The dumbest thing to me is that when the sisters are in danger and cant call the police, all one has to do is take off her ankle security bracelet. However she wont do that because she would be a real criminal then. So shes going to risk her and her sisters life to not be a criminal. This is just so stupid.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Disappointed
Wow. This was a major disappointment. I dont know much about the video game but it has to be better than this film. I thought this was going to be simple evil animatronics going around killing. But I guess thats what Willy's Wonderland is. I like that film far better. Much of the screen time of this film is dedicated to the drama of the main characters (played by Josh Hutcherson) family drama and how his younger brother went missing. Its almost more a domestic drama than a horror film. The whole film is rather a bore. Theres not even much of Freddy or the other animatronic animals. I was expecting more from this film.
A Karate Christmas Miracle (2019)
One of the worst Christmas film ever.
I seen some bad ones over the years Christmas with a Capital C, Last Ounce of Courage and the ultimate classic Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas.
But this film is called A Karate Christmas Miracle from 2019. Its a film done by the same guy who did The Life Zone and Cries of the Unborn. Two films where he heros of the films kidnap woman and force them to birth.
A Karate Christmas Miracle "stars" Eric Roberts and Martin Cove. Well not really. Footage of them was taken from other films. Mainly Jokers Poltergeist (aka Jokers Wild). The film is about a young boy who does Karate named Jesse Genesis plans to get his father back (whether hes kidnapped or dead is debatable) by Christmas by doing 10 things on a list he has. His dad was murdered(?) by a guy in a clown mask at a movie theater called Aura Palace. Jessie's mom, Abby Genesis is in contact with Elizabeth who is a former psychic. Much of the film is Abby and Elizabeth talking back and forth about the missing or possibly murdered father. Also theres a side plot with Martin Cove giving the movie theater where the massacre took place to his daughter but somehow they say she earned it but it was a gift at the same time. Eric Roberts appears once in a while but its all footage from Jokers Poltergeist. Confused? I think everyone who made this film and watched this film got confused.
In short its a family film that involves a killer clown and the people giving over a missing father. Great family film huh? This film is a total mess. Its outrageously terribly made. However its a horribly fun time. If you want to be amazed at a bad Christmas film check this Christmas crap out.
Dirty Fears (2020)
A Outrageously Awful Film
A nameless escaped mental patient takes control of a mountain motel and invites women up there under false pretenses. He terrorizes and plans to murder them. Much of this film is the crazy guy just being nutty. Sniffing shoes, terrorizing girls with a ax and stands around naked. One woman paints blacks marks on her face for some reason and she has that paint on heer face for the rest of the film. Not sure what that had to do with anything. Michael Madsen is the mental guys psychiatrist. Hurts to see him in this. Hes great in Reservoir Dogs and The Hateful Eight and now hes in this film. Thats a bummer. Also Eric Roberts shows up about a hour in. Hes trying but also its sad to see him in this.
I really, really hated this awful film. I mean wow. This is impressively awful. Its a new edition to my worst 100. Barely anything happens. Just a nutty guy guy and some tied up women. Its absolute junk.
Clerks III (2022)
A very big disappointment after how great the first two are.
I was a huge fan of Kevin Smiths films when I was younger. Clerks 1 and 2, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Mallrats I watched a bunch during my teen years.
Clerks 3 is about Randall having a heart attack and him wanting to make a movie of the adventures they has at the Quickstop over the years.
Watching Clerks 3...was just a total bummer. I did hear this was a little darker, but the first two Clerks films got rather serious at times but had a nice balance of comedy to them. I mean I found really nothing funny here. I was more sad than anything. I mean was there a point to kill off Becky and Dante? What a dark way to end this trilogy. And usually, I like depressing and dark films. So basically, this was major disappointment.
Assassin (2023)
The Last Bruce Willis movie.
Assassin is the last Bruce Willis movie sadly due to his aphasia and dementia. A sad way to end his career. This is a confused, sloppy and poorly directed film about private operation led by Bruce Willis that puts bug like microchips in people and by using an assassin host (Nomzamo Mbatha) she can poses that person and perform a murder. Her target is Dominic Purcell. Bruce Willis is fine here though hes not given much to do. He mainly just gives order but he does get to shoot a lady in one scene so theres that. Best to remember Bruce for the Die Hard films, Pulp Fiction or The Sixth Sense and not his later career.
Scream VI (2023)
A much better film than the last one.
A new Ghostface killer is in town, specifically New York. Ghostface has its eyes again on the Carpenter sisters. No Sydney Prescott this time around and are joined by new nd previous characters like Gale Weathers and Kirby. While its not a great film or as good as the first two Scream films I liked Scream 6 far more than the massively disappointing Scream 5. Its a pretty entertaining and thrilling entry. Plus I liked the two Carpenter sisters far more this time around. I really did not care about them much in the last entry. Also I like all the nods and references to the previous films. Overall its fine Scream film.
Johnny & Clyde (2023)
Absolute Trash
So I watched the newly released Johnny & Clyde and I really cant see myself seeing a film worse than this for the rest of the year. This was insanely bad. Its basically a low budget version of Natural Born Killers. It has a young couple in love going on a killing/crime spree. They get their friends together to knock over a casino owned by Meagan Fox. There is also some kind of evil entity following the main characters around with blades. I dont know this is cluster of nothing.
The film is a total mess of idiots being annoying. And thats the whole film. Idiots killing people and being despicable. Its trash at its worst.
Detective Knight: Independence (2023)
Weak Film.
Second to last of the films of Bruce Willis. This one has a good idea to it. A paramedic who wants to be a cop so he goes on a a vigilante style murder spree. However the film is not done well with Bruce Willis's double being far too obvious. Even the voice dubbing is really off. Plus you can tell Bruce is not even in the same room as his co stars. The whole film is really weak and pretty dumb but I have seen far worse in the Bruce Willis filmography. Its not as bad as Cosmic sin or Fortress: Snipers Eye. But this aint no Die Hard either. The second film in this Detective Knight series was easily the best.
Night (2019)
JUNK
Night is a very dull, horribly filmed and horribly lit film of a guy performing torture and killings online for money.
He abducts a young girl (13 or so) to be tortured online. And thats the problem. I like the disturbing, shocking and crazy aspects of motion pictures but I like actual films with real characters and plots. This film is mostly a very young girl getting beat and cut up for the whole stupid film. Also this film is so horribly made on top of it that there are just parts with nothing going on. Just a dark screen. I admit I just foreword the film to the end. Its a load of first class junk.
Terrifier 2 (2022)
Solid enough sequel.
This film is so nasty there are reports of people vomiting and fainting at theaters. Well, I did not do either, but it is very gory and nasty indeed. Art the Clown is back for more vengeance and carnage as he stalks a girl, her brother and friends. Also he just likes to generally kill anyone else he meets. The deaths are very gruesome but one girl who gets brutalized so badly even got to me. Its a really nutty freakshow of a film that delivers on is nastiness but the one fatal flaw this has is that it really drags at a 2 hour and 18-minute run time. It just feels stretched for no reason. Chris Jericho and Felisa Roe have cameos.
Halloween Ends (2022)
Should Have Been Better
The bid daddy of Halloween horror is back, and its just OK sad to say. Looks like they tried something different with a new story involving a young man named Corey who had a child die (oddly pretty funny) under his care. Its not a bad story but its not really right for the conclusion to the Halloween saga. I kinda get what they were trying to do. Its like how the evil of Michael lives on through other means in the town. Either that or they did just a lousy job on this film. However, it does get really good in the last 15 minutes. Pretty late in the film to show what we have been waiting for though. Its a disappointing but watchable film.
Spirit Halloween (2022)
Spirt Halloween The Store: The Movie
Well its a film based on the ultra cool Halloween store. Its alright but visiting the actual store is much more fun. Its about 4 kids who get themselves locked in the store after hours on Halloween. Not sure why they dont just break a window to get out when trouble starts. The spirit of a evil Christopher Lloyd possess the store items and tries to get the kids. Basically it looks like a big ad for the store but the store (although looks cool) lacks because the big name horror properties are nowhere to be found. However Night of the Living Dead plays on TV but that film is public domain. Rachael Leigh Cook plays the mom. She is still all that!
God's Not Dead 2 (2016)
Awful Film and Pathetic Sequel.
Gods Not Dead is one of if not the worst film I have ever seen. It was a mean spirited work of propaganda. Now here is Gods Not Dead 2. It still has the mean spirit to it but now its possibly even more ignorant.
The main plot involves a teacher named Grace who is being persecuted because of her faith as she answers a question about Jesus in her classroom. Who turned her in? We dont find that out. Grace and her lawyer fight back against the ACLU. This makes no sense because they would be on her side. Why are the ACLU the bad guys here and why do the film makers have a religious vendetta on them? We will never know. They try to prove the exitance of Jesus using authors of Christian books.
The side plots involve David A R White being a jury member and Amy who had cancer in the first film but now that its gone she doubts her faith.
Gods Not Dead 2 is not as bad as the first but its not too far off. Its ignorant and mean spirited. In acts like there is a war (in fact the word "war" is used) between atheists and Christians. Also it has a number to hate group in the end credits!
The Gathering (1998)
Very Generic Rapture Film
The Gathering is as plain and as generic as a rapture film can get. There is nothing clever in it at all. Its a very dull and horribly made film. Its involves multiple characters getting a glimpse of the Biblical rapture. It has one family being divided over the couples faith. This comes off as very troubling and mean spirited. I dont get the appeal of films like this. Its a poorly written film to scare people into joining a certain religion. Most of the characters just argue back and fourth and the outcome is just so incredibly predictable. Also it has visions of the future but nothing really new or interiting happens then either. It also contains a atheist professor much like another awful faith film called Gods Not Dead. Another film series like this is Left Behind. I like to try out faith films but I think they are far better with a positive look on life. This is just a way to freak people out. Its so glum. Another very generic rapture film with two sequels and a even worse remake. Its as plain and dull as a film can get. Is there anything positive I can say about The Gathering? No I can not. Its a depressing propaganda film. Besides its just a scare film.
Gone in the Night (2022)
Winona deserves better.
A womans boyfriend goes missing after spending a night in a cabin with another couple. I really did not like this film. Winona Ryder is the lead but the film treats her (or her character rather) as a old and rather unattractive woman. I thought she looked beautiful in this film. I was surprised she was in this crappy film.
The Lawnmower Man (1992)
Enjoyable but flawed.
The story involves a doctor who specializes in virtual reality finds a new subject. His lawnmower man. He takes him from being slow to being a genius and then it goes too far.
I seen this film before in both Theatrical and Director Cut versions. Its a entertaining and inventive horror/science fiction film. However it does have its flaws. I normally hate the term "dated" but the effects in this film are just that. Not that it bothers me or anything, Im fine with the way it looks. Plus the third act gets crazy. Still its a enjoyable film.
