Warning: Spoilers
This was a great film and I echo the comments already made.

Original music was by Dimitri Tiomkin, one of the great composers for film.

However, most of the time you hear the second movement of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, which has the right atmosphere of foreboding required. Obviously, no copyright problems involved, but poor old Ludwig von deserves a mention!
