London — Pop star Lady Gaga has won an injunction stopping the makers of an online children's game from promoting an animated character called Lady Goo Goo, the company involved said Friday.
British company Mind Candy is behind the Moshi Monsters site, which allows children to adopt a virtual pet monster.
Its characters include Lady Goo Goo, a sunglasses-wearing blonde baby who appears in "The Moshi Dance," a video that became an online hit after it was posted on YouTube in June.
The company had planned to release the song as a single, but this week's British High Court ruling bars it from "promoting, advertising, selling, distributing or otherwise making available to the public" any work involving Lady Goo Goo.
Law firm Mishcon de Reya confirmed it had represented Lady Gaga in the case, but did not give further details.
Mind Candy founder Michael Acton Smith said the ruling was "a huge disappointment.

The Broadway revival of "West Side Story" was greeted with mixed reviews today. This groundbreaking show is the third of four musicals to come back to Broadway this season. As the previous two — "Pal Joey" and "Guys and Dolls" — were also critical disappointments, that means that 1969 also-ran "Hair" could establish itself as the front-runner for best musical revival at the Tony Awards when it opens next week. "West Side Story" has had little luck with the Tonys in its three previous Broadway incarnations.
Back in 1957, this musical updating of "Romeo and Juliet" electrified audiences with its daring blend of song and dance. However, it failed to prevail at the Tony Awards, losing four of its six bids. The two Tonys it did win went to director Jerome Robbins, who picked up the second of an eventual three awards for choreography, and Oliver Smith, who earned the second of his eventual seven awards for scenic design.

Latest: Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky's father will remain in jail for a minimum of 11 days after he was denied bail on felony charges of grievous bodily harm after an altercation at an airport last week (ends01Aug08).
Carl Blonsky was arrested with his daughter following a fight with U.S. reality TV star Bianca Golden on 29 July and both were taken into custody by Turks and Caicos Islands police.
A judge at the Providenciales Magistrates' Court ruled on Friday that Blonsky Sr. must wait until 19 August before he can post bail.
According to Prosecutor Samantha Glinton, Golden's mother Elaine had to be airlifted to a Florida hospital, where she stayed for five days before being released to a neurologist as a result of Blonsky's alleged attack.
Glinton added: "While her (Elaine Golden's) condition has improved, she still has some problems. She is in the healing stage. She has a right cerebral traumatic lesion, according to the report. She has a slurred left side, left side weakness, insomnia, and memory impairment."
Blonsky's lawyer, Oliver Smith, contended prosecutors are "trying to set up a potential lawsuit" by exaggerating Golden's injuries, telling the court: "My client ...is not a wealthy man. He works in a sewage plant. No prior convictions."
The altercation between Blonsky and Golden is alleged to have started in the departure lounge at the Providenciales International Airport after the actress attempted to save seats for her family, and Golden had nowhere to sit.
Nikki Blonsky and former America's Next Top Model contestant Golden remain free on bail.
The actress - who did not attend the hearing - faces a two-year prison spell if she is found guilty of a charge of actual bodily harm, when her case goes to court in December.
Blonsky Sr. could be sentenced to up to five years behind bars if convicted.
Golden's mother Eleine remains in a Miami hospital's Intensive Care Unit (Icu).
