- Founded Onyx Films in 1962 with his brother Pierre. In 1970 Andre Lamy was offered the position of Assistant Film Commissioner at the National Film Board of Canada. He was named NFB commissioner in 1975, overseeing a period of expansion. He became head of the Canadian Film Development Commission (precursor of Telefilm Canada) in 1980.
