Anime and success go hand in hand, but sometimes, anime and disappointment also co-exist. Studio Eclypse is out there to take away that problem. Some anime come out with so much hype that the fan-following already stands there in full dedication. Some manage to live up to the mark or even surpass it. Others, on the other hand, fail to do so, gradually descending into a downward spiral.

The games of Hidetaka Miyazaki are unique experiences that will take players through not only grand and awe-inspiring locations but also those that embody the sentiments of darkness and decay. His worlds are not ones for the faint of heart, with danger around every corner and death your constant companion.
FromSoftware has mastered the art of creating such worlds, and the studio wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Berserk, one of the most well-known pieces of Japanese media from the mind of Kentaro Miura, is heavily referenced in all of Miyazaki’s games and the same is true for the Dlc.

Almost every mangaka tends to create a specific quality in their protagonists that draws parallels between the main character and the mangaka. However, this was not the case with Kentaro Miura and his masterpiece, Berserk. Miura, once in an interview, revealed that the character that replicated him the most was Pippin.
Guts in Berserk manga | Studio Gaga
Pippin was one of the members of the Band of Falcons who helped Guts escape. He did not speak much, but whenever he did, it would either be a serious discussion or to offer some advice. Pippin had a good relationship with Guts in the series, and the two were called the power duo of Berserk.
According to Miura, when he planned Berserk, he initially thought of only five characters for the series and all of them were based on his friends. However, there were no Guts, Griffith, or Casca in his friend circle,...

Kouji Mori, who also happens to be the late mangaka’s best friend decided to helm on the project in honor of him. The series has some of the most captivating art and storytelling. Nothing was ever as mesmerizing as that of Miura’s art and the stories he told through the series.

Goku’s status as an all-time absent father in Dragon Ball is no surprise. He is far more interested in battles than he is in his marriage and children. In fact, Chi Chi ended up nourishing their children alone most of the times.
On the other hand, Vegeta adores and respects Bulma and develops puppy eyes for his wife and children. Thus, a fan theory suggests that Chi Chi might not have been faithful in her relationship, and had a child with the other Saiyan in the story.

It is a well-known fact that while Goku is a stellar fighter, he is not the best husband. In fact, he might be the worst person to marry. Goku and Chi Chi are rarely seen enjoying their married life in Dragon Ball. Even when they are together, they bicker due to Goku’s lack of responsibility.

Kentaro Miura was one of the most decorated mangaka ever. His creation, Berserk, is one of the most iconic anime in the seinen genre. Unfortunately, he passed away, leaving his magnum opus incomplete. But thankfully, his friend, Kouji Mori, has picked up where he left off. Berserk follows the journey of Guts towards the path of redemption.
Berserk has one of the most gruelling plots, and the protagonist has to suffer a lot. There was almost no happiness left for him after his friend betrayed him. When Kentaro Miura was asked what kind of ending Berserk would have, he gave an unclear answer. He opted for a neutral answer, and the fans started to believe that Guts might finally be at peace.

The shonen genre in anime is one of the most popular, as a plethora of shows reach an insane level of popularity that is hard to match. However, this genre has a gem, which is Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter. Although the series has a faltering pace, Togashi-san’s manga remains one of the most popular manga series to be ever written.
Gon and Hisoka in the Hunter Exam arc
Both the manga and the anime are commercially successful, thanks to the series’ unorthodox style of narration and world development. However, the series would not have been so popular if it followed the original storyline that the artist had initially planned out in his mental map. Moreover, the series’ editor played a key role in changing the story of our adorable protagonist in the most important arc of the series.

While Berserk may not be something that has the same appeal as its fellow manga and anime series such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Sailor Moon. However, there is no denying that the series has survived the test of time, establishing itself as one of the greatest manga to be ever written. Therefore, it can be proclaimed Kentaro Miura’s magnum opus has greatly contributed to pop culture, with its dark atmosphere and an outstanding antihero.

While Kentaro Miura’s manga stands tall as a towering achievement in the world of manga, delving deep into the complex themes of power, philosophical concepts, and the darkness present within us all. While one might believe that the mangaka artist would have a serious source of recreation, that was not the case as he used to find joy in playing girl games when he was not crammed in his workspace.

Kentaro Miura’s Berserk is one of the top dark fantasy anime/manga to date, and Gut’s Dragon Slayer sword is featured in every image of the franchise. It has now become almost like a trademark for the protagonist to slug around the huge slab of iron.
However, it is because of the sword’s massive size that Guts can use it to slay the apostles of God. Every fallen apostle adds to the sword’s strength, making it more and more effective every kill. Let’s say that Dragon Slayer is no less popular than Guts himself.
So, indeed it should be surprising for Berserk fans to know that Miura might not like Gut’s sword as much as everyone else.

While Henry Cavill defined Superman for a decade, he has now moved on from the franchise and has been working on new projects. The actor was last seen in Matthew Vaughn’s spy comedy Argylle and is set to feature in the historical action comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The actor is also working on a Highlander reboot.
During the premiere of the Guy Ritchie directorial, Henry Cavill reportedly made fun of his unlucky streak as Superman. While talking about his collaborations with Ritchie, he mentioned his alleged post-credits scene in the director’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He also took a dig at his appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam while doing so.

Kentarou Miura is a legendary figure in the anime and manga industry. He created one of the most iconic series ever. Berserk’s popularity can put any top anime to shame. Even though the manga is most likely to remain unfinished due to the mangaka’s untimely death, it does not stop fans from delving into the world of pure chaos and darkness.
The Seinen genre manga has put everyone on the edge of their seats. Guts’ journey became more perilous as the story progressed. Berserk has otherworldly characters, and when asked whether there are any references, Kentarou Miura named a famous film series that is over two decades old. Henry Cavill also acted in one of the movies. The film series that Miura named was Hellraiser, which was first released in 1987.

A new anime adaptation of Berserk is something that fans have always wanted, and that is not something new. This is because the legendary manga by Kentaro Miura has never truly got what it deserved in the form of anime.
Although the 1997 anime adaptation of the story under the studio named Olm Team Iguchi, did the best they could with the available resources they had, however, the difficult journey of our main character, Guts, his quest for revenge, and his search for peace of mind, were something that has never been fully explored in the anime.

Before his sudden passing in March 2024, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama had been working on numerous ongoing and upcoming projects, including the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime, as well as the ongoing Dragon Ball Super manga, illustrated by Toyotarō. The manga has been ongoing since 2015 and while it had some breaks over the years, the most recent one being in 2022, it has been confirmed by Shueisha that the manga series will be going on an indefinite hiatus.
This decision makes sense, seeing how Toriyama-sensei’s death impacted the anime and manga world. And while this manga was partially Toyotarō’s, Toriyama was nevertheless the heart and soul of the series and he provided the story ideas and basic plotlines that Toyotarō drew. The last time the series had been on a hiatus was in August 2022, but it returned in December of that same year; the hiatus was in order to...

This article contains spoilers for "Gen V" episode 6.
Part of the reason Prime Video's "The Boys" has been acclaimed is the ways it has adapted its source material, a satirical superhero gore-fest by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The comic has its moments of pathos, but it's mostly just a vile splatterfest. There's so much bad taste abound in the 72 issues that it often makes you wish your brain could spit it out.
"The Boys" TV series (developed by Eric Kripke) keeps the violence and dark humor, but it sharpens the comic's genre critique while updating it for modern politics. The superheroes of "The Boys" are still stand-ins for the rot of corporate America and celebrity culture. However, the TV show explores its characters with more sincerity (take the musical scene in episode 5). Kripke's "The Boys" doesn't laugh at its characters (at least not the leads) in the same way that Ennis' does.

"Army of Darkness" turns 30 this week and enjoys a well-earned reputation as a horror-comedy classic. Indeed, the influence of Sam Raimi's filmmaking stretches beyond the Pacific Ocean. Kentaro Miura, the late, legendary manga artist responsible for "Berserk," named Raimi and Tim Burton as his favorite filmmakers. In an interview (transcribed into English), Miura praised these directors as "offbeat," noting, "it's strange that a person can be that offbeat and big at the same time."
Miura would know; "Berserk" is one of the bleakest, most violent stories you'll ever read. Some of its splash pages are less action spreads and more ethereal tableaus. However, it's often cited as the crown jewel of fantasy manga. He and Raimi were so alike, in fact, that Miura started to get concerns about copyright. He recounted:

"Berserk," the dark fantasy manga created by the late Kentaro Miura, is the story of Guts, a wandering swordsman who battles the demonic Apostles and their masters, the God Hand. The series has run since 1989 and its ending still isn't in sight, but its most famous story arc is "The Golden Age." Stretching volumes 3-14, it tells how Guts joined the mercenary group the Band of the Hawk and befriended its leader, Griffith. Readers know the two will turn into enemies, as Griffith becomes the fifth God Hand member "Femto" and Guts becomes the lonesome "Black Swordsman," but "The Golden Age" is the story of how.
"The Golden Age" is the most self-contained "Berserk" story and thus the most adaptable. Outside the manga, it was first retold in 1997 as a 25-episode anime by the studio Oriental Light and Magic. 15 years later in 2012, Studio 4°C adapted "The Golden Age" once more...

The first short story in Andrzej Sapkowski's epic saga was simply titled "The Witcher." It was printed in the Polish fantasy and sci-fi magazine Nowa Fantastyka in 1986, as part of a contest. Sapkowski didn't win the top prize then, but readers were attracted to Geralt of Rivia's struggle to free a princess from an unfair curse. That encouraged Sapkowski, and in 1994, "Blood of Elves" became the first full novel about the mutant monster-hunter's trials. Gradually, Geralt's popularity trickled into the worldwide consciousness, helped along by the 2007 video game adaptation by CD Project.

In a true “holy shit” moment, manga publisher Young Animal announced June 7 that Kentaro Miura’s unfinished manga masterpiece Berserk is coming back with new chapters just over a year after the author’s death. The series abruptly ended after 30-some years of entrancing artwork and tremendously complex storylines when Miura’s apprentices at Studio Gaga put the finishing touches on his final in-progress chapter. But in the time since, Studio Gaga has been working closely with Miura’s longtime friend and closest confidant, Kouji Mori, to bring Miura’s unique vision to its intended conclusion.

Even before its sudden conclusion, fans were eager to see the story wrap up as the releases became fewer and farther between over the years and the story seemed to be veering further and further off-track.

In a category that is mostly dominated by Hollywood productions, particularly since epic films demand a rather significant budget, it is also interesting to highlight that Asia has also had its share of epics, most of which are of significant quality, even considered masterpieces. Samurais, historic events, wuxia, fantasy are all elements included in the movies of the list, which, once more, aims at diversity.
Most of these films are co-productions from companies from many countries. “Mongol” for example is a co-production between Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan and China. Instead of filling the titles with countries, we chose to just mention the country that the main story is based. Thus, in the case of “Mongol”, Mongolia is mentioned as the country of origin.
Without further ado, here are 20 excellent Asian epic movies, in alphabetic order

I thought I was prepared for anything Berserk and the Band of the Hawk threw at me after the tutorial. In a hellish landscape of severed heads, I waded through demonic creatures as a muscular man with a gigantic sword. Each hit caused red splashes to arch across the screen, unapologetically bathing everything in blood. I had no idea how much more twisted things were going to become.
Kentaro Miura’s dark Berserk manga provided the perfect backdrop for a Musou-style game. I followed Guts’ story, from the Golden Age Arc through to The Hawk of the Millennium Empire Arc. The basic plot showed how he joined The Band of the Hawk after losing a fight to their leader, Griffith. Yet, welcoming these new companions into his heart seals Guts’ fate. As Guts becomes a cog in accomplishing Griffith’s dream, everyone is tipped into a world of monsters, madness,...

Koei Tecmo America has announced that they will be bringing Berserk to North America in 2017. The Omega Force developed title, which will now go by Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Windows PC.
Based around the popular manga and anime series, Berserk centers around the mercenary group known as the Band of the Hawk. The game will cover the story of Kentarou Miura’s series from the ‘Golden Age’ arc through the ‘Falcon of the Millennium Empire’ arc. Players will become familiar with the legendary Black Swordsman, Guts, and the leader of the Band of the Hawk, Griffith, as they do battle against humans and demons alike.
While the name Omega Force may not instantly ring a bell, you’re probably pretty familiar with their work. A division of Koei Tecmo, the studio has worked on titles such as Hyrule Warriors,...

There's still a lot of mystery surrounding the new Bersek anime project. Is it a new anime series? Ova? Or film? Still, it's exciting that after eighteen years, their could potentially be a new Berserk project that moves past The Golden Age arc. Berserk is a Japanese, fantasy manga series from celebrated mangaka Kentaro Miura. Set in a medieval Europe-inspired dark fantasy world, the story centers on the characters of Guts, a lone mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the Band of the Hawk. Oriental Light and Magic produced a 25-episode anime adaptation that aired from 1997-98. A three-part animated film series was released in 2012 which retold the Golden Age arc, which was previously depicted in the '98 anime.
