Drew Gooden put it well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAvs-RqTIhk
And I commented this: Just watched it and I kind of liked it because I disagreed with it. I call it positive provocation. Like, I get it and people can definitely go that way if they want to. But I live in the house I grew up in, with generations of accumulated clutter that I enjoy. You know, old comic books and some guitar and fold-out beds that come in handy when people come to visit. Recently when my mom's radio broke down, I could just dig out another one that's been gathering dust since the '90s, and I still have at least two working radios in the house. Sometimes I get interested in a very specific subject or piece of history and then I find a book about it that's been right there in the bookshelf my entire life. I love that stuff. Doesn't mean I'd cry at the loss of every single thing if the house burned down. I just enjoy it, and I consider myself lucky. Now, I wouldn't have thought of it that way if these TED-guys hadn't been so dismissive of exactly that. Also, I have wallpaper. God bless wallpaper.
